Hunter’s teacup fell to the floor and shattered across the patio. Rushing to the door of the bathroom, he found it locked. In a panic, he took a few steps back and made a running start at the door, using his shoulder to ram it open. He found Daisy curled up on the bathroom floor, her body shaking and her eyes wide with fear. The bathroom mirror lay shattered in thousands of pieces across the tile floor. “Daisy, are you alright? What happened?” “I’m sorry, I-I thought I saw something, but I was mistaken.” “Mistaken?” Hunter asked incredulously. “What did you think you saw?” “It’s nothing.” “Your hand!
