I stared at Axel’s back as we traveled his words echoing through my head. Why in the world would he say that? I thought I knew the answer, but that didn’t make sense. We weren’t mates, so why did it seem he liked me? I hadn’t done anything to cause it, and again, he wasn’t my mate.
