Chapter 7: Complications Elena’s P.O.V: Lara, as Dr. Johnson insisted I call her, applied a bit of gel on my stomach, which still looked normal even though I was about three months pregnant. But when I’d told Lara about my concern, she simply smiled and told me that my tummy wouldn’t be that noticeable until I was about five months pregnant. “Just relax honey; you’ll be able to see your baby in a little while.” Lara said as she used the probe on my lower abdomen to find the right spot. It didn’t take long before an image appeared on the screen and Lara turned the computer slightly in my direction and there it was! My baby! I felt tears well up in my eyes at the sight of the tiny bundle that looked more alien than human. “It’s so tiny!” I whispered to Helena, who was standing right beside me, holding on to my hand tightly. “Of course it is,” Helena smiled down at me, “you were just as tiny when your mother was three months pregnant with you.” I’d never expected to feel this overwhelming sense of joy when I first saw my baby. Until now, I’ve had so many mixed feelings about my baby; at one point I’d even thought about an abortion, but the thought itself had sent me into nightmares. How could I just end a life of something so small when it didn’t even have the capacity to think for itself? Most of all, how could I end the life of something that looked up to me for protection? “Lara?” I looked up at the doctor only to find her frowning at the computer, her jaw set in a hard line. “Lara, is everything okay?” Lara didn’t say anything for the longest time, just kept looking at the image from different angles until Helena asked her the same question. Lara sighed and put the probe back on to its holder, then took a paper towel and wiped the gel off of my stomach before telling me to join her in her chamber. Helena and I looked at each other for one moment, worry clouding our eyes, but Helena helped me get down from the table and we followed Lara to her office. I placed my hand instinctively to my stomach, reassuring my baby that everything was going to be alright. “I have some bad news,” Lara told us straightaway as we all took our seats. “I hope you’ll be mentally strong enough to take it.” Helena pulled me closer to her before answering Lara, “Whatever it is, I’ll be there to help her through it. Tell us Lara.” Lara nodded before continuing. “There are several complications in your pregnancy. Firstly, it seems like you might have a water-electrolyte imbalance, which is why you’re having such severe morning sickness. Secondly, your modeling diet had made you lose weight and if this continues, then it’ll have a direct affect on your baby. You need to remember that you’ll be eating for not one but two people right now and your baby needs a fully balanced meal.” Lara took a deep breath before looking directly into my eyes. “And the biggest of all is that your baby seems to be lying in a Breech position, as compared to the normal head-first position. It means that instead of facing its head towards the vaginal opening, it has its feet in that direction.” “What does that mean?” I asked, confused with all the terms. But at the same time, I knew something was very, very wrong with it. “It means that if the baby still sticks to that position even after a month, we’ll have to perform a C-section on you…and it’ll leave a scar on your abdomen.” Lara told me, giving me a sympathetic look to soften the blow. I gave her a nod. “If you’re talking about the end of my modeling career, then that’s not an issue. It simply means I can’t wear anything other than a one-piece.” Lara seemed to visible relax at my words. “Good, models usually stress when they get any defects in their body. But if you don’t have any problem with scaring then the rest can be handled. I’m prescribing you iron tablets and tablets that will keep your electrolyte balance in check, all you need to do is dissolve them in water and keep drinking only that water for the next couple months. And I’m also setting up another appointment in two weeks to see if your condition has improved. But you must remember two things, absolutely no stress and plenty of rest.” After we got all the prescriptions from Lara and bought all medicines, Helena told me about a small talent hunt that was going on in a High school where Robert would be one of the guest judges. She asked if I was okay to go with her and I instantly agreed. I’d already taken all my medicines and had a bottle of the electrolyte water with me. Helena had also taken me to have lunch at a small restaurant and thanks to the medication I’d taken; I was already feeling a lot better. Robert greeted us as soon as we arrived at the High School but his smile turned into a concern frown as soon as Helena told her about what Lara had said. “Don’t worry,” he patted my head affectionately. “We’re here whenever you need us. Now why don’t you walk down the runway today?” “Robby!” Helena looked at her husband stunned. “How could you ask the poor girl to do that? She’s been sick since this morning!” “Honey, you know how much Elain loves the runway. Let her walk, it’ll help get her mind off things.” Robert said before turning to me. “Will you be okay?” “Of course!” I told him cheerfully. Robert was right, I loved walking down the runway and after the news I’ve heard from Lara, I needed to get my mind off the complications. Not my baby though, never my baby. Robert called in one of the school staff and he escorted me to the green room set for the students. “Show them how it’s done!” Were his parting words as he went in the opposite direction from me.   Knight’s P.O.V: I watched one of the school staff escort her to the green room. I blinked, once, twice; but when I could still see her face, I knew I wasn’t just hallucinating. She was here! Elaine Thunder was really here. After three months of constantly satisfying myself by watching her on my laptop screen, I felt my c**k jerk to attention at having her this close to me. Fuck! Why was I acting like a manwhore now of all times? I’m Knight Tyson; I don’t just lose control with a woman. And the fact that Elaine was able to do that even without a glance in my direction? It told me just how dangerous that woman was for me.  She spoke to the man who was escorting her with open joy, her green eyes sparkled as she spoke and then the man placed a hand to her shoulder, both of them laughing at something he’d said, before he left her at the door. I clenched my hands into fists. How dare some random man get to touch her! Elena was mine. I went to go after her but one of the school’s female staff stopped me in my tracks, asking questions about the dresses and makeup of the girls and about the walking order. I grit my teeth as I watched the green room door close after Elena. Fine, I thought to myself as I checked the walking order with the staff. I’ll let her have a few moments of peace before I disrupt it permanently. Have your fun Elaine, as long as it lasts.   Elena’s P.O.V: I’d changed into a short red jacket that had three-quarter sleeves and reached a couple inches under my breasts and I’d paired it with bright blue jeans and knee lengths boots that had the shortest heels. Robert had arranged the clothes for me and they were a perfect fit. I took a seat in one of the chairs before a full length mirror and picked up a curler to set my hair in some loose curls. My hair was naturally wavy so I didn’t have to work too hard on them. For makeup, I choose a more natural look with some dramatic red lipstick and eye shadows. I applied a thick coat of blue eye liner before finishing off with a dark red shadow. Pleased with my appearance, I put on some big silver hoops in my ear and a thick silver bracelet that doubled as a watch. “Elena.” I looked up from the vanity, startled to find anyone here at this hour. I’d made sure to unlock the door after I’d changed, since the other girls might need to change or touch up. Maybe it was Garry, the staff who’d accompanied me earlier? But when I turned to look at who’d called out to me, I felt my breath get caught in my throat. It was Knight Tyson. And now that he wore a formal grey suit with a steel blue shirt underneath, there was no denying that he’s the most handsome man I’d ever seen. His hair was combed back, a few strands escaping to fall on to his forehead and his blue eyes were locked onto my green ones, unflinching. As much as looking at him took my breath away, it also reminded me of what he’d done to me, the proof of which was now growing in my womb. My fantasies about Knight vanished in an instant as I thought of the baby and I stood up from the chair, knocking off the brush I’d had in my hand in the process. “What’re you doing here?” I spat at him. But all Knight did was shut the green room door and lock it behind him. My eyes widened as I saw him move towards me, a determination in his eyes that rubbed me the wrong way. “What do you want from me?!” I yelled frantically as I backed away from him. But the green room wasn’t all that big, having made to fit only five models, so Knight had me cornered in no time at all. And then he tugged me forward with a possessive hold on my nape and crashed his lips to mine.
