"No, you’re not", I affirmed, stroking her hair back to calm her down. I hated to see her in so much pain; it was hard for me to bear, and I knew I had no choice but to tell her. "Nora...", I called her name softly, and all that left her lips was a whimper.
I gently settled her back to the bed as I watched her face contour in pain.
"Lord Madison, please don’t leave me", Nora said as she grasped my arm and pulled me down to her. As much as I hate to see her in pain, I needed her permission so I could help her.
