Chapter Nine
Karl and Asha Go to a Party
Mandy was Asha’s “best female friend”…they’d been at university together. Asha had a degree in physics – something that Karl had only found out when he saw her correcting one of his network traffic calculations on the whiteboard in his office. Since it was a complex integration function he was more than a little surprised.
Mandy had been studying French Literature, and the two of them shared a flat for two years. Mandy was now married with two children and a husband, Roger, who was a junior barrister. The party was to celebrate Roger’s birthday. Asha had suggested keeping the gift simple; a bottle of vintage Champagne.
“He’s a lawyer – they love Champagne,” she assured him.
