Layne took a drink of his coffee before replying. “I have a list as long as my arm of old houses and buildings Mitch wants me to photograph for the magazine’s cover story. They’re calling it Why Haven’t These Been Restored to Their Original Beauty?” “Awfully long title.” “I know, but who am I to argue.” Layne worked for an architectural magazine of some renown as one of its photographers.
