Chapter 6The Draconian army had formed up, ready to march, when someone in the front rank spotted a party approaching under a white pennant of truce. As they assembled, Yerna had wormed her way into the fourth rank, which meant she could see through the men and horses, a view out across the sparsely grassed plain that sloped down to the coast. Much better than eating dust at the rear! Most of the envoys were Killimen, short and dark, but there were also two others of a racial type Yerna had never seen. Something about their sharp, narrow faces and the round, jet eyes peering through their visors made her shiver. They seemed to wear iridescent armor covering all of their bodies, even extending the length of their long, thin limbs. The obercinque just in front of her turned to his partner.
