Brace Donovan is FC Dallas's lethal weapon. Brace was their No.10 player for nearly a decade and is about to retire, and he was offered the coaching job for FC Dallas when their Head coach fell ill. Brace loves football and would do anything to be around the field for the rest of his life. He wants the position as the coach, but what they are asking of him in return is preposterous. The management wants him to get married before getting the job, but Brace is not the marrying type. He was conflicted for several months about whether to give up his career or his freedom as a bachelor until he met the dorky yet sassy bombshell, Sabrina. An idea came to his mind when his best buddy, Tom, the attacker, suggested he pursue the girl and offer her a deal.

Sabrina has been struggling for years, trying to make ends meet. She juggles her studies, their small bakeshop, and her sick mother. Her mom has been in and out of the hospital for chemo and treatment. Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago, and ever since then, she has been knee-deep in debt. She knows who Brace Donovan was. Who wouldn't recognize the most loved bachelor football player of the FC Dallas? When Brace offered her a deal to help her pay the debts and her mother's medical bills, she didn't thinks twice.

It was purely business, or was it?

Chapter 1 - Sabrina Mcfee
Sabrina had been very busy with school, their bakeshop, and her mother that she had forgotten her birthday. It was not until her best friend, Gina, called her an hour ago and told her that they were going out tonight to celebrate. She buried herself in her studies and the piling of debts she needed to settle soon. " Sab, you have to get out and celebrate, girl. You've been staying off the grid for so long it's not normal anymore. You are young, beautiful, and so f*****g sexy. It's a sin not to flaunt all that smoking hot body of yours." Gina complained, and it made Sabrina wince. " I'm sorry, hon, you know how my life works right now. I don't have time for socializing or even celebrating my birthday. I am deeply in debt and don't know where to get the money." Sabrina answered frustratedly. " That is why you need to unwind, Sab. You are only twenty-six, for Christ's sake! How long has it been since you had a boyfriend? Sab, life is too short. Enjoy it while you are still young and able," Gina advised her. " I know, I know, but my current situation wouldn't allow me to breathe, Gin, you know that, right? I don't know what to do with the hospital bills, the bakeshop, and my student loans." Sabrina's voice was full of despair and anguish. " The more you need to get out. Breathe a little and have fun! Please, Sab, just for tonight. Do this for yourself, babe. You know you need this." Gina insisted. Sabrina knew how persistent her best friend could be. Gina would only think of other ways to make her submit to her demands if she didn't give in. " I'll try, Gin. I have to visit mom at the hospital later. Meet me at the bakeshop by eight? And please don't make me wear something I'm uncomfortable wearing, or I won't go out with you. " Can you at least wear a dress and let me fix your hair and make-up? I won't make you wear contacts if you don't want to. I will allow you to wear the big glasses that make you look dorky. I don't care!" Gina screamed excitedly over the phone, which made Sabrina smile. These two women are very opposite, but they have been inseparable since the first day of college. Gina is tall, blonde, with a fake tan and green eyes. In contrast, Sabrina has naturally tan skin, long wavy hair, and chocolate brown eyes. She's as tall as Gina but has a body to die for, every girl's dream. Sabrina is a total bombshell. If only she'd get rid of her dorky glasses and wear sexier clothes. She has a perfect body, according to Gina. Big boobs, big butt, and an hourglass figure. But she hides all that with a baggy shirt and ripped jeans. But tonight is one of those days where she will allow her best friend to dress her up. At least Gina will allow her to wear her glasses. Sabrina cannot function without her glasses. It's not because she cannot see without them, but because it is like a shield for her. She feels like she is invisible to the rest of the world if she wears her glasses. " Alright, babe. I'll see you at seven in your apartment, not at your shop, okay? I'll bring the clothes and the shoes. You have to promise you will wear it, no questions asked and complaining, alright?" Gina reminded her, and she's one tough momma. " God! I hope I won't be too exposed tonight. Please?" Sabrina begged Gina, but knowing her best friend, less is more when it comes to clothes. " Can't promise that, babe. Ciao, Bella, see you tonight!" Gina cut the connection before Sabrina could react. It's four in the afternoon, and she's at their bakeshop. Sales have been slow these days, so she decided to close up early and go to the hospital to visit her mother. She locked her shop and walked a few steps to the flower shop next door. She brought a small cake with her to celebrate with her mother. She baked the cake this morning, a tradition she has followed since her mother was diagnosed with cancer. Her mother has been in and out of the hospital for three years because of cancer. It is one of the reasons why Sabrina has been so hard on herself. She blocks whoever attempts to get close to her. She doesn't have the time for romance right now. Bills have been piling up, and it is giving her anxiety and stress lately. She needed to look for other ways to earn than her small bakeshop. She has a student loan to pay, hospital bills, mortgages, and her shop. Their savings are long gone, and even her emergency money vanished long ago. She desperately needs divine intervention, and a miracle is all she needs to help her get through this trying time. After buying the flowers, Sabrina got into her vintage car and drove toward the hospital. She checked her appearance first before going up to her mom's room. Sabrina must wear a mask again before facing her mother; she doesn't want her to see her stressed and suffering. The least she could do for her mom now is look happy and pretend everything is fine. She has tried hard to make her mother feel at ease and comfortable. She told her that the shop was doing well and that they were okay financially. Although in reality, she is drowning in debts and is feeling lost. She got out of her car and went inside the hospital. The nurses there greeted her when they saw her. Some smiled sadly, and some smiled with encouragement. They all greeted her for her birthday. Her mom probably told everyone that it was her birthday today. She thanked them all before going into her mother's room. The moment the door opened, her mother was already looking her way with a smile, and she smiled back and went closer to hug her and kiss her. " Hey, mom! How are you, my gorgeous?" She kissed her mother's forehead and lay beside her on the bed. " I am feeling better, love. Happy birthday, Sabrina. I am sorry, baby, I should be at home with you and celebrating your birthday." Her mother sadly said. " Mom, it doesn't matter where we are as long as we are together. My birthday comes every year, and we still have many years to come. We can celebrate my birthday daily if you want when you get better, okay?" Sabrina hugged her mother tightly and drowned her fears in her mother's warm embrace. " Come on, gorgeous, let's eat my birthday cake." Sabrina stood up, took the cake out of the box, and placed the candle in the middle. They both sang happy birthday and cheered after she blew the candle. " Happy birthday, my darling." Her mother said and opened her arms for her. She saw the tears threatening to fall from her eyes. Sabrina tried to reign her emotions and smiled at her mother. She can't let her see the fear, despair, and pain in her eyes. She has to be strong for both of them. She stayed for an hour and talked with her mother until it was time for her mother's medicine and nap. She told her that she was going out tonight with Gina. Her mother was happy to hear that she was finally going out. She knew that her daughter had neglected her social life because she was too busy making ends meet. Her mother felt guilty for putting all the responsibilities and problems on her daughter's shoulders. Her daughter should enjoy her life as a single woman, but she has to pause her life because she's sick. Sometimes she prayed that God would take her sooner so her daughter could have her life back. She also prayed that her daughter would meet someone who would love and care for her when she was gone. Sabrina deserved to be loved, and that guy would be so lucky to have her as a wife. " Mom, I gotta go. Gina will be at the house at six. You know that woman, she doesn't like to be kept waiting. I'll come by again tomorrow, okay?" Sabrina kissed her mom's cheek and hugged her again before getting her bag and leaving the room. " Enjoy, my sweet, and happy birthday again." Her mom said. She smiled and walked out of the room. Soon she was on her way to their house and prayed that her best friend would give her some slack and not make her wear a daring dress. She found her best friend waiting for her outside when she arrived home, leaning on her car. " Finally! I thought I'd grow roots here waiting for you, girl!" Gina exaggerated and walked towards her to pull her in a tight hug. " Happy birthday, babe. My God, you're getting old! Tonight you need to get laid! Or at least get a man already!" Gina added dramatically. " Gina, we only talked about going out, not getting a man! I told you, I don't have time for romance right now. What I need is money, not a man." Sabrina answered Gina and walked towards her house, and Gina followed her and rolled her eyes behind Sabrina's back. " Babe, there's nothing wrong with getting a man, and I didn't say you had to marry him right away. What I'm saying is, try to have fun and get laid! Maybe it will help you relax and forget about your problems." Gina pressed and laid on her bed with a thud. " I have no time for shallow relationships, Gina. If I ever want to be involved with someone, I want it to be lasting. I want a man who will stand by and support me, not just love me. " Sabrina explained to her pain-in-the-butt best friend. She took her bathrobe out of the closet and stripped down her clothes. " Ugh! You're such a romantic! So boring! Go and take a shower. We still have a lot to do. Tonight you will turn heads, and mouths will drop on the floor." Her best friend pushed her toward her bathroom. " God! I think I'm going to regret I said yes to you," Sabrina exclaimed and shook her head. " Oh, you're going to enjoy tonight, babe. Guess where we are going? And who will be there tonight?" Gina grinned and winked at Sabrina. " Should I be excited?" Sabrina asked curiously. " Oh, I know you will be, girl. I will tell you after your shower, now go! Make sure you shave!" Gina pushed her inside and closed the bathroom door. After an hour, Sabrina emerged from the bathroom and was shocked to see her best friend dressed up in a not too modest way. Well, what's new with Gina? She has always been the wild one. She's wearing a black skintight, bodycon, and tube-type dress with three-inch stiletto sandals. " Thank God! Come on, let's hurry! We have so much to do, Sab. I have to transform you into the bombshell that you are." Gina dragged Sabrina to the chair and started the hair dyer. She worked through Sabrina's hair and made it look luscious and sexy. Next, she did Sabrina's make-up. She went for a natural look but with smokey, sultry eyes. Sabrina looked like a total babe with her luscious brunette hair, chocolate almond brown eyes, and super-tan skin. Then Sabrina took out her outfit for tonight. " You're f*****g kidding me! You're not expecting me to wear that, do you?" Sabrina roared when she saw the bodycon red dress with a very low cut in front and backless. What's worst, it may not reach mid-thigh. " What did I tell you? No complaining! Now, get this on and hurry up! Your prince charming is waiting. " What, Prince charming?" Sabrina asked her best friend, puzzled. " Well, I had a scoop that the man of your dream is coming to the club tonight. Tonight might be your chance to get his attention, and who knows, maybe you'll get lucky and bring him home with you, or he brings you home." Gina grinned and clapped her hands excitedly. "You are not referring to Brace Donovan, are you?" Sabrina's eyes grew wide, and she suddenly had a panic attack. " The one and only girlfriend. So get your butt in that dress and flaunt that sexy body. I am telling you, no man can resist that body." Gina pointed to the dress and gave Sabrina a threatening stare. " The more I am not wearing this dress! I don't want his first impression of me like a slut, Gin. Please, anything but this," Sabrina begged her best friend. Gina rolled her eyes and took out another bodycon dress, but now a less vulgar one. It was plain black, off the shoulder, and stopped at mid-thigh. She knows her best friend very well, so she brought a backup. She knows whatever Sabrina wears, she will rock it. She is naturally gorgeous and so f*****g sexy it's a shame she hides it from the world. Sabrina gave her a grateful smile and took the dress from her. After putting on the dress, Sabrina gasped in the mirror, looking different as if she were looking at another person. " Since you don't want the dress, can we have a compromise? Can you please get rid of your glasses, just this once? It will ruin the whole bombshell look." Gina stood beside her and stared at her through the mirror. " Okay, okay, I'll concede just for tonight." She agreed, and Gina jumped and hugged her happily. " Now let's go, get your man, sexy." Gina declared, grabbed their bags, and dragged her outside her room. Sabrina had mixed emotions, and she was scared yet excited. She is finally meeting her super crush, Brace Donovan. She hopes she won't make a spectacle of herself when she finally meets him.
