I kept looking at Krista waiting for her to say something. All of a sudden, she closed the box, gave it back to me and said “Is this some kind of joke? I don’t get it.”
Eric: “What are you talking about? I’m not joking.”
I took the box, opened it and my eyes went wide as I found the box empty. I couldn’t suppress an “Oh sh*t!” as realization dawned on me. With all the commotion earlier, I forgot that I’d actually given the ring to the waiter earlier to put in Krista’s food.
Yes, I took the leap and have decided to ask Krista to marry me. I know we’ve only been together for a short time, but I am willing to take the long engagement route until she’s ready to marry me. Besides, she can always say no, and I can ask her again later.
