Chadrick smirked almost automatically when he saw me delivering drinks. He stood up and walked close to me.
“You’re a little late?” he asked in an amused tone.
I smiled weakly. To be honest, I am still in a daze because of what I just read on the contract. Kiss…sex…damn it!
Chadrick’s eyes narrowed and his brows furrowed at me. “Are you okay?” he asked, searching for my eyes.
I smiled reassuringly and nodded. “I’m fine,” I replied. I smiled wider for him to believe me. I am fine, physically. But I am really breaking down mentally.
However, that’s not supposed to be my system shutdown. I did that for my mom. I need to suck it up and save her. So I don’t have time to sulk for the things that I had to swallow because her life is on the line.
Chadrick still didn’t seem to buy it because he’s still giving me a look. But I’m glad that he didn’t ponder on. Instead, he ordered drinks and went back to his table.
He asked me to deliver drinks to him for more than three rounds. I even told him that he shouldn’t be drinking a lot because he’s going to drive. But all I got was, “I can handle more than this, Blythe.”
I frowned as I went back to the counter where Des is grinning at me sheepishly. I rolled my eyes because I already know what she has in mind.
“What?” I asked, trying to shrug her annoying smirk.
Des giggled and bumped my shoulder playfully. “Are you dating that guy?” she asked me.
I looked at her with an annoyed look. “No!” I vehemently denied.
Des raised her brow at my reaction but her meaningful grin is still there. She’s looking at me like she doesn’t believe what I just told her.
“Seriously!” I added.
Des let out a boisterous laugh and I just glared at her. She really loves teasing me and I don’t even understand why she’s making him an issue here. Chadrick is a friend.
But you kissed, that annoying voice inside my head comes reminding me in the most inconvenient time.
I sighed and shut my eyes.
I tried so hard to not think about it again even though I know deep inside that I found it hard to sleep when my mind is all over the feel of his lips on me, his hand on my waist and his breath on my skin.
I admit that it kept me up. It doesn’t even help that it is my first kiss. I have subconsciously somehow set standards when it comes to kisses.
Chadrick had showed me something I have never experienced before and now I can’t even imagine myself kissing someone else. It’s as if he’s marked me unconsciously and totally ruined all the other guys for me.
Now, I don’t even know how I could kiss another man without thinking how his lips moved and owned mine.
Des shook her head with that same annoying smirk on her face. “Surely, he likes you. He’s been here since he met you and has constantly asked for you,” she said in a singsong.
Des wriggled her brows at me before taking her drinks to deliver to the customer while I was left in the counter, looking at Chadrick who’s busy reading something on his phone.
I sighed. “This is nothing,” I told myself.
I had to remind myself that dating is not in my priority list. I need to work for my mother’s operation. That’s on the top of my list right now. I can’t waver. I can’t afford to lose my focus on that goal.
Besides, Chadrick hasn’t said anything about the kiss. He was apologetic even. So, I don’t think he has any intention to push through with that. He just wanted to kiss me…not do something about what happens after he kissed me.
And I shouldn’t be thinking about that now. I need to earn for Mom. I need money not a guy.
That night went well. I was called in the office to sign the papers and get some necessary information about my job.
“An escort doesn’t necessarily mean a fulfiller of the s****l needs of the clients,” Miss Bea started. “Some men only book escorts because they want company…or a date on special events for some bigtime clients.”
I nodded at her explanation. I actually know that now. Chadrick even lectured me about that when we first met.
“Since you’re still starting, your rate isn’t as big as the seasoned ones yet. I’ll say five thousand dollars per night,” she began.
My eyes widened and I looked at her in disbelief. What? The starting is five thousand dollars per night?! So…the seasoned escorts earn even more? No wonder they can afford luxury brands!
Miss Bea smiled when she saw my reaction. I must have given it away because I really couldn’t hide my facial expression. I’m always transparent and that’s one of the things I wanted to change.
“You don’t have to be surprised, Blythe. Most of our clients are elite. They are multi-millionaire business men. Some are even diplomats. That’s why the rates are all high,” Miss Bea explained.
I gulped and nodded. Now, I’m kind of nervous again. High end clients? Multi-millionaire?
How am I going to cater to them anyway? I feel like I am lacking in all aspects with that.
“Here is the contract,” she told me and handed me the final contract. True enough, my preferences are noted and are highlighted. “It will be notarized every single time for both the protection of you and our client.”
Okay, it is notarized. So, this is legal. I could calm down.
I took my time and read the contract whole-heartedly. After signing, Miss Bea told me to meet Dane in the morning for my measurements. She also told me that I will need to look for dresses that I would approve in the wardrobe. I will also have my photoshoot for the profile. And in the afternoon, I will go for my medical exam for me to be ready in the evening.

I was spent. I barely had sleep.
After a full day of errands for my measurements and my medical exams made me forget about sleep because when I was done, it was already too late and I had to go and work again.
Chadrick was also volunteering to accompany me but I refused because I think he hasn’t slept that much too.
I walked in the office and I was instructed to go to Maya for me to start working as an escort officially. I already chose the outfit I am wearing and I chose the most decent I could find in the wardrobe.
Five thousand a night, Blythe. Suck it up!
That’s what I am always telling myself. It’s my motivation—other than my mother.
Maya smiled widely when he was done. I looked at the mirror and saw her work. I have glitters on my cheeks as highlight. My eyes have smoky shadows while my lips are in the shade of nude.
“You look wonderful,” she told me as she fixed my hair.
I am wearing a black glittery halter mid-thigh-high dress and a pair of gold stilettos. Maya also gave me a gold bangle.
“I heard from Miss Bea that you’re already booked for tonight,” she said which made me look at her in shock.
“I am?” I asked.
Five thousand a night.
Maya nodded and grinned. “Looks like you’re in it for a good night, Blythe. Good luck on your first client!” she beamed before instructing me my next moves.
I bit my lip as my heart is booming against my chest. I nervously walked upstairs to a VIP room. I couldn’t even remember what Maya had told me beforehand. I was walking aimlessly and nervously.
Shit! This isn’t going to be good!
One door of the VIP room opened and I almost fell back when I saw Chadrick. His brows are furrowed and he looked so serious as his gaze met mine.
He pursed his lips in a thin line while his jaw ticked.
My lips parted, not knowing what to say because I feel like I needed to explain something to him even when I know that I don’t need to.
“Come in,” he said in a low baritone.
I narrowed my eyes and looked at the room number. 2098. So, he’s my first client? I sighed in relief. It was as if a heavy weight has been lifted off my chest.
I followed him inside and closed the door behind me. I saw him sitting at a leather couch while the television is on. In front of him are bottles of beer, wine and whiskey. He glanced at me before motioning me to come to him.
I bit my lip and sat two feet away from him. He didn’t speak. Instead, he just poured whiskey on his glass before downing it in one shot.
I looked at my hands on my lap. I laced them together when I felt Chadrick cupping my face. The next thing I know, his mouth is on mine. His lips are conveniently moving against mine.
His kisses made me dizzy and that made me shut my eyes and let him dominate the kiss.
His lips tasted like whiskey and somehow, I find it enticing. His lips moved masterfully against mine and suddenly, I lost all of my sanity.
Just a kiss, Blythe.
Just. A. Kiss.
Kiss?
My eyes widened and then I pushed him off me. He looked at me with fiery eyes as he licked his lower lip.
“I didn’t agree to a kiss,” I told him calmly even though my insides are shivering with the stare he’s giving me.
He narrowed his eyes even more and smirked. “Why are you working like this?” he asked in a voice laced with acid.
I pursed my lips in a thin line. “I don’t need to explain myself to you.” I looked away and fiddled on my fingers.
I heard him breathing hard beside me before he poured another shot of whiskey on his glass and finished it in one gulp.
“I’m sorry,” I heard him utter silently.
I slowly looked at him and saw him looking at the glass intensely like he wants to break it or throw it to the wall.
He sighed hard. “I shouldn’t have done that,” he told me. “I was just…” he paused and shut his eyes hard. “…never mind.” He let out another heavy breath.
I stared at him and saw how he’s looking like he’s having a hard time. He downed another shot before looking at me.
He pursed his lips in a thin line. “I just don’t want you spending some time with someone else. I don’t like the thought to someone else holding you.” He suddenly looked away making me see his jaw clenching tightly.
My heart started to beat erratically fast while I digested his words. He doesn’t want me being with another man…does that mean?
Fuck! Right now, my inexperience in dating is frustrating me. What does her mean by that? Are we thinking the same thing?
I screamed in my head.
Chadrick looked at me again. I thought he was going to clear himself up but then he turned apologetic. “I’m sorry. I better go now,” he said as he stood up and left me alone in the room.
What the hell just happened?
