As I made my way to them, I held her gaze and saw her roll her eyes and look away. She looked different and lively today, and it’s all thanks to my mother's hospitality.
“You are here?’’ I asked Mother and saw her nod.
“Why didn’t you ask me to bring you? I was expecting you tomorrow.’’ I spoke in a calm tone so that she wouldn’t notice the uneasiness in my voice . She was supposed to arrive tomorrow and meet Vera at the mansion, but her surprise arrival made me uncomfortable.
‘’Yes, I decided to surprise you.’’ She said while getting on her feet. ‘’I didn’t know we’ve gotten a new library keeper.’’ She spoke while flashing a big smile at Nora, which turned my stomach. This was Mother, always open to making new friends.
