27 - Pride vs Honor

The trip back to the city and to the Royal Seat is a long one, and I fell asleep after a bit. Elijah wakes me up when we make a stop along the way, to stretch our legs and have some lunch. He finds a nice little park somewhere and it is blessedly empty, except for a few squirrels and birds chirping up on the branches of the surrounding trees. There is also a small pond with tadpoles instead of fish. We spot a bench and we decide to sit there to eat our lunch. I sigh blissfully at the first bite of the turkey sandwich Maria made for us. “Your mom is doing this on purpose, I say, spoiling us like this… making the most delicious food so we’ll come running back for more.” I tell him as I finish the last bits. “Goodness, now I’m going to compare every other food to hers, including Lila’s.”
