"Demi run!" Alicia's voice pulls me out of my perverted trance, seeing as the boys were closing in on us. Oh Demi, what have you gotten yourself into now! "Alicia!" I yell, seeing that I'm being circled by a bunch of boys in towels hanging down their waist, as my heart picks up pace. "Ohh, look who we have here. It's the new students." one of them says, while chuckling slyly. Pervs!!!! 'Look who's talking, like you didn't just waltz into the boys locker room!'  My subconscious fights me, all while I look left to right, seeing them all as they inch closer like predators finally catching it's prey. The formation of the boys suddenly gets distorted, courtesy of Alicia sliding into their middle, and grabbing me by the wrist before pulling me out of their circle, and out the door with our legs on full kinetic motion of running for our dear lives. "Alicia, this is all your fault!" I pant, as we come to a stop at the hallways. "What! How the hell is it my fault Demi? I'm not the one who asked us to be walking like idiots with our eyes closed." Alicia glares at me, as she speaks while earning her Asian accent to be pronounced. "Well, I'm not the one who agreed to it." I cower under her glare, as I reply. "Really? Really, Demica Henshaw?" she calls my full name deliberately, knowing that when she does that, she is showing me her four months seniority on me. "Oh please!" I brush her off with my right hand displaying my words, as I chuckle. "Like you didn't enjoy it," I chuckle again. "Seeing all those handsome and manly chest," I tease her, as a smirk starts to form on her lips followed by laughter. "My God Demi, I can't believe we did that." she chuckles loudly. "Keep it down A, we are supposed to be in class right now." I tell her, as she puts a hand over her mouth trying to calm down her laughs. Oh Alicia kang! "Let's just skip this class, we're definitely late either way." I tell her, while rolling my eyes. "And whose fault is that, Eh?" she looks at me, as I huff. "Alicia Kang, how many times have I told you that it is bad for the health to deceive oneself. I saw you, I saw the way you were drooling all over them." I tease again, seeing her mouth go wide. "What?  Oh... Oh my... Oh my Gosh," she begins to dramatize, and that includes her changing her stance from left to right, and rubbing a hand through her hair. Typical Asian girl. I laugh at her behavior seeing her stunned at my attitude. "You say that, like I was the one in the middle of those fine boys, fumbling as to where my brain is until your knight in shining princess came to save you. Hey, and you still can't show your gratitude, how disrespectful!" she gets back at me, as I gulp at her words knowing that she is indeed right about my brain going haywire at the locker room. I haven't said anything before Alicia begins to laugh out loud again, as I look at our surroundings to check if anyone hears us. "Oh my God, look at your face," she teases me, as I roll my eyes at her as she is right. My facial expressions sometimes, is something to write home about. "And who do we have here?" The voice pulls us out of our little display. "Miss Kang and Miss Henshaw." "Principal Jones!" Out of reflex, the same words gets uttered by I and Alicia, as we stare at principal Jones who came out of nowhere. "I see you two are skipping class, and if I may guess, deliberately." He says, before he sighs. "May I remind you both that you're in your final year, and even though you are new students doesn't give you the room to skip class on the third day of school resumption," he warns us sternly. "Sir... " "I don't want to hear it!" Principal Jones cuts Alicia off, as she wanted to explain the situation. It's ridiculous as to how Alicia and I are in such a situation, because to think about it, we have only known each other for three days and it feels longer than that. Meeting someone else that is just like me, who likes doing dumb stuffs like the way Patrick and Spongebob acts, but not to that level though as the show, makes me more intrigued with Alicia, and definitely vice versa with her too. This is supposed to be our first period, but due to the mentality Alicia and I have, we acted childish again by trying to walk hand in hand with our eyes closed to our class. Dumb right? But it wasn't, when we were doing it. It was actually fun, because I and Alicia ended up bumping against people and hitting our heads on the wall, and when the bell rang and thought we had entered the classroom, only to open our eyes to be net with a bunch of Peach Potters high soccer team boys, who had just ended morning practice. "I would like to see you both in my office before school ends, and failure to do that would warrant detention and other punishments." Principal Jones add while fixing his tie. An act I have come to notice. "But Sir, we...." "Miss Henshaw, Miss Kang, have a nice day." he cuts me off too, as he leaves us both standing there. How the hell are we supposed to have a nice day? Oh God. I knew it! I knew it!  I told you mom, trouble always seems to find me. "You are so dead Demica Henshaw!" Three days earlier. "Do I have to go?" my eyes making puppy expressions hoping it would work on my parents. "Yes Demica, you have to. It is for your own good." Dad puts a hand over my shoulders. "But, my former school was good too." I try to convince him. "In which you ended up getting detention every week." Mom cuts in, coming closer to us with a handbag in her hand. My parents, William and Rose Henshaw, who gave birth to a daughter whom they named, Demica Henshaw. Me. "It's not my fault. I told you, I think I'm cursed, because trouble is always knocking on my door, saying 'Open up Demica, we're here to play'," I express my words. "And, why would you say that?" my dad asks, stressing on the words pronouncing off his British accent. "Well, we all know about the tales of the African culture and the black magic they have, who knows maybe they did something to mom when she was pregnant with me," I shrug my shoulders, as my dad holds down a laugh. "Demica!" mom warns, while I give her a guilty smile. "Sorry mom." I apologize. "How many times have I told you not to be saying that again. Just because I'm black doesn't mean every black culture studies black magic, and that stuff doesn't even exist," Mom defends, still putting stuffs into her bag. "I'm not saying they're bad mom, in fact I love black culture. The tribes, outfits and so many others to look at, but I know black magic exits." I explain to her. "You should only say something exist, when you have seen one." mom adds. "Well, look at me Ma!" I speak humoristically, but mom only glares at me. "It's the science person in you talking Ma," I shift the conversation. "Okay that's enough now." Dad interferes. "You're not cursed Demica, rather you're a blessing to us." "Thank you daddy, but you're saying that because you're an English man, and you guys don't believe in such stuff," "Demica!" Now mom's furious. "Okay, okay Sorry Ma, I won't talk about it again." I cower under her voice letting me know that is enough. "Do I have to pull your ears again?" Mom speaks sternly. "Nope Ma," I reply with pressed lips together. "With you two, I never get bored," Dad compliments, as all these is just funny to him. Which in my case it's the same, but I dare not laugh in front of my mom, unless I want to take red ears to Peach potters high. Again, why I'm I going to this school? Ohhhhh, my parents think it would create large and wider opportunities for my future. When I first took the exam into the school, I didn't think they were serious about me changing my school, as my mom's statement was 'If you pass you're gonna get anything you want.' And that was how they deceived me, well mostly my mother, into taking the exam and what else do you expect from a straight A student, I passed and have been offered admission. Peach potters high, is one of a kind and one in a thousand, because not only is the school prestigious, but also deciplined for the rich and influential, but most importantly the students with good grades who can keep up with their curriculum. I and my parents, who lived in Britain, but had to relocate to South Africa because of my dad's job, where as my mom decided to set up another of her business here in South Africa, which led to me having to change school across the world. And what better opportunity, when the school turned out to be one of a kind. Peach potters high. My dad, who is a complete white English man, while my mom, a black woman from Africa, who then met my dad in Britain when she was taking her residency, leading to giving birth to a mixed breed, me. At some point, I'm glad we are in Africa, where as I don't exactly have to worry about my skin colour, because back at Britain, it would be a lie to say there weren't some hate towards the kind of colour I have. I love my colour and even if there's a lot of racist people out there, it doesn't mean I would want to change it. Like duh, why would I want to change this fine hair of mine. Oh Demica. Just shut up! "And that is why I shouldn't go, so I can make you laugh. Now if I go, you guys are going to miss me a lot," I continue our conversation. "True, but it's still no excuse. Let's get going young lady, we don't want to be late." Dad ruffles my hair. "Ugh!" I pretend to be mad, as my both parents laugh. ------------- "Remember, your skin is your attraction." "Yeah yeah mom, I know beautiful skin, beautiful Men." I complete her statement, as my dad chuckles. "Oh Demica, you never learn, why do you have cheese balls on your cheek?" Mom dusts my righ cheek with her fingers. "Because I ate cheese balls mom," I remind her. "I know, doesn't mean you have to let everyone know. I've always told you, the skin and heart are the beauty of the soul," she adds. "Yes, Doctor Henshaw," I say in between laughs, as my mom chuckles too. "Let her be dear," Dad comes closer placing a hand on mom's shoulders. My mother, the dermatologist in perfection, who looks like a twenty year old when she's actually in her early forties, but can never be known based on her perfect skin care. She has her own beauty brand which has gone a long way, and the only problem she has is her beautiful daughter, who doesn't want to follow in her footsteps. And it isn't my fault. Growing up and still being a teenager you tend to get break outs here and there, but mother thinks I don't want to follow her skin care routine, or I'm to lazy to be consistent. Which the latter is correct. My father who is the English man, and is supposed to be definite on courtesy and how a lady should be, isn't, but rather, it's my beautiful mother. "I'm going to miss you guys. Really can't I stay, we can always go back," I persist again. "Oh baby girl. we are going to miss you too, but you know we have already registered you in. It's just for three months and you'll be back for the holiday," Dad tries to make me feel better. "Yeah, and before coming back again for another session." "It's a boarding school Demi, I'm sure it won't be all that bad." Mom cuts in. "Fine, fine. But make sure you both check up on me every week, and always come for the visiting days." I tell them while holding both their hands. "We definitely will. I'll miss you baby, come here." mom pulls me in for a motherly hug, as I hold her tight and no matter how we bicker most of the time, she is the love of my life. She and my dad. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to call us, alright?" Dad says, as we pull apart while I nod my head. "Come her baby girl," dad also pulls me into a hug. I pull my mom again into the hug with my father, as my eyes starts to well up. "I don't want you guys to go." I hold them tight, muffling against their bodies. "We're still with you baby," mom caress my back. We pull apart, as I stare at my mother, and only that sight is enough to bring the tears down. I'm not a baby, I just have never been to a boarding school before, though mom and dad have left me home alone countless time when on a trip. "You're making this harder to leave baby girl," Dad wipes my eyes, as mom caress my hands. "That's the plan," I sniffle with a light chuckle, as they do the same. "Be good Demica. Take care of yourself, and know that mom and dad love you so much." mom tells me. "I know, and I love you two," I tell them, pulling them into one last hug, before we say our goodbyes and they leave. I go to my room which has already been arranged for me before mom and dad left, after doing a tour around the hostel. It's a room of four, and by the time we were there no one was in, but we were assured the other students had already resumed earlier today. "Hi!" I turn around instantly, forgetting the door I was about to close, only to see an Asian pretty looking girl, with auburn hair waving at me with a huge smile.  "I'm Alicia kang. You must be one of the roommates?" she walks closer to me, as I nod my head at her question. "Thank God, I thought I was going to sleep alone in this room... Oh my... thinking about it now is even more scary.  What if everyone suddenly mysteriously disappears and then this turns into an horror movie where.... " she doesn't complete her statement, as I begin to laugh at her already blabbering at the first meeting with me. "Well, looks like you'll not be the only one again, if that happens," I tell her still chuckling.  "By the way, I'm Demica Henshaw, and I love your hair." I introduce whilst complimenting her. "Oh this? Nothing some mixtures of hair dyes can't do. I can tell you all about it, while we unpack," she offers friendly. "That would be great." Present Day: Two hours earlier. "It's just school A, all these doesn't matter," I tell her. "Aisshh.. Demi, it is not just school, this is not just your typical high school. Tell me, why did you think your parents sent you here," she asks me, while combing my natural curly locks as I wince lightly. "Obviously because it's one of a kind." I answer her question. "Exactly, and why is it one of a kind?" she asks again, this time covering my eyes with my hair. "Well, because as soon as you're graduating, opportunities are laying down for you. You don't need to stress hard before you get into college, as only your certificate does that for you, and even after graduating college, job opportunities are right under your feet, all courtesy of Peach Potters high, which is why it is extremely hard to get in." I explain to her. "Dumbass," she smacks my head, as I wince in pain. "Ow! Why did you do that?" I hold the back of my head. "Because Demi, peach potters high isn't just that. Why do you think it's extremely hard to get in? Because it is for the rich and influential, along with students who have the brains to top it all. So, not only are we here to study, but to also catch some fishes we see in the river," she tell me, as I look around me trying to find a particular word in all her statement. "But I don't see any river near us, so where are the fishes?" I pretend not to know that she's using a figure of speech, whereby the boys are the fishes, and the river is the school. "Aisshhh..." she smacks my head again, this time earning a chuckle from me as I pretend dumb. "We're in our senior year Demi, we should make it memorable," Alicia adds. "Fine I get it, but first we have to get to school. We have only an hour left," I tell Alicia, as our two other roommate, Daisy and Chloe wave us goodbye as they proceed to class. "Yep, I'm done with your hair. Let's go," Alicia says, as I get up looking at my pocket mirror seeing my hair on a nice curls. "Oh, this is nice. I look like Yara shahidi," I run a hand through the curls. "Even more beautiful, come on let's go," Alicia drags me. "Blow my head A, you know how to do it right," I say, as we both chuckle. We walk down the hallways, as Alicia and I talk about how the uniforms fits on every single person that pass us.  A shade of navy blue blazer and a flay  skirt, along with a white or grey long sleeved shirt, with a tie. "Hey A, do you want to try something fun?" I ask with a mischievous grin on my lips. "Let's hear it Demi Lovato," she says, as we chuckle at the nickname she gave me. "How about we walk to class with our eyes closed, and see if we can do it after three days of starting school," I tell her. "Oh, that's sounds interesting, but we might loose each other," Alicia thinks. "Then, we'll hold each others hand. So wherever I go, you go and vice versa," I tell her. "Alright I'm in!" Alicia says with excitement. "We have twenty minutes left," she adds, as we both smile mischievously. We close our eyes, as our hands find one another, holding it firm. "Don't peek A," I tell her through closed eyes. "And what would be the fun in that," she says, as we both chuckle before we begin walking. We start walking slowly trying to get our pace, as we soon increase our speed and bumping into other people. Our class is the next hallway, by the right, so we still have some steps to go. "Are we almost there Demi?" Alicia asks. "I think we are, I just need to open the door," my hands roam around the firm door trying to place my fingers on the knob. We don't have to worry about the teacher being in class, because we'll be early. In other words, he won't have to see us doing this. I get a grip of the knob, as I open the door, while Alicia and I open our eyes. "We did it A!" I tell her in happiness, while looking at her "Um... Demi, I don't think we did," Alicia looks at me, and back to her front. "Oh, mother of creation!" I exclaim, looking at the room to be blessed by a bunch of boys all shirtless. "Where are we Demi?" Alicia asks, following my gaze. "Apparently we're in the boys locker room." I reason. we both jump at the sudden shutting of the door, bringing us back to our senses that we are indeed where we supposed not to be. Thinking of it now, our class is supposed to be by the next hallway, but the ride was longer than expected, which definitely explains where we are. "Alicia, what is happening?" we move forward into the room, as the boys behind us start to close in, all while muttering stuffs to one another, in devious smiles. Soon we're both in the middle of a bunch of boys as they high five one another, teasing us to the core. Oh my goodness Demi! Present Day and Time. Not only did we get caught by the principal, but would also be the talk of the school. "You are so dead Demica Henshaw!" Alicia says again, for the second time in a minute. And that was how it all happened on  the first three days of a boarding school they call, Peach Potters high.
