The second I saw her my stomach clenched in knots from how breathtaking she was. I don't think I've ever seen a more beautiful pair of lips and before I could stop myself, I was wondering what her skin tasted like. But the moment she turned her eyes on me and they widened felt like a punch in the gut.
If I didn't know she was a shifter before, I knew now.
Tawny, golden eyes. Bright, lively orbs ringed in thick lashes- and they recognized mine. I know for sure Graves didn't notice but I saw her breath catch in her chest, and now I had a name. Samiah. I'd find her hell or high water.
When he asked me for the box I had never noticed on the shelf I had been so absorbed in the dusting of freckles across her nose I almost didn't register the request. When he opens it and we find out what it contains and his explanation, I have to fight back the urge to vomit and the growing sense of panic.
How the f**k could I have not realized dragonpoacher families might still have spoils from kills in their lines?
To her credit, Sam looked very uncomfortable, and gave what I could tell was an excuse as to why she might not work with them, and I'm relieved by the information. Graves doesn't seem to notice the reaction and as they end their call he turns to me and says "she has excellent t**s. Making a move on her is going to be very satisfying."
I count to ten before responding but my tone is still absolutely frosty. "A move, sir?"
He waves a hand. "Yes, I know, I'm married, you don't approve, blahblah. But let me tell you, Tiago, there's no point in being a man with so much power if you can't do whatever you Goddamn want. f**k my wife's feelings, I already pay her bills."
I put my shades back on so he can't see the unbridled rage in my eyes. "Understood, sir." He laughs. "That's my good boy." Patting my back, which makes me even more tense, he backs away from his desk and leaves his office.
I can't wait for the day his wife takes everything.

The end of the call makes my skin feel grimy. I light some champa flower incense in my office and head down to the kitchen to see Felicity doing the breakfast dishes. I wrap my arms around her, burying my nose in her neck and hair. I feel the goosebumps start raising on her shoulder.
"You already missed me? You were only there for an hour."
"Put that down please? It made me feel slimy and I just need you for a minute."
She turns, circled in my arms, and studies my face. "What happened?"
"I really don't want to talk about it yet." Truthfully, I didn't even know where to start. "Can we just sit for a bit together?"
"Yeah, that sounds nice. How about you head up and get changed while I grab a bottle of wine and we can take some time and watch a movie or something?"
I take her face in my hands, starting a deep needy kiss, and I'm rewarded with a pleased little shiver and her breath catching in my mouth. Nipping at my lower lip she gives a throaty little laugh. "Red?"
"Red. And cheese, if we have any." My lips are softly kissing down her jaw and neck. I'm starting to get hazy on what I was even upset about in the first place, trailing my fingertips down the curve of her tiny waist.
"SAM." Her breath is hitching now, but serious enough to break me out of the fog. I look at her, seeing my own flushed face reflected in her green eyes. "Meet me in the bedroom. We don't need to get caught in the kitchen AGAIN after last time." I'm grinning now at the memory. "Fine, fine. I'll go change, your highness. Hurry up with the wine."
She rolls her eyes. "I love you, you goof."
"You're my favorite treasure," I tell her, rushing up the stairs.
I shimmy out of my suit and hang it up, trading it for joggers and a pretty blue bralette. Remaking our bed, I start looking for the remote to the smart tv. Originally I had a smaller one in here but the wall looked odd and too big, so we upgraded to a 60 inch and it fits perfect. I made space on my nightstand for cheese and wine and started scrolling for a movie when Felicity popped open the door.
"Did you make a choice yet?"
"I'm feeling sentimental, I'll just put a rom com on."
She hands me the tray to settle and shimmies out of her sweats. Once she settles into her side of the bed I hand her a wine glass, enjoying the smell of dark fruit. Half an hour into 50 First Dates and 2 glasses down, I start craving her touch again. I trace a finger down her arm, and when it makes her turn her head and smile at me, I lean into the kiss I've been thinking about all day. Swinging a leg over my lap, she starts pulling her oversized sweatshirt over her head, sending her hair cascading all over her head, surrounding me with the smell of peaches. I give one low, happy growl into her mouth and appreciate the moan from her in response.
Swiping her hair aside, I nip at her earlobe while she kisses my neck, both getting to the point of feverishness where we don't care other people will be home soon. She's unhooking my bra, I'm digging nails into her hips, both panting and flushed. When I pull away for just a moment to shake my bra off, I notice a piece of hair stuck to the side of her face and her swollen lips. It makes me laugh, just a little. and I tell her "we really don't need to rush. We have forever, after all."
I lay her back gently, admiring how smooth her skin is and how toned her legs are, planting kisses and little love bites on her collar bones and the mounds of her breasts, moans and little gasps music to my hungry ears. Taking on n****e into my mouth, I suck lightly, giving the opposite one a rolling massage between my fingertips, watching her back arch. Her hips buck underneath me and I suddenly smell how wet she is. I trap her lips in another wine flavored kiss and press 2 fingers into her wetness, massaging slowly, savoring the louder and louder moans in my mouth.
"What do you want, Felicity? Tell me."
"I... oh god... make me c*m, Sam, I want to c*m for you."
With that, I position myself a little lower, planting love bites all down her torso, licking my way down her inner thigh, dangerously close. I hear her sharp intake of breath and make my way back up slowly, kissing up almost to her knee while I slip my soaked fingers into her, finding her g spot. I have to force her thighs apart when she almost crushes my head at the sensation, shaking and hot, gasping again when I finally relent and plant one small kiss on her swollen clit.
She lets her thighs fall apart, and I'm softly sucking on her, flitting my tongue underneath, massaging her insides with my two fingers, feeling the waves of multiple orgasms wrack her body one after another, the heady scent of s*x in the air, peaches and clementines to soak our bed until she finally clamps down on my hand so hard I burst out laughing. "Are you, uh... trying to trap me on purpose?"
"Mmm."
"Is that you letting me know you're tapping out for now?"
"Mhm." Her eyes are closed and she looks almost ready to pass out. Chuckling again, I walk into our bathroom to start running water into the antique clawfoot tub and pour some bath salts into it.
"Love, I need to change the sheets or you're gonna be mad you have to sleep in the cold wet spot."
Her eyes pop open so fast I forget she was passing out. "You don't have to tell me twice, I'm going."
Rolling up the lovely smelling linens, I let her soak and let Adam Sandler play in the background. I'm still restless I need to clear my head before I have the strange conversation of the mountains and the video chat.
I head down to the kitchen after wiping my face down, yawning, and run into Amisha grabbing a beer from the fridge. When she sees me she struggles not to laugh. "How's Felicity?" It sounds almost too innocent.
"She's great, soaking in the tub as we speak."
"I can smell why."
I roll my eyes, laughing. "Yeah, yeah. Are you busy tonight? I'm feeling restless."
"Sure, I was thinking of heading down to a shifter bar. Wanna come with?"

When I get home I wash the filth of the day off with the hottest water I can manage, flushing my olive skin red and clearing my head before I shoot Thalia a text that I'm gonna head to her bar tonight for sure. I decide on a burgundy v neck tee, dark wash jeans, and chelsea boots to match my black leather jacket. It's starting to get chilly and I have to play the part. Dragons are always warm and can survive deep winter hibernation when needed with our own internal flames, but since I am pretending to be human, a jacket it is.
The drive to Moonrise is calming and the night is beautiful, clear skies and bright stars framing an almost full moon. I'm lucky enough to find parking just across the street after I pick up her latte. The bouncer is another wolf, a very tall burly cheerful guy by the name of Rafael, and my hand is dwarfed in his when he reached out to shake it.
"Tiago, my man! I haven't seen you in weeks, how are ya?"
"I've been really busy Raf! My boss has been swamping me in overtime and I had a camping trip interrupted by a gnarly brown bear. No te precupes though, I made it back in once piece last night and I'm here to bring coffee to our favorite girl."
He's chuckling. "Don't let Darcy hear that or she might just kill her own boss. That chick is nuts man, I don't know how she's still here."
I roll my eyes. "She's just obsessed because I rejected her weird offer to 'polish' my 'pole' when she was 7 margaritas deep. Who the hell says stuff like that anyways?!"
He's laughing harder now, and the people waiting behind me are restless. "I would have PAID to see the look on her face. Head in, don't keep the boss waiting. It's really good to see you, man."
Heading in, I immediately beeline to the bar and catch Thal cashing someone out so I wave the latte slowly, letting the smell float through the air. She turns and smiles, telling Darcy she's heading out for a minute. "Raspberry white chocolate with-"
"...an extra shot and whipped cream, yes, I remembered."
"This thing smells like redemption to a sinner and if I wasn't a happily married I'd think you were the perfect man. Your first whiskey's on me, babe. Now what's got you all funky out of sorts? You're fidgety."
"Well... you know how I mentioned seeing a lion in the woods the other day?" I see an empty table and take a seat, flagging down a server for my usual.
"I, uh... I guess there's no easy way to ask this." She gives me a single raised eyebrow just as the guy, Jules I think, brings me an old fashioned Darcy must have already been working on. "Thanks, dude. Thal, what does a mate bond feel like?"
She chokes on her latte, coughing hard enough to make her eyes water when I smack her back. "What the f**k, Tiago, are you serious? The lioness in the woods?" I nod, embarrassed. "I... wow. I didn't know humans could feel a mate bond." Avoiding eye contact I take a sip of my drink instead and tell her "I felt something like an electric shock in my heart and I keep dreaming of her eyes. If the bear hadn't come I'm sure things would be different but we both basically ran off when it surprised us."
"You have no idea what she looks like?"
"Well, actually..." I take a minute to explain what happened at Graves' meeting and her eyes are getting bigger and bigger and more excited for me as I tell her. "...and now I have to look for someone named Sam. Samiah Ghazi."
"...You're sure about that name."
"Yes, extremely. She's apparently a gem trader and jewelry designer."
She sighs, running a hand back into her hair. "Okay so I have to head back to the bar for at least a bit and help Darcy. I'll tell you what I know when I get a chance, okay?" I take her hand and kiss it. "You're an amazing friend, Thalia, and I'm blessed to know you."
"Yeah, yeah. Let me get back to my lazy employee. Love you."
Finally relieved to be able to get answers, I survey the crowd. Everyone seems to be in high spirits tonight and the DJ is playing some older stuff that suits the mood. I'm heading to the back patio to enjoy the fresh air when a tiny woman crashes into me, spilling my fresh drink all over me. I sigh, flagging down a server.
"Oh no I'm so sorry, someone pushed me and I-"
"Truly, don't worry." I smile at her, she's quite pretty and her bright green eyes seem worried about me. "I'll get another drink in a second, just be careful, okay?" She has a faint scent that's very pleasant, a sweet something that's pulling at the back of my mind.
"Let me buy you a new drink, I insist, I'll tip your server too. My group is at the edge of the bar."
"Who am I to refuse such a gracious lady?" She gives a little laugh and leads me away. I'm starting to feel more and more unsettled and my nose is going haywire with the soft smell of- honey. Honey cakes and sunshine. By the time we get to the bar and she introduces me to her girlfriend my heart has jumped into my throat.
"This is my girlfriend Sam. Darcy, can you get this guy another drink?"
I was desperately going to need it.
