Author’s Historical Note Sometimes a story takes you by surprise, and you never know what magical things will be uncovered. Rayne and Oliver’s Victorian-set romance was a true delight and an adventure for me in ways I never imagined. Between cursed diamonds, rumbling train cars, and the haunting and seductive atmosphere of a witchery at the base of a castle, there was plenty for me to explore with the story and, more importantly, with history. Below I wish to share with you a bit about some of the fun things I researched while writing this book. When Oliver and Rayne share their secluded moment in Lady Poole’s library, he mentions his grandmother seeing the Koh-i-noor diamond during the Great Exhibition in 1851.
