Chapter 28: Protector

"Do you have any idea how hard it is to travel from Cardiff? The traffic at this time of day is terrible! It is not like I can go on public transport with my murder kit, is it? " The masked figure said, with a muffled voice.

"I suppose not," Hannah admitted.

"You didn’t even give me money for the toll road, you just sent the i***t Burt to come and get me. What is wrong with using a phone? I was in the middle of a shift! "

"Hannah, can you please tell us what is going on?" Alannah snapped.

"I heard rumours and I called in a favour. It turns out those rumours were right, " Hannah said with a shrug.

"You didn’t think to tell us about those rumours, so we could maybe increase security? And can someone please tell us who he is? " Kurt roared as he pointed to the masked figure.

"s**t, you need to get to your safehouses before..." the masked figure said, as suddenly the second wave of intruders came crashing through the glass roof. This time there were only six of them and the masked figure managed to take out two with their bow before they landed. The leader wasted no time in pointing his gun at Matt and Trina. He ordered, "Drop your weapon. Don’t pretend you don’t care about him, little mouse, because I know you do. So drop it now or he and his lovely wife will be shot. "

"But if I drop my weapon, you will kill everyone in this room!" The masked figure argued.

"As much as I would like to, my orders were to flush you out and capture you. Do as I say, and they won’t be harmed. This is your last chance, little mouse! " 

The masked figure looked at Matt and Trina. "Please, for the love of God, drop your weapons. I don’t want to die!" Trina begged. The masked figure visibly sighed and dropped their weapons. As soon as the weapons hit the ground, one of the groups tasered the masked figure and they fell to the ground. Another member of the group placed an electric collar around the masked figure’s neck and bound their wrists and ankles with zip ties.

"Make sure they are tight and bring them here. Make sure you have your hand on the collar’s controls just in case they try anything! " The leader ordered

"I don’t understand. Why did he drop his weapons to protect Trina and me?" Matt asked.

The leader chuckled and said, "I am really going to enjoy this. Shall we see who is under the mask, little brother? "

"Little Brother? Antônio? " Matt gasped as the leader pulled off his mask to reveal his older brother, Antônio.

"Yes, little brother! Did you miss me? " Antônio said, with an evil smirk. Antônio had lighter hair than Matt, and instead of the amber-brown eyes, he had dark brown ones. Antônio also had a long scar on his forehead.

"No!" Matt roared.

"Yes! After I was unfairly banished, I joined the breaking wheel. In exchange for this little mouse here, they will kill our father and make me the leader of the South American syndicate! " Antônio exclaimed.

"I don’t understand!" Matt confessed.

"I know you don’t, but you will as soon as you see who is under this mask," Antônio said as he pulled off the mask. Everyone gasped when they recognised the face of Lisa.

"Lisa!" Matt shouted as he moved forward.

"Don’t worry, Matt, I am not here to interfere with your marital bliss. I am here to repay a favour I owe Hannah. Unlike some people, I keep my word! " Lisa snapped as she began to struggle. She suddenly screamed as she felt an electric current shoot through her.

"No, let her go! Antônio, if I mean anything to you, please let Lisa go. She means nothing to you or the breaking wheel! " 

"Oh, little brother, I can see you are quite attached to her. But, sadly, this little mouse here is quite valuable, aren’t you? Why don’t you tell them who you really are? No? I will tell him then. Lisa Mitchell, in fact, is a runaway Fallen Angel. They have been searching all over the world for her! "

"You know nothing, Antônio Maldonado! You are interfering in things that you do not understand! But know this: you will pay dearly for this! " Lisa hissed.

"Let her go now!" Matt roared as he made a move to attack his brother. However, he quickly found himself pinned to the ground by the twins. "Let me go now, dam it!"

"And let you die? How are you going to help her if you are dead? " Aiden muttered.

"Lisa! Lisa!" Matt screamed, struggling. There was no way he was going to let his brother take her.

"My, my my! We're having a bit of a meltdown, aren't we, brother? Especially when it comes to a woman who isn't your wife! Which reminds me! " "Antônio he said as he smacked the butt of his gun on the top of Lisa’s head. She quickly fell unconscious. "Come on, Trina, it is time to go."

Trina smiled as she trotted past Bee, the twins, and Matt. "Trina?" Matt asked, confused.

"Oh Matt, don’t look so surprised. You didn’t think I was going to stay as your wife, did you? We did not even consecrate the marriage for Gods' sake! " Trina said as she kissed Antonio on the cheek.

"How could you? How could you betray your syndicate like this? " Bee said, disgusted.

"They stopped being my syndicate when they banished Antônio! I told him to steal the money from my gang to fund an uprising against Antônio’s father. However, he was caught and banished. Imagine treating the rightful heir like that! 

But we found another way to pay. Someone gave us the information that the little mouse was attached to Matt. We used this event to flush her out. We knew she would not let her precious love get hurt. Once we return to her, he will do whatever we want! Clever, don’t you think? " Trina said with a giggle.

"Now, that is enough, my mountain flower. We don’t want to give the whole game away. Besides, backup is on its way. " Antônio said as a loud pounding noise started. Someone was trying to get through the doors.

"Shame, I was enjoying myself so much!" Trina said with a smile.

"Goodbye, Brother. Don’t worry, I'll take care of your wife and your mistress! " Antônio said with a wink. He put his arms around Trina and pressed a button. They suddenly whizzed up the rope that Antônio had come down on. One man stepped forward and quickly picked up Lisa like a rag doll and whizzed up the rope. The other two men followed and disappeared as the ropes came tumbling down.

It was just then the door burst open. Will, Jack, and Emily rushed in, followed by armed members of the Grey Seals gang. 

Jack rushed over to Bee to check she was OK, whilst Emily frantically searched the room. Emily saw Lisa’s weapons on the floor and crouched over them. She picked up Lisa’s bow, holding it so tight her knuckles went white. She stood up and put the bow on her back. Looking murderous at Matt, she signed, "Where is she?" Will translated as Matt got up and answered, "Lisa has been taken."

"Who dares take my sister?" Will said, translating Emily’s signs.

"Sister or ward?" Bee suddenly asked, making Emily frown. 

Emily asks, "What do you mean by that?" 

"Meaning Emily is not Lisa’s sister," Bee said,

"She never hid that fact. She always says Emily is her adoptive sister. " Matt snapped.

"You don’t understand, Emily is Lisa’s protector! Emily is a Silent One! " Bee explained, seeing a furious look form on Emily’s face.

"A silent one. What does that mean?" Kurt asked.

"It means we are in a whole heap of trouble!" Bee said anxiously.
