Faith
Ok , Dillon wasn’t bad company at all.
Not only was he devilishly good looking but he could also hold a conversation .
I hadn’t expected him to be so … well so charming.
“You look deep in thought?” His voice cut through my day dream and my fork clattered onto my plate as I jumped.
“Sorry I was miles away there wasn’t I” I smiled across the table at him. It wasn’t as grand a table as the room where I had left the other sins . This was smaller , more intimate.
Romantic even.
“It’s ok , you look beautiful by the way”
Slowly he out the fork down, the tart on his plate only half finished.
“Thank you” I smiled at him across the table. “Again”
He had said as much several times already. But it didn’t seem like he was saying it for the sake of it. He actually looked like he meant it.
“Your home is beautiful Dillon”
I touched the jet black rose with the tips of my fingers. A black rose. It was all so … beautiful and creepy. Like I had fallen into a gothic novel.
Maybe I should stop reading vampire romance novels before bed. They were obviously having an impact on my dreams.
“Tomorrow I will show you around some more, outside “ He motioned to the windows. “There is so much to show you but not in the dark”
“That scary out there huh?” I was still clinging to the idea that this was a dream. But deep down I was beginning to doubt it.
It all felt far to real.
“No not scary, different to what you are used to” His fingers curled over my hand on the white table cloth. “And not safe”
I blinked back in surprise. “Not safe?” I knew I was parroting him back like a fool but I couldn’t help it. What did he mean not safe. Hadn’t he promised me that he would keep me safe and well?
“Not for you alone, not out there . Not until you are queen anyway. As soon as you take up the crown no one would dare to hurt you”He took a slow sip of the red liquid in his cut crystal glass. Red wine.. I was pretty sure it was red wine.
It wouldn’t be blood would it?
No..
I shook the thought away with a grin.
“What is out there?” I had caught the briefest of glimpses through the high windows. “What is out there that is so … scary?”
“This is Hell Faith, or at least our tiny part of it. It’s not your usual mundane world. The rules are different here”
“Like kidnapping college students in the hopes they agree to become your wife?” I raised an eyebrow at him and his smile only grew wider.
“Exactly like that but we don’t just kidnap college students. We …” he fumbled for the right words for a second. “Only the special ones”
“And what makes me so special? My witty charm? My body?” I knew I was teasing him but couldn’t help myself .
His eyes swept over my body , lingering a little too long on the swell of my breasts under the shimmering maroon material of the dress.
He licked his lip.
“Both of those things, yes”
Why did it feel like I was stripped naked under his gaze?i blushed scarlet.
“I knew you only wanted me for my body, you Sins” I tried to make a joke of it but the weight of his eyes had made something right start to form in the pit of my stomach.
I was attracted to him.
Really attracted. And he knew it. I could see it in the way his eyes narrowed.
“Oh I would worship your body” He was chuckling low in his throat, hiseyes boring into mine unflinching. “I could make your body feel things you have only ever imagined”
“Dillon” He has to stop , he had to before I climbed across the table and straddled him right here and now.
“You can’t deny the attraction Faith”
No I couldn’t but that didn’t mean I was going to ride him like a pony. We had only just met. “Wasn’t going to deny it but…”
“But?” His blonde eyebrow show up “not a virgin are you?”
“Of course not” I giggled , shaking my head. “I just don’t think jumping into bed with you would be a smart move”
“It would be a fantastic move but I can wait.. we can just hang out and get to know each other. Like I said there is a real reason you are so special to us, and not just because you have a really nice body”
“And what reason is that?”
“Your blood Faith, your blood is what makes you ours”
