Prologue
It's not every day to witness a pure amazing thing, as watching a human body reshaping into something extraordinary. Something that is only an imagination, a fairy-tale.
Lucia Mary-Anne Winston witnessed her daughter turn into a wild animal. It was coloured in pure gold, an amazingly strong creature, a wolf.
It was after her husband passed away, after many years of him suffering from cancer. His day had come, Adam Julian Winston was not a wealthy man but he could provide for his family.
He was diagnosed with leukaemia when he was still a teenager, luckily he survived many years of his life. This time he was not as lucky as before.
He saved some money for his daughter, he ensured the rights were given to her after he passed. He wanted her to have access to the money, no matter how young she was. He opened a bank account for her and saved as much as he could for his daughter.
Mika Alysia Winston and her father were close, she was heartbroken when he died. The pain was so deep, she thought she too was dying.
She had been preparing herself for this day but realised later, you really can never be prepared for something like that. Losing someone you love dearly, is like losing a part of yourself. It hits you hard to the very core, to the depths of your soul.
She felt herself suffocating, choking, she couldn't breathe. She was crying her heart out in pain and loss. When she suddenly could hear bells ringing in her head. The pain was excruciating, she could feel her body reshaping to something she was not aware of.
This was the first time Mika showed her emotions. She was afraid and didn't understand what was happening. This scared her because she felt, whatever was going on or what she was turning into, might harm her mother. She knew it was not natural.
Her pain had triggered something dark and dangerous inside her. She could feel her anger, it was so intense. It made her shiver with fear and worry. The pain she felt was like days had come by and left, yet there was no end to it.
She was burning yet not sick, she felt like she was being toasted. Her body was shaking as if she was frozen in the snow, yet so hot as if Lucifer himself was burning her flesh.
She just wished the devil had not possessed her soul, her poor mother to witness such evil happen to her daughter. She was very much aware many things were happening, and it was giving her a headache. This meant danger and trouble.
What in God's name was happening to her?
After some time, it all suddenly stopped.
She felt so tired. But she was curious why suddenly everything seemed so clear, and why she could smell everything so sharply?
This was amazing, she can also smell her mother's curiosity. She was confused.
How was she able to smell that, and how did she know it was curiosity? How was that even possible?
Her mother gasped and said, "My God! Am I dreaming?" looking at her mother, Mika wondered what was the drama all about?
What was happening?
"My darling you are beautiful. You look so strong and fearless, the fire in your silver-grey eyes is mesmerizing." Her mother said with pride and amazement.
Since when did I have silver-grey eyes? Mika asked herself.
"Mika baby, you are a wolf. A gold big a*s wolf" exclaimed her mother. It was very strange this woman was amazed instead of being petrified.
A wolf?
Her mother must be crazy.
Mika was sure her mother had lost it. There was no way she turned into a feral animal but her mother was still standing there not eaten by her.
When she tried to voice her thoughts out, what came out was something between a snort and a hiss. She got confused.
What the hell was that?
Mika instinctively looked down. What she saw were paws instead of legs and feet.
Panicked Mika ran for the stairs going to her room, in her hurry, she was breaking the stuff in the house. Her mom kept on telling her to slow down, however, all of this fell on deaf ears. There was no way she was slowing down, there must be a mistake here.
She cannot have paws. People do not just turn into animals. It was just unheard of and unnatural.
Were supernatural for really? Mika was going crazy in panic. It just didn't make sense for this to have happened.
She always thought the people who wrote those kinds of stories just had wild imaginations. There Mika stood in front of her mirror, shocked.
Well, it was confirmed. She was a wolf, a f*****g animal.
Mika didn't know how to feel about this. Was she supposed to be happy or scared?
She stood there for what seemed like forever until she came to an understanding. She can turn into an animal and the only problem now was, how in hell will she change back to her human form?
Will she stay this way forever? What will her mother do? What was the purpose of her turn?
Mika had many questions, which she could not answer on her own. This was scary if she was being honest.
Her wolf was beautiful, that is a fact. It would be a lie if she said she was not impressed and kinda loving her new form. She knew now if she ever felt frustrated, she will go for a run as a wolf, but first things first.
She needs to find all the information she can about what just transpired, and she was not going to rest until she got all the answers.
This was her life now, all she knew was that she just changed into this animal in mere hours. She knew many challenges were on her way, and also the excitement of knowing the unknown was exhilarating.
'Ah, how was she going to turn back?'
Maybe she should try what is always written in those fictional books.
Think about her human form...
Mika had a long night that night. She didn't just lose her father but gained something more. She understood that her life will never be the same but also was not aware of the many obstacles she was to face.
Mika learned of some of her responsibility in her dreams, daily she was getting memories that were not hers. Some were triggered by similar situations. She was like someone who had amnesia. She never knew when she will get new memories or experience something horrific.
Mika was in darkness, and she had no way of getting out but to accept her reality.
