CHAPTER 17: THE PAST

1505 Words
"Can you tell me what happened in the past? I mean... during the time Mother Superior found you?" I curiously asked. Louie took a few moments of silence. He sighed deeply. "Ten ancient supernatural beings founded the SAC 150 years ago. I was one of them." My jaw dropped. I couldn't react. "Four vampires, two werewolf, two wizards, one fallen angel, and one Fairy." Louie paused for a few minutes, he turned the car to another direction, opposite of the school. I didn't hold him back. I let him drive and drive until we went up the hill. "The two vampires wanted to take over the association together. One vampire left without a word, the werewolves were not interested, the wizards just follow the two vampires, the angel doesn't want to meddle in human concerns, the fairy decided to go back to their kingdom while I just want to live the way I want." He stopped the car on top of the hill, overseeing the view of the town. He went out of the car and walked towards the huge old oak tree. I got out of the car and followed him. I waited for him to tell his story. "I didn't agree with some of their beliefs, that's why I told them I will just leave everything to them. I left the Empire, lived my life away from the association. I met your Mom and your Uncle, and we worked together as vampire hunters. Sixty years ago, I met an ordinary woman I never thought I would fall in love with. Emily's the kindest and sweetest woman I have ever met. She fell in love with me without knowing what I am. I asked her to marry me without telling her about my identity, and she said yes." "You got married? W-where is she?" I asked. The last question choked me. "I had no intention of mentioning about myself being a vampire, but I wanted to be honest with her. I told her and she was okay with it. She didn't agree with the marriage to tie me with her all through out my vampire life, and she didn't want to become a vampire. She just wanted to be with me in her human life. We didn't get married but we lived happily together for twelve years, and then she got pregnant. I was so scared because it's rare for a vampire and human to conceive. That was also the main reason I left the SAC. They wanted to experiment creating an army of perfect half-vampires. Having my half-vampire child really bothered me. I met those two ancient vampires accidentally in one gathering, and told them my situation. I thought they were still my friends once in my life. I never thought they would betray me." "What did they do?" I can feel a surge of anger, I think I know what happened. Same thing that happened to our family. "A group of vampires attacked our house. I fought them as I tried defending my family. I carried her and ran as fast as I could. I ended up in the forest, we hid in a cave. She said she was about to give birth. I told Emily I will look for a doctor and I will go back no matter what, but I got caught in a fight. A group of vampires from the SAC blocked my way. I defeated them but I got heavily wounded. It took a long time before my wounds healed. I ended in front of the orphanage. I slept for 3 days." "Where's your wife? Your son?" "I came back to the cave... she's gone. I saw blood where she was lying down. I believe she already gave birth. She's probably dead by now." "Your child is probably alive somewhere." I looked at the beautiful scenery. It looks like giving us a new hope. "My child is the reason I'm here. It all happened here. I'm hoping my child is still alive. I want to have a purpose in life, not just by being a vampire hunter but a father." I see tears forming in his eyes. He wiped it using his hands, then he looked at me. "I'm sorry. You'll miss your class today." "It's okay. I'm glad you told me your past. I might be able to help you," I replied with a sincere smile. "I'm sure if the child is alive, he or she has a youthful look, just like you." "Do you see me as a child?" I jokingly replied. "No, I see you as a woman," he seriously replied while looking in my eyes. I choked with his reply. "W-what are you saying?" "Vanessa, I know you feel what I feel, too. I felt this the first time I saw you." He came closer and stared deeply in my eyes. "H-hold on. We barely know each other. We just met last week, remember?" I stepped back and raised my arm to put a distance between us. He smiled and stepped back. "I know. I am not forcing you. I will never do that to you. I will take things slowly, Vanessa." "T-that's good to know." I awkwardly smiled. I just can't believe a vampire would express his feelings for me, more so he would respect my beliefs. "That's the reason I told you my past that I can't even tell anyone. Even your Mom or Uncle didn't know I fell in love with an ordinary human." He came closer again and held both of my hands. His touched felt thousands of electricity crawling through my veins. "I will always be honest with you. I like you, Vanessa." I can feel my cheeks are burning. A handsome vampire is in front of me, saying he likes me. "Why me? I mean..." "I'm not really sure, Vanessa. All I know is that I felt this strong feelings again after fifty years." He touched my left cheek. I cleared my throat. "O-okay. Just promise me to take it slow, okay? I-I still believe in courtship." "I promise." He raised his right hand to show he's serious about the promise he made. It was childish but I find it cute. "Can we go back to school now? At least I could attend my afternoon classes?" I grinned. "Yeah, right. I'm sorry. Let's go." I was smiling along the way as we headed back to school. ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎
