AFTER A VERY FINE AND convivial lunch, I say I have another appointment that afternoon. Win thanks me for coming and says he has some business calls to make. Rebecca walks me to the door.
“Thank you for coming,” Rebecca says. “I hope Win didn’t press you too much about Father McCoy.”
“He was direct about it,” I say. “I understand where he’s coming from. He cares about your sister very much.”
She gives a short laugh. “Oh yes, Win cares about Rachel, that’s for sure.” At my raised eyebrows, she shakes her head. “Never mind, Father. It’s nothing. Thanks for coming.”
