Chapter Seven: Boris's Lonely Tale "Boris Hawk had been in the darkness ever since the day he was revived as an undead. At first, only fragmented and hazy memories came to him. Later, even hazier. Even though hazy, he instinctively knew that this was 'him' in his past life. Over the years, only these hazy-like memories kept his sanity away from a typical undead." "Boris learns to think logically and slowly rationalize his current situation. However, one day during one of the darkest moments of the year. He finally confirms his suspicions and truly understands how he came to be. The ten sets of bones before him had already been gathering dust and had suddenly woken up. It was then that he came into enlightenment." "One interesting day finally happened. One of the bones finally approaches Boris and kneels in front of him. He thought that only a 'person' could do such a thing. However, his soul core flickered for a moment and he saw some. A new memory fragment." "The memory was in a sudden rush. The scene was of a young man at the age of eighteen. Boris was also in the same place and the young man was at the same spot where the bones were kneeling. He instinctively knew that the young man was the set of bones right before him. It was then that he realized why his bony hands moved, why he could tell that the bones were the young man's, and why he was chained up in his seat." "Boris felt lost in his dreams. He remembered a man in dark robes filled with many ordinary accessories. The man called himself a necromancer and was 'gathering' troops for an upcoming battle. He had seen it all, all the dead soldiers were surely 'getting up again as if they were alive. The necromancer called them 'cannon fodders.'" "There were two varieties, one type that has rotten flesh and one, without which Boris is the one that he is seeing right now. So he knew that they were the bones walking before him. Even though he knew what he was now, he curiously made his observation of the ten bones walking in uniform before him, with interest. Unknowingly, many years had passed and he could see the dark particles slowly gathering around the ten of them." "Boris saw yet another miracle again. One by one, the bones slowly changed. Their bones look whiter than before and their movements became more systematic as if they were in a formation. They also handle their spears with practical ease. However, in his observing vision, he knew that they were still many leagues away from a proper 'person.' He saw that a proper 'person' moved much easier than the ten clumsy bones in front of him." "Many years later, the top wall could not resist the time of decay and some parts had already cracked and some had unknowingly shed some lights into the room of darkness. Boris, for the first time and instance, finally knew what light was like. His curiosity had sparked again and he continued to observe the light coming through the crumbled top." "In total, Boris had counted a total of 24,332 times that the light had been shown before him and disappeared. Finally, the light of 24,333 was the last light that he had seen before leaving this room of darkness." - - - Even with the addition of a family member, he did not rashly try to break the chains. He calmly went through the six chests: One chest was filled to the brim with gold coins (1,000g), One was filled with unusable weaponry, One chest contains a variety of soul cores which is not of the skeleton category (soul cores x100), One chest contains a huge amount of jewelry (Total worth: 10,000g), One chest contains a mysterious key that only has one uses left, And finally, one chest contains just one golden artifact that seems to have lost all of its powers (Hawk Amulet). He had already looted the chests, so he, unhurried, walked to the throne. He was not there to release Boris yet, because he knew that there was something hidden underneath the throne, and the way to get it was by digging it out. It was extricated and well hidden by others, but he had been there before and had already played the scenario. He knew that it would take at least thirty minutes before he could dig up the hidden item. Forty-five minutes later, he finally digs out the hidden item. The item was another emblem of change. However, this emblem of change automatically gives an auxiliary class to a player when used. Throughout the game, only when the players' database reaches an average level of five hundred do people discover a new type of class and it was the auxiliary class. It was a huge sensation at that time. Just having an auxiliary class can bridge the gap between the average and elite players. He was glad that he had gotten it when the game was just starting and that the risk was worth the price. Now, even if he did purposely slow down his leveling progress. He would be as comparable as an elite player. However, his goal this time is not fame, fortune, key components, or a fight for the ranking ladder. All he wanted so badly was just his family, wife, and daughter. It's time he used the mysterious key to unlock all the chains that are sealing Boris. With a few cranks, each piece of the links broke in half. It was not until thirty seconds later did the final link sealing Boris break apart. Like a baby bird, he tried to stand up, but with such clumsy movement. It was expected he would fall back on the throne. After multiple tries did Boris finally recognize the rigidness of his bones was the problem, to begin with. By the fifth mark of a minute, Boris finally manages to walk. Though he was a bit awkward, he could keep up with him. As a matter of exploring the entire fort, he was not interested at all, since the things that he was coming for were already taken by him. Why should he waste his time on a beginning fort that is covered in bone monsters that only drop bones and low-quality soul cores when he has gotten enough materials that will last him until level forty? So, he unhesitantly made his way through the secret passage and made his way back to the west wing of the fort. Boris had an easy time walking through the secret passage with the passage walls as support. Thus, end chapter seven.
