Chapter 2

The next few days were spent packing and shipping all my stuff to New York. We had finally reached and settled in, it took me a couple weeks to settle in and get comfortable with this new city.

So here I was 3 years later

My 27th birthday was in two days I had found a job as a secretary at the company that Bell worked at. It was my bosses 50th birthday today and we were all invited to his house for a party.

I was currently doing my hair and makeup.

"Lexi you know that there is going to be so many young business men there tonight. I heard that Jack Devon had invited his best friend and family to the party"

Jack was our boss he was amazing he was nice to everyone, on the other hand his best friend was David Colman he was a cold hard business man, and his son Hayden was apparently hot and a jack ass.

I slipped on my black dress, it was about to mid-thigh and had a gold top, Bell's dress was blue with silver bits on top. I grabbed my key's and we headed out, we called a taxi and it was a 10 minute drive to the hall.

The room was decorated with banners and balloon's and the smell of expensive alcohol filled the air. I spotted Jack and went over to him.

"Happy Birthday" I handed him the small gift and he smiled.

"Thank you Lexi, I would like the two of you too meet someone. Come I will introduce you" we followed him to the bar and three men were stood there in suit's.

"David these are the girl's I was talking to you about. Lexi is qualified for the job but currently is only working as a secretary at my company. She is capable of a lot more and Bell is also qualified for the job and will be a good personal assistant" we all shook hand's and the two boy's just stood there.

"Thank you Jack I knew I could count on you. Anyway ladies I would like to discuss some matters with you if you could follow me" we followed behind him and the two boys behind us.

We came to a private room and sat down, "Alright, I am handing my business down to my two sons, this is Hayden and Brody. They need personal assistants and Jack recommended you too. Hayden and Brody will both share responsibility of boss so I would like it of you two girls transferred to our company and joined my boy's" I looked to Bell and she was smiling I knew she wanted this job and it would be alright I guess.

"Lexi, what do you think" Bell asked me. I nodded and she squealed.

"Is that a yes" we both nodded and thanked David.

"Alright boys pick your girl"

"Lexi" "Bell" Hayden said my name and at the same time Brody said Bell's.

"Wow this is going better than I planned they've already made an agreement. Well that's enough business for tonight so let's get back to the party. On Monday come to my office and I will give you the contract's" he smiled and got up.

Bell and Brody's started talking and Hayden just looked at me

"You look beautiful" he complemented me. I smiled and thanked him. He led me out of the room, his hand on the small of my back and I felt warm.

No, this can't happen. I pushed his arm away and excused myself. I went to the bathroom and took a deep breath. Bell came in; "Are you alright" I nodded. "You know you need to find someone, it's been three years. This might just be your chance" she pulled me out of the bathroom and we got ourselves drink's. It was getting late and the real party started, the club music started and Bell pulled me to the floor to dance. I started swaying my hips and moving to the beat I twirled around and bumped into Hayden. He put his hands on my waist and we swayed to the beat.

"Don't you think this is a little unprofessional" I took his hands off my waist and sat back down. Bell was dancing with Brody and I knew she liked him, she smiled when he touched her. Hayden came and sat with me and I was busy looking at my phone. After he left me at the alter I hadn't once gotten a text or call from him or I didn't see him for the month I was at home. I haven't been back to see my parents but they came to see me. It's like he fell off the face of the earth, I just wanted to know why. I hadn't let anyone get close to me, any guy I pushed away but I couldn't brush Hayden off. He lingered around me till Bell was ready to go.

"Hey I'm going to Brody's house, for the small after party he's having with some of his mates. Come on it will be fun" Bell begged.

"Bell, I'm going home I will see you there I'm not feeling well" she huffed and agreed.

"Hey I will drop you off home" Hayden's voice filled my ears

"No it's alright I will call a taxi" I protested, I grabbed my coat and he practically dragged me to his car.

"Tell me where you live" I told him and he started driving. I put my head on the cool glass window and it was silent all the way home. He pulled up and I got out.

"Thanks for the ride" I gave me a small smile and stepped out the car.

"It's alright; you're going to be my PA soon so you will be coming with me a lot. Have a nice night I will see you on Monday" I waved and he waited till got in the house before driving off. I checked my purse for my phone and it wasn't there. The doorbell rang and I answered it.
