Chapter Three

1511 Words
Elysia I could feel my mind start to weaken from his presence. Many Angels were either trying to get out of the hall to escape his overpowering presence or they were passing out in their seats. It was a wonder I was still able to remain on my feet because even Simon beside me, was bent over holding on to his chest as he struggled to remain on his feet. But I couldn't tear my eyes away from him. He was nothing like I had imagined from the many stories I had been fed as a child. He had an ageless sort of beauty, with a powerful aura and dominance that made it hard for one to stare at him for too long. His hair was jet black, long and wavy and it framed his rigidly handsome face. He had defined cheekbones that sharperned his look and a stong jaw that looked like they could cut through anything. And his eyes? His eyes were cold, dark and ruthless and they held a certain glint that let you know that he knew something you didn’t. His eyes were so dark that I could feel a slither run up my spine from the two seconds I spent staring into it. Hades was so attractive, it was hard to think that a man that was responsible for so much c*****e, ruthlessness and evil could possess the sort of beauty that made me weak in the knees. And what was worse? I didn't just think he looked attractive, I felt attracted to him. The thought made me feel embarrased and I berated myself for it. I was an Angel for Paradise sake, I was supposed to be repulsed by him and his presence not wanting to run into his arms and bury my face in his dark cloak. “Hades, what are you doing here?” My father called as he pushed past me to approach the man dressed in black. “Micheal, always a pleasure to see you. Please don’t stop your feast on my behalf. I’m only here for my Fated, you can go on with the celebrations. We’ll be leaving now.” He said and as he spoke I was suddenly lifted into the air and a force gradually pulled me closer to him. Once I was close enough, he held onto my arms, his dark eyes shining with an unknown emotion as he hummed in what seemed like satisfaction. I struggled against him but it didn’t seem to have any effect on the man. “Hades, unhand my daughter right now! Guards!” My father's usually calm voice bellowed angrily through the hall but that didn’t seem to faze the demon Lord. Angels surrounded Hades casting out their swords of light and preventing the Demon Lord from taking another step. The sight was impressive and if I wasn’t on their side I would have been intimidated by the soldiers that stood protectively in a circle but not Hades. The man had a smirk playing at the edge of his lips, almost like he knew something the rest of us didn’t. I could feel the power emanating from him and for a second I began to doubt my father’s soldiers. Would they be strong enough to save me from him? If it came to it, would they be able to take him down? Every being knew who Hades was. He was a vicious, ruthless, and powerful man and at the mention of his name Alone, even the bravest souls trembled with fear. Every parent told their kids scary stories about the monster currently holding me in his arms and although I did feel fear at being this close to him, it felt like it wasn’t enough. Something about being this close to him itched at the back of my mind, like a forgotten memory just waiting to break through. Like I had been in this position before and I searched through my mind trying to remember it. But in that moment, a voice, cold and calculating, cut through the tension. “Oh, she’s yours? Then that makes this even easier Micheal don’t you think? What has it been? Eighteen years since our deal? I think that I’ve been very kind-hearted letting you go all these years without cashing in that favor, at this point one could even say I’ve been an Angel. This doesn’t have to end in bloodshed, I’m not doing anything wrong right now. You made a deal with me, I save your lover and you owe me one favor I could cash in at any time. I think the time has come Lord of Angels.” Hades said and I furrowed my brows in confusion. My father made a deal with the devil? “She died eventually Hades.” My father spat out in pain and I wondered what they were talking about. “Oh, but that was no fault of mine. I don’t have the power to give back life but what I have, I gave to you. An opportunity to go back in time. It’s not my fault you made the same mistake twice. I’m not here to exchange words with you Micheal. Your kingdom is way too bright and boring for my comfort and I’d rather be in my dark room. So if you don’t mind we’ll be on our way now.” Hades said and made to walk away but my father rushed in front of us. “Please Hades. I have five other daughters and you can choose from any of them. Just not her, please I beg you.” My father pleaded with tears in his eyes and I heard Fiona scream out in disagreement as her daughters gathered into her protective arms. I felt pity for my father, this was the hardest position for anyone to be in and I tried to struggle against the monster that had me trapped but once again it was futile. “That’s a very kind offer, Micheal, also beautiful daughters you have, I’m very impressed, but my mind is set on this one right here.” Hades said and as he tried to move a soldier blocked his path raising his sword to strike and I closed my eyes, not wanting to witness the scene. I didn’t know what I was expecting but I’m the next second, a burst of power was passing through me and the next time I opened my eyes four soldiers were lying dead on the floor. While the rest back off from him. “Like I said Micheal, this doesn’t have to end terribly. Let me go with her and I will never step a foot into your kingdom ever again. Hades said and he began moving towards the door, causing panic to flood my veins. I couldn’t go anywhere with this man. He would kill me soon enough and the thought had me screaming at the top of my lungs as I struggled even harder to get out of his arms. He must have had enough of my struggles because he held me tighter, hoisting me with a hand before throwing me over his shoulder and putting a protective arm over my frame. It was almost impossible to move in this position and it made my panic even worse. Especially when I raised my head to see my father just standing in place watching him take me away with tears streaming down his eyes and a look of helplessness on his face. “Father! Help me. Don’t let him take me away, please I beg you. Simon! Simon, please help me.” I screamed, tears falling down my eyes as I continued to struggle. Suddenly, I was dropped from the shoulder and although I landed on the floor with a heavy thud I didn’t mind, I was more than happy to be let go of him. I pulled myself quickly to my feet and that was when I realized that Simon had appeared from nowhere and had thrust a sword into the back of an unknowing Hades. I began running towards my brother but the worst happened. It was so fast that it took my mind several seconds to process it. Hades moved with the speed of light and with a movement of his hand, Simon was choking on his saliva and in less than a second my brother’s lifeless body was laying on the floor. I stared, wide-eyed at the scene before me. Too stunned to even let out the scream that was bubbling inside me. “I warned you all,” Hades said, pulling me back into his arms before flinging me over his shoulders once more and moving out of the room while I watched my brother’s lifeless form upside down. Hades had just killed my brother, I never even got to ask him the question that had been on my mind all night. What did I do with the Elixir of Life that had been gifted to me and what would happen if I lost it?
