I actually enjoyed the rest of the English lesson, even though I had been embarrassed at the start when everybody laughed at my accent thanks to Blake. It turned out they were studying American poets at my new school rather than The Great Gatsby as I had been studying back in Boston. I had always loved Robert Frost and Edgar Allen Poe so I already had half of the poems on the reading list memorized and I was not going to have any trouble with the academic part of the class. I had so many things to say when the teacher started asking us questions about how to interpret the use of language, but I didn’t take part in any of the discussions about the poems.
