The wedding was beautiful and short, an atmosphere filled with repressed tenderness that could be felt all over the body. In contrast, the wedding party was a real circus. They were held on the Knight family estate in River Oaks, a privileged part of Houston where people more often confided in their accountants than priests. Since Adam was the first descendant of the Knight family to marry, the father wanted to impress the rest of the world, or at least Texas that the father thought is worth the whole effort. Like many others, the father thought that Texas would have led the whole of North America had it not been for the 1845 annexation.
Considering family honor and the fact that the attention of all of Texas was focused on us, the father hired a wedding planner and pointed out:
