Sara’s POV The next morning, I woke up in Mary’s guest bedroom, feeling a mixture of relief and sadness. The familiar scent of her home, with its warm, comforting atmosphere, did little to ease the turmoil in my heart. I glanced at the soft pink walls and the framed photos of us over the years, memories that once brought a smile to my face now only served as a painful reminder of the life I’d temporarily left behind. I sighed deeply, pulling myself out of bed. I had cried myself to sleep last night, and the weight of it still clung to me.
