Chapter 2: He Makes Me Giddy

1756 Words
I was unfortunately stuck in a meeting during lunch time so I was not able to pick my son up from school. I called his nanny to ensure that they both got home safe. I spoke to my son for a bit and he seemed to have had a good time on his first day of school. He can’t stop talking about his new friend Stephen. When I got home that night, Marcus couldn't stop talking about what they did at school. He could barely eat as he talked about how they sang and danced some songs and they drew their favorite superhero. He likes Spiderman, and he showed me his drawing of a lopsided teenage web-slinger. I thought it was the best drawing I have ever seen, and I asked if I could keep it. I plan to have it framed and displayed in my office. Marcus also told me about the friends he’s met, but he can’t stop talking about Stephen. They both drew Spiderman and they seem to both love Marvel’s Avengers heroes. After dinner, I got Marcus ready for bed, and he fell asleep almost as soon as he hit the covers. I gave him a kiss on the forehead before heading out of his room. I still had some emails to reply to, so I went to my home office and turned my laptop on. I couldn’t help but smile as I saw my wallpaper, which is a picture of me and Marcus laughing. It was an impromptu shot taken by my uncle, and I loved the picture so much. I couldn’t help but think of his dad every time I looked at Marcus. How could I not? He looks more and more like him everyday. I’ve always imagined what it would be like when Marco sees Marcus for the first time. Would he recognize their resemblance? I have been low-key stalking Marco for the past few years. I know that he has become a famous chef in New York, and his restaurant even has Michelin Stars. Other than that, I can’t find any other information. I wonder how the twins are, and how his marriage to Jessica is going. I wonder if Miko’s all better now. I decided to just focus on the emails and forget about Marco for now. During the first few years, I still felt my heart aching whenever I thought about Marco. Nowadays, it still hurts, but not as much anymore. The fact that I got attracted to Eric when I met him a few days ago could be an indication that I am finally ready to move on. I’ve met a lot of attractive men in the past five years, and I even dated Sean for a bit, but none of them piqued my interest the way Eric did. In the next few days and weeks, I kept seeing Eric in school whenever I sent Marcus to school. I was somehow excited to see him everyday, and I made it a point to smile at him and greet him whenever we saw each other. It was nice to see him, but I was hoping he’ll talk to me more and even ask for my number, but he never did. Maybe he just wasn’t interested in me that way. That’s too bad, because I was finally ready to move on. One day, I didn’t see Eric at school. I stayed as long as I could thinking he might just be late. I finally had to leave and I was somehow disappointed when I didn’t see him. He was still missing in action in the next few days. I can’t explain why his absence somehow makes me sad. On Friday, I was on my casual outfit when I sent Marcus to school. I was wearing jeans, a white v-neck shirt and wedges. I had a blazer that I was going to put on when I got to the office later. I had a bit of a cleavage showing, My bo*bs got bigger when I got pregnant, and it has grown into a D cup from a C cup. I didn’t mind, except that I had to update my wardrobe and buy new br*s. I was on my phone standing outside the gate of Marcus’ school. I just dropped him off and I am waiting until they have gone to their classrooms before leaving. I almost jumped when I heard a baritone voice whispering in my left ear “Hello gorgeous.” I turned left and couldn’t help but smile as I saw Eric looking handsome as ever standing next to me. His face looks freshly shaven and his previously unkempt hair now looks neat. As usual, he smells so good. Krista: “Hey. Where have you been?” Eric: “Why do you ask? Did you miss me?” I did miss him in a way. I’m not going to admit it, though. Krista: “Uhm, I was just curious. I haven’t seen you all week.” Eric: “Were you looking for me?” Krista: “There aren’t a lot of dads here, so it’s not hard to not notice if you’re here or not.” Eric: “Not to mention not a lot of dads look as handsome as I do, right?” I couldn’t help but chuckle. He’s not wrong, but he’s acting unusually cocky today. Krista: “Conceited much?” Eric: “Well, if you must know, I was busy at work. There was a new project that we’re working on, and we had to finish the proposal.” Krista: “Oh, okay. What do you do?” Eric: “I’m an Engineer. I run a construction company, and we offer full services from designing to building, and furnishing the structure.” Krista: “Wow, that’s impressive. Why don’t you give me your card, in case we need a contractor next time.” He grinned while pulling out a business card from his wallet and handing it over to me. Eric: “That was really smooth.” Krista: “Huh? What do you mean?” Eric: “You could have just asked for my number without making up excuses, you know? I would have given it to you.” Krista: “Why would I want to ask your number, unless I needed something from you?” I stiffened as he whispered in my ear once more. Eric: “Because you want to ask me out on a date.” I turned to look at him which put our faces close to each other. I didn’t want him to think that he just hit the nail on the head. Krista: “Why would I want to ask you out on a date? Maybe it’s you who want to ask me out.” Eric: “Do you want me to ask you out?” He kept our face on the same level and I saw his eyes lower to my lips which I was now biting, I couldn’t reply to him. Eric: “Well, gorgeous, you now have my number. Use it however you want.” I couldn’t help but gulp some air as he kept looking at my face just a few inches away. I was finally able to breath when he stood straight back up and turned to walk away, but not before saying goodbye. Eric: “See you around gorgeous.” I stood frozen in place until my driver got my attention asking if I’m ready to go. I wasn’t, but I had to move. I don’t want to be late for work. As we were driving towards the office, I looked at Eric’s business card and I kept thinking of any plausible reason to contact him. I wonder if we have any projects that require a contractor at the moment. I can check with my uncle later. I decided to save his number on my phone just in case I needed to contact him. I can’t help but smile at how playful Eric was earlier. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say he was flirting with me. I didn’t flirt back, and acted all defensive. In the old days, I would have probably pulled him towards the car and rode him until we both reached our clim*x. That was the old Krista. The new Krista is careful and hasn’t had s*x in five years. I kept smiling as I can’t help imagining what Eric would look like naked. I decided to send him a message. Krista: “This is Krista. You now have my number. Use it however you want.” I was surprised when I got a reply back right away. Eric: “Are you trying to get me to ask you out?” Krista: “No. It’s not fair that I have your number and you don’t have mine. Now you can contact me whenever you want.” Eric: “In case I do decide to ask you out, would you happen to be free this weekend?” Krista: “I don’t know. I can tell you for sure if you ask me out.” Eric: “Hmm, playing hard to get, are we?” Krista: “No, I’m not. You haven’t even asked me out, so how can I play hard to get.” Eric: “Well, I might ask you out this weekend. I hope you’re free when I do.” Krista: “I’m a busy person. I can’t guarantee that.” Eric: “We’ll see. I’ll talk to you later, Krista.” Krista: “Later.” I couldn’t help but giggle like a teenager. I’m trying to control myself since I’m a little ashamed of how I am acting. I’m 30 years old for crying out loud. Why am I all giddy just because a man messaged me?
