The compound that we are currently in has a complete facility so they don't give us any chance to get out of there.
Different stores where we can buy our clothes. Entertainment establishment where we can go on our day off. And other activity centers to enhance our physical ability such as a gymnasium where we can play some indoor sports, a pool that we can use whenever we want, a fitness gym where the boys would visit very often, and other outdoor sports court that we can use if it is necessary.
There is one food store here but we can buy limited goods only since they are deciding our diet plan to ensure that we will stay healthy.
And since we already decided to stay, Chio remove his pets from our dorm's staircase so I can finally move into the whole building without restrictions.
"Hey..." I looked at Jelah who was standing in my doorway. "They said that we need to go to the gymnasium. We will start our orientation there."
"Do we need to bring our things?"
She shook her head. "Just some paper for—" She sighed. "Why would I bother to tell you? You don't even want to leave your bag. Just fix yourself and let's get going, okay."
Well, I told you before; I don't want to leave my things out of my sight so I will bring them no matter where I am going.
I grab my bag and immediately follow Jelah. And when we reach the main door of our dorm building, I can't help but frown when I saw Chio and his three damn dogs that are guarding the exit.
"So, you change your locations, huh." I glared at those dogs and they did the same at me. Jeez! I am not a dog person.
"Well, they still think that you will do something crazy so they just place us here," he said laughing as he pats the head of his dogs. "It looks like they choose these three just for you."
"Don't give me a chance because I will s***h the neck of your dogs."
"Hey." Jelah flicked my forehead. "That's bad. You shouldn't think of anything bad to these cute dogs." Then she patted those damn creatures.
"Cute?" I frowned. "They are monsters in my eyes."
"Hey... Hey... Hey..." Maki, Ives, and Kris arrived at the exit where we are still standing.
Maki immediately put his hand on my shoulder. "What is happening here?"
"Well, you all know how Shira and Chio's dogs like each other," Jelah said while laughing which made me frown more. They like bullying me, huh."
"Don't mind those dogs, Shira," Maki said. "I will protect y—Ahhhh!" And he runs fast when those dogs try to bite him which makes my friends laugh. "You are an evil one, Chio!"
I just shook my head and sighed. I guess, I should need to avoid this creature. Getting bit by them will only mean one thing. Needle.
The thing I hate the most.
We arrived at the Gymnasium and the first thing I notice is that aside from us, there are also a lot of newcomers there. Are they also kidnapped by the organization?
"If you are thinking that we kidnapped them, then quit it."
I look at Meir who's standing beside me. Geez! I didn't even notice that he is already there.
"You and your friends were the only people we kidnapped this year because you are more talented than the organization surely regrets if someone else will have you," he said and looks at me. "So don't think that we are bad. We just want what is best for our organization so that we can finish the project that we are all working on."
"I..." I averted my eyes from him. "I didn't think that you are all bad."
"That's good." He patted my head which make me look at him again and he smile. "Well, most of them are recruited by a lot of our staff and passed through the normal yet secured process to become students here. You know, we are still a secret organization so we have to be careful."
"Then, we are the only ones who forced?"
"You are the only one we forced." he corrected. Ah, yeah. Did they make their own choice while me? I don't have a choice because I was too reckless. "Anyway, why did you bring your bag with you?" He pointed at my bag. "I told Jelah not to bring—"
"As if I will leave my things out of my site."
He sighs and shook his head. "You don't know how to follow a simple instruction, huh."
"No. I know how to follow the instructions that you will give but if it has something to do with leaving my things, especially my laptop behind? Sorry, I will argue with you until you surrender." I hugged my bag tight. "I can't live without these with me so you don't have any choice here, do you?"
He stares at me and then sighs again. "Fine." He raises his hand showing a sign of surrender. "I won't argue with you anymore about that thing. You can always bring it with you but we won't be taking any responsibility if your t—"
"I know." I cut him. "I won't blame any of you if something might happen so don't worry about that."
"Good. See you later at our class." He messed my hair before he walk away and left.
The first time I met Meir, I thought he is kind of cold and, you know, snob. But now, I have finally proven that don't judge the book by its cover. You will never know the attitude of a person unless you will spend a lot of time with them.
"Shira..." Jelah locked her arms around me. "Are you getting along with your instructor?"
I nod. "He is strict with a lot of things but I think we can get along. How about you? I still don't know who your instructor is."
"That woman." She pointed to a sophisticated woman who was wearing a black dress and a high wedge. A typical high-class woman in our society. "Her name is Scylla. I don't know her surname but apparently, she is the current director of this organization."
My eyes widen after I heard what she said. "What?"
She laughs. "We had the same reaction when I also heard that but yeah; the director of this organization will personally teach me all the things about computers. Am I that special? Or maybe I am not that good so they put some pressure on me?"
"Hey, don't say that." I hugged her. "You know that you are special, right?"
"Oh." She finches my cheeks. "You are so cute when you are trying to console me. But you don't have to worry. I know I don't have a talent like you but I can work hard for that. And I am sure my hard working skills are the reason why they also choose me, right?"
I didn't answer because I don't even know what to say. I just hug her tight. She's doing this for me and I don't know what I am going to do in return.
She held my hand and faces me with a genuine smile. "I know that you are still worried about me but I told you, right? I will stay with you no matter what happens. Let's just be grateful to them because even if I don't have the talent that they are looking for, they still gave me a chance to learn more about the things that we both love to do. Okay?"
I smiled and nod. "If you say so then I won't think anymore. Just tell me if you need help in your subject."
"I will tell you that."
__________
After the opening ceremony of this year's batch, we immediately headed to our designated classroom where our instructors are waiting.
We also do have our classroom so that our instructors can teach us properly without distractions.
And the room where we are holding our lessons for the whole 4 years? Well, it is filled with lots of computers and monitors. Different specs and has different kinds of systems and programs that make my eyes sparkle while I was checking it.
The thing is the first time I saw a lot of high-level programs.
"You look like a kid." Meir enters our classroom and put his notes on the table. "Do you like what you see?"
I immediately nod. "I love it. All of these systems are amazing. Do you know who built this?"
He nod and pointed himself. "Me."
My eyes widen as I look at him. "You?" I pointed to those monitors where the amazing programs are being displayed. "You create all these programs?"
He nods again.
"You're kidding."
"I am always serious, Shira," he said. "Anyway, let's just start with the basics so I can assess your ability in creating a system. Ayane told me that your talent is one of a kind. But I first need to know what you know and you didn't know." He pointed to one of the monitors. "You can use that."
I still can't believe that someone like him can create this system.
Then, he must be a computer genius.
"Show me what you got, Yeshira."
Oh. He is challenging me. Then I will make sure that he will regret this.
I stretched and approached the monitor he was pointing at me.
Then I started to type on the keyboard.
"Familiarize yourself with that system first then If you are ready, use it to hack my phone." He showed his phone and put it on the table beside him.
"Okay." And secretly cuss.
Okay, I lost my pride after I started using this program.
Why? Well, it is not that easy to use and control. I have to use so many commands to make sure that I am not going to make any mistakes.
Plus, Meir didn't make it easy for me.
He is using another computer to prevent me from hacking his cellphone and that was the real challenge here.
Damn it!
I regret what I said earlier. This system is really hard to use. I can't even pass to the first firewall that Meir set up.
"Yah! I quit!" I pushed the keyboard away from me.
I never saw a system like this before that even I who they called a genius can't even use completely just to hack some kind of phone.
He approached me and laid his hand on my head. "Being confident about what you can do is okay. But bragging too much about is not a no. Yes, you might be a genius and it is easy for you to learn this kind of thing but always remembers that you are not the only one who has the same talent you have."
"I know that."
"There are still many people out there who are better than you and your name will never be included in their ranks if you become so arrogant."
"I am not being arrogant," I said. "I just know my capabilities but that doesn't mean I am not willing to learn more."
"Then, start by acknowledging me as your mentor."
I frowned at him.
He put his hand in his pocket. "We both know that in your mind, you think that someone like me doesn't have anything to teach you, right?"
I avoided his eyes.
Am I really that arrogant?
I thought of that especially when I found out who Jelah's instructors were. Those people are high profile in this organization and here's mine.
Well, I don't know anything about him so I think he is just some kind of loser compared to the other instructors.
But now that I witness and use the system that he created, I think I am luckier than my friends.
I look at him and offer my hands. "I will be in your hands, Sir Meir. Please teach me everything you know."
Computer programs, system, and hacking is my thing. And if they can teach me all of that here, then I will gladly accept this situation I'm in.
No more backing out. No more doubting. No more complaints.
Just accepting and striving to learn everything they can teach me.
Well, it's not a bad deal for me.
