Chapter 3

DINO

Choi Mansion, Daegu South Korea

It's late at night, But I still can't forget the woman. I want to find her but how? I don't know her name. Why haven't I asked her name?

I still don't know what's with her that I'm being like this. She is beautiful, Yes. But there is something else about her that I want to know. Maybe when I get to know her more, my fascination with her will also end. I need to find a way to end this.

Henry and Joshua are at my house. Joshua, Playing Play station, Henry reading and I am drinking. I have a small space or man cave in the house. My Dad did this to prevent me from leaving the house all the time.

"Do you know anyone in Daegu high?" I asked Joshua and Henry.

"There is, Bro. Why?" Joshua asked as he continued to play. As Henry just looked at me and smiled shaking his head.

"Can you contact them now? I just want to ask something." I desperately insisted on Joshua.

"Is this still about the Girl that Mina told us about?" Henry asked.

Joshua looked at me and stopped his game. I don’t know how to explain to them about this crazy fascination with her. But it is what it is.

I sighed and continue my drink. "Yes. I really need to know her."

"Okay, I'll try to call them. Wait." Joshua answered while tapping his cellphone.

Henry sighs and pats me on the back "Dude, You know how Mina will feel about what you're doing." Henry warns.

I knew Mina would be hurt. She is my girlfriend but she knows how far our relationship is. And we are past this stage.

There was a time when Mina was jealous and we often fought. But since I talked to her about what my intentions are about us, our relationship has become good. Mina is a good person. But I knew our relationship had no destination.

"Bro, you know what Mina and I have." I defended myself from Henry.

"Hey, Bonsun? My friend wants to talk to you. He just wants to ask you a question." Lost in my mind, I heard that Joshua was talking.

Joshua handed me his phone. And I hurriedly picked it up.

"Hello, This is Dino Choi. I'll just want to ask if there's a new transferee at your School today? She's a girl." I asked desperately when I was talking on the phone.

The person I was talking to on the other line was thinking.

"Ahhh, wait. There is. She was a bit known at School earlier because she's beautiful." He answered me.

"What's her name?" I asked the person I was talking to.

"Monique Kim. Yes, that's right! She's Monique Kim from Jeju Island."

Monique, That was a beautiful name that suits her very well. When I heard her name I wanted to shout. Do I feel happy? I think I'm happy and I don't know why just because a simple f*****g name makes me happy.

If only Henry and Joshua could hear what was on my mind right now, I'm sure they would laugh at me and tease me for life.

But now, I can't think of anything but Monique.

"Is it okay? Can I get my phone now?" Joshua told me with a laugh.

Henry laughed as he looked at me.

I didn't answer the person I was talking to on the phone and I handed back to Joshua his phone.

I drink all the wine from my glass, And Henry was confused "Are you okay? Doesn't he know her?"

"No. He knows her." I answered.

"So, what's the problem? Why do you seem to be in trouble?" Henry asked thoughtfully.

"The problem is I don't know where to start from here." I told Henry what was really on my mind.

Henry sighs and continues to read and he answered me "Maybe you start fixing everything with Mina first. Then start with her. If you really like her."

"Bro, I didn't say I wanted her." I deny.

"Dude, you wouldn't be like that just for a name if you didn't like her. I haven't seen you like that with Mina." Said Henry.

"I'm going to sleep, just go home if you want." I have avoided the topic. And went up to my room.

MONIQUE

Convenience Store, Community Place

Daegu, South Korea

I left home early because Mom was drunk again and I was avoiding the fight especially now. The weather is beautiful again now here in Daegu, All the flowers are Pink and White. The breeze was also cold.

I decided to relax Outside the convenience store first. It became my favorite place to hang out because It was quiet and I became quiet close to their employee, Jun-su.

I didn't realize that I had fallen asleep, Maybe because I was tired. I chose to take a nap first because I still had an hour before class.

I didn't pick up Mina today because I thought I would meet Monique.

I never saw her outside their street. I used my motorbike to go around their entire neighborhood but she wasn’t there. I was going to go straight to school but I saw her ..

Sleeping outside the convenience store, While flowers are falling on her hair and on her face, She is sleeping so calmly.

I parked my motorbike on the side. And sat in the chair in front of her while watching her sleep.

I bought two instant ramen first, I'm sure she hasn't had breakfast yet. And me too, I didn't eat breakfast so I could catch up with her.

I sat down, while eating Ramen. Little by little she was waking up.

And when she looked up, she looked at me and wondered.

"Don't you know it's dangerous to sleep outside, especially you're a woman." I scolded her while eating my instant noodles.

Because she didn't know what could have happened to her if I hadn't seen her.

She bowed as if embarrassed. And look at the trees around us.

"Looks like there's no bad people around here." She answered me while smiling and looking around.

Sure. Maybe I'm the one she should avoid, because I also don't know where I'm going to take her and what my intentions are with her. Maybe I'm the one she should avoid.

I handed her another instant noodles I had bought. "Eat up. The class will start in 30 minutes."

She ate what I gave her, And said "I don't want to be indebted to anyone." She handed me a money and paid for the ramen I bought.

She is not like her Mom. I knew she was different.

I did not accept her money and I put it back in her bag, she was surprised by what I did and she did not know what to do.

"Just pay me tomorrow, you'll buy me my breakfast tomorrow." I told her. Maybe it's also my excuse to see her again.

She agreed and ate. "Do you like me?" I was surprised by her question and coughed at my food.

I didn't know what to answer and was confused but I didn't let her notice.

He just looked at me peacefully while I was in a mess.

"I already have a girlfriend." I answered her quickly.

I'm stupid, Why did I answer like that? I'm really stupid.

"Okay." She replied. Just One word she answered and continued her meal.

I drank some water and she asked again. "Was she your girlfriend? The Girl with you yesterday?"

"Yes." I ate to avoid the topic.

"She's beautiful and kind." She continues to eat.

"She is." My answer.

She stood up and held out her hand to me "Thank you for the food."

I shook her hand, And she walked away from me... again.

And here I am again, Watching her walk away under the sun, In the cold air., Who, until now, doesn't know what to say. Leaving me speechless once again.
