HALF-BLOOD: THE VAMPIRE HUNTRESS (The Series)

CHAPTER 20: DETACHMENT

We headed to the Rebels hide out using our vampire speed. No one would notice as it's already dark. We stopped at the top of a huge oak tree.

"We stayed there temporarily after the SAC vampire group stormed our last hide out." He pointed to the few huts in the middle of the Angat forest, not far from where we at. The seven huts and the area are big enough to house twenty vampires or more.

My chest throbbed when I noticed there seemed to be a commotion in their hide out and there was a burning hut. I listened intently and I heard shouting from there.

"Justin, something's wrong is going on there."

"s**t!" Didn't waste time Justin, he immediately rushed to their hide out.

"Justin!" Louie yelled at his son but it didn't stop him. We immediately followed Justin.

We got to their hide out. I recognized one of Vlad's vampire opponents, he was the one who's with Princess when Martha and I saw them!

"He's one of Princess' guards!" I warned Louie while pointing at Vlad's opponent.

"We're in danger," Louie whispered.

We looked for Justin. We saw him fighting with a vampire. Justin seemed hurt when he got hit by the opponent's invsible power. Louie immediately helped his son. With strange speed, he rushed to the vampire, he choked him then dropped him on the ground while still holding its neck. He immediately pulled out the knife made of oak tree, then he stabbed the vampire through his chest. "No one dares to hurt my son. "

I helped Justin to stand up. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, thanks!" He rubbed his neck.

"Aren't you used to fighting?"

"Vlad didn't teach me much. He was always the one who faced those who tried to take my life," he said in a proud statement.

"You must learn to defend yourself." I immediately choked the vampire who appeared next to him. He burned to ashes.

"Wow!" Justin exclaimed. "Your ability is fire?"

I did not answer him immediately. This is just one of my abilities. "Yes," I answered sparingly.

Two vampires rushed at us again. I stopped the male one, as his target was Justin. I right away kicked him with great force. He spewed out into the burning hut. I immediately faced another vampire girl, I blocked her nails pointed at my face. "No one can scratch my face, b***h! "I broke her arm then I punched her face. I was not satisfied yet, I twisted her neck and slammed her to the ground. I pulled out the wooden knife and then stabbed her in the chest.

"You're a bad ass!" Justin praised. I turned to see the female vampire behind him. She scratched Justin's back with her sharp claws. He fell on his knees.

"Justin!" I wasted no time. I rushed at the female vampire and then stabbed her in the chest.

I immediately checked its condition. The wounds are deep but healing fast. "Are you alright?"

"I'm not going to die here yet." Justin stood up slowly.

"You're crazy. Let's clean up the mess here." I looked around. The chaos seems to be over.

I turned around and saw a vampire approaching me but Louie and Justin immediately stopped him, and at the same time kicked him in the stomach. Louie pulled out his claws and stabbed him in the neck, then he pulled out his knife then stabbed him in the chest.

"Were you hurt?" I sighed. They even both checked on me, in unison again. They strangely looked at each other. Louie averted his eyes then looked around.

"I think it's over," I said to break the silence.

"Justin," Vlad called. He looked at us, then his gaze went back to Justin. "You brought friends." He and Louie stared at each other. "Thanks for helping us."

"Vlad, it's a long story, but he's my biological father."

Deafening silence prevailed.

"It's good that you found your real father." Vlad broke the silence. turned to Louie again. "Can I entrust Justin's life to you?"

"I will protect my son, don't worry," Louie replied seriously.

"Justin, go with them first. The situation of the group is difficult. You are safer if you are with them than you are with us," Vlad said.

"But Vlad—" Justin protested but Vlad didn't let him finish.

"Don't be stubborn anymore. You saw what happened. Less than a few days ago, the SAC found our hide out. They can find us again in no time. They can't see you with us. "

"When will we meet again?"

"I'm going to see you, Justin. For now, I'll take care of the vampires first, those who left the SAC. They have nowhere to run except our group. We need to find a place to move." Vlad turned around then signaled his companions. They all escaped using vampire's speed.

Justin looked away from the family he knew all his life. The wind blew away, seemingly suppressing emotions. He sighed heavily.

"Let's go, before the SAC back-up arrives," I said to them to break the silence. Princess will not take long to follow the trails of his dead vampire guards. This is not the time for us to faqce each other and for me to take my revenge.

We haven't moved far from the Rebel's hide out when I felt a surge of power coming from where we came from. "Princess," I can't control my anger. I wanted to rush back but I felt strong arms holding me back.

"Vanessa! Vanessa!" I can hear voices calling me, they seemed to be from a far place.

"Vanessa!" I felt a surge of hot energy wrapping over me.

"Agh!" I breathe out heavily. I tried catching my breath. I held my chest as I felt a surge of pain.

"Vanessa, are you with us?" The voice seemed clearer to me. I looked at Louie's burned hands, holding me tight.

"What have I done?" I anxiously checked his hands, but he stopped me.

"I'm alright. My hands will heal in no time. What's happening to you? You released a very strong power. I had to forcefully stop you."

"Vanessa, your eyes!" Justin exclaimed. He was shocked seeing my silvery eyes.

I averted my eyes to hide my silver eyes. I sighed heavily. "I'll explain later. Take me away from here, please." My knees are both numb, I can't even stand up.

"I'll carry you," Justin offered. He lifted me up.

I didn't protest and let him carry me. I can't really move by myself. I feel so weak and exhausted. I leaned on his shoulder and suddenly fell asleep.
