Chapter 3 Noble intentions Hailey Sats at 78 percent. Blood pressure at 10 x 7. The patient is hypotensive and his saturation is not very good. He's an elderly man who arrived at the emergency room with a head injury. Apparently, according to his relatives, he slipped in the bathroom and, without any support bar, fell with all his might. I report to my superior, Andrew. I take a deep breath. I'm tired of this shift. It's been 24 hours. “What should you do then, Miss Hailey?” he asks. I'm standing next to two other fellow residents. Dana, who wears a white scarf even inside the hospital, when in fact, the snow is outside. However, if you look closely, the ice is also coming from Andrew's gaze, which makes everything colder. On my other side is Jess, who just watches and takes notes. “Well, I'd ask for a complete blood count, with glucose levels, and also a CT scan of the skull.” I reply, clearing my throat straight away. “All right, what are you doing standing there?” he says in an authoritative tone. That's who he is. Really, because we know each other intimately. Obviously it was only once at Hazel and Jonathan's wedding, but I wanted more. It was a big surprise to meet him at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and an even bigger surprise when I discovered that he was the head of Orthopaedics, which consequently made him my supervisor. At first, we were shocked and then we established rules for getting along. Andrew didn't try to get any closer and I respected that, with a lot of regret. I squint. How handsome he is... Andrew has a neatly trimmed beard, a tapered nose, fair skin, but not too fair, and green eyes. He hardly ever touches me, but when our hands bump into each other, and I think he does it on purpose so that I remember, my mouth fills with water and my skin crawls. We both know he’s forbidden. A commoner like me certainly knows that a prince of Monaco is forbidden. But that didn’t put a damper on the two wonderful nights we had... We had... Past! Finally, he snaps his fingers in front of my eyes. “You’re in Dubai?” I look at him ironically. “I’d love to, but I’m here.” I know who he means. Alex. I haven’t had anything to do with my sister’s security guard for so long! He chose his life with the royalty of Dubai, he’s a security guard for the Sheik. He could never go out like that anyway. And he made his choice. But it seems that Andrew makes me want to remember him, or does he feel threatened? That’s interesting. “Tell me more about the patient,” he says, sitting down and asking the nurse for a cup of cappuccino. I know it was me who took him in... Annoying... “I know that. He arrived with low saturation and...” “I already know that” Look at the paperwork without looking at me anymore. ”I want you to tell me how he got hurt” “The family should say that, excuse me...” I walk away, turning my back on him, but I hear his resounding voice echoing through the room, bouncing off the walls. “Hailey White” I close my eyes. I remember our one night and how easily he overpowered me... This man has incredible power over me and makes me stop like a dog at the sound of a whistle. I turn my body on the soles of my heels towards him, biting my lip. I slowly look up into his eyes and that’s where we meet. He closes his eyes and licks his lips, slowly examining me. “So you didn’t ask the patient’s family how he fell? What kind of doctor do you want to be?” He stands up and I pray he doesn’t touch me so that I can leave this room with some dignity. All Andrew wants most is for me to beg. Beg for a night in a car in the hospital parking lot. A car with totally blacked"out windows... But I won’t do that. I passed the point of thinking that this was just a casual night in the car and I was in love. Shit... He doesn’t know, and he never will if it’s up to me. The problem is that I firmly believe he knows in other ways. Like when we show more in our eyes than we want to show. Unfortunately, perhaps I’m one of those people that others can easily read. My body expression gives me away, makes a fool of me. And I don’t know what to do to change that. “I asked. He fell in the bathroom when he let go of the walker.” “Do you know what medication he takes?” He circles me coldly, calculatingly so as not to touch me, and does everything slowly, trying to make eye contact. He knows he can’t do anything I don’t want, but he keeps tempting me to want it. “Atenolol, Atensin... “I try to remember off the top of my head without picking up the chart. “The chart is on the table”. Finally, I gather the courage to look deep into his eyes. He sees me as an easy target, someone he can easily take advantage of. Unfortunately, I find myself at a disadvantage. After all, he’s my boss... All he wants is for me to fall into temptation, but I’ll hold my head high and face him. “Of course” I turn around, my back to him. After all, is he crazy? I wouldn’t try anything in his unlocked room with the shutters open! He’s a prince! All they want is to catch him in a vexatious situation to expose on the internet and make his father mad in Monaco. His mother, too, the whole family. I pick up the chart and finish reading the medication Mr. Wilson takes. “He’s diabetic too.” “That’s why you ordered the glucose test. Very well.” He decided to sit down again, but it was as if a hurricane had hit me from all sides as he surrounded me.” You can go home, Hailey, you should rest.” “Thank you, sir. Thank you Andrew.” “I’m leaving too, if you want a motorcycle ride, I’ll drop you off at the apartment” “No,” I reply, panting. What immense power he has over me! ”It’s okay.” Andrew smiles and nods. “See you on Sunday then.” “See you Sunday.” Normally, I never get more than three hours’ sleep on a 24"hour shift in this hospital. I see Andrew watching me from a distance. He’s head of orthopaedics, but I know it’s down to him. The Prince of Monaco is extremely competent and intelligent. He has never used his title to achieve anything. At least not while he was with me for two nights. I change my clothes, still shaken. I need to rest and also get out of the house for a while. Tonight I intend to sleep in, but on Saturday, I intend to drink and dance. Alone, of course. But my plans never turn out the way I want them to. Of course, Andrew would show up.
