Angel made us wait while Axel climbed up. I wasn’t pleased about this idea but I crossed my hands over my chest and waited. Axel bounced out of the pit like he was some alien rabbit. I shuddered at his display even as I sensed Hazel was impressed. “You can go now,” I commanded him.
Axel wiped an arm across his sweaty brow. His hair was in disarray and his eyes were dark, darker than usual and twitching. “I’m not leaving you guys until you’re back in the mansion, safe and sound. It’s my job.”
“No, it’s your job to protect Hazel, I can take care of myself. Take the night off or something, surely there’s some female wolf you have your eye on. Just leave me and Angel alone, we’re going on a date.”
“Ivy,” Angel started to interrupt but I ignored him.
My eyes were locked on Axel and I tilted
