CHAPTER 12 +

Chapter twelve

With rise of the midnight sun started the ball. Vampires from every shadow would attend. I remember my first. I remember all the lavish decor and endless supply of our liquid life, our sustenance.

I had wore a forest green ball gown with sapphire aplicay. I applied a dark red lipstick and pulled my hair back. I slipped on a pair of shoes and left to see to Andrea.

I put a bit out clear lip gloss for her. I don't want her using makeup until she is out enough. I added a protective necklace for her and her shoes.



We walked down the stairs to see River fidgeting with his suit. He looked up and he gawked. His mouth agape as he stared.

"You lo.. look amazing." He stuttered.

"Daddy!" Andrea exclaimed twirling in her dress.

"You look like a princess." He picked her up.

He came to me and placed a kiss on my lips. "You look beautiful." He said.

He took my hand and led me to the car waiting outside.

We arrived along with other humans and vampires. Everyone was dancing and talking. (Except it was brighter. More modern.)

We arrived and they announced it. Everyone turned to look at us. We were standing on top of the stairs.

"I'd like to thank everyone for coming today. It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to my beloved River Fyers and our daughter Andrea Fyers. I expect you to respect them as you respect me. Please enjoy." I ended it took Rivers hand.

Lisa and Emily came and took Andrea. They were absolutely in love with the little girl.

River and I were dancing. So were everyone else. Everyone danced in sync. River was quite the dancer who stepped on my foot a couple times but I didn't mind it. He kept apologizing.

We needed a break from dancing... Meaning he needed a break. Human tend to tire. People came up and congratulated us on finding each other.

Lisa came and tapped my shoulder and whispered in my ear.

"She's here, in the garden and she seems upset." Lisa said.

I looked at her. They worry evident on my face.

"I'll be back." I kissed his cheek and walked to the garden.



She sat on the bench near the fountain. I made my way next to her.

Chapter thirteen

...

"Alice." I called as I searched the gardens.

"Mom." I turned at the new voice, there she sat. Innocent and beautiful. Her heart shaped face showed happiness as I swiftly went to her. My darling little girl who wasn't so little any more. My little Patatina.

I remember when I had first laid eyes on her and her two week old face, Her mother was a good friend of mine. We were very close. The moment she found out she was pregnant she was ecstatic but Johnathan her husband ran. He didn't want her or the child.

He had left. She was heartbroken and I immediately took her in but she died after child birth. She made me promise to take care of her baby like my own daughter and I agreed. It was too late for me to turn her into a vampire. I had tried many times but it was to late and she had been claimed by death and was on her way to Elysium.

I fell in love with the beautiful child. She, with her big blue eyes and rosy cheeks had captured me and held me hostage. I was instantly attached. I brought her up and paid attention to every detail. I lavished my affection on her. Her mother knew me, she knew I would love her more than the waking world.

But she grew up like all children did and wanted to experience life for her self and I agreed of course no matter how much I just wanted to horde away. Then I started paying more attention to the coven, me being the Leader. She started to lash out. I had to be very careful with her.

I sent her away to Japan for her to explore bit when she came back she still showed signs. Then she found her love.

She loved him so much but the was more to her affection.

"What's wrong Cara?" I asked. I took her hands in mine and offered her my cheek to which she rubbed hers against my own.

"You found your beloved, you'll forget about me." Tears pooled like an oasis in a drought.

"No... of course not. I love you. You are my daughter. Don't think like that I'll never forget you." I quickly reassured her before her envy sent her on a rampage.

"You promise." Her eyes wide as she sniffles.

"Of course. I love you Cara. Do you doubt me Cara?" I asked her.

"Never." She said with confidence.

"Then never think that way again." I softly ordered.

"Okay mama." I kissed her forehead and took her hands and walked to which we returned to the ball.

..River Fyers..

I spoke to Lisa and Emily's beloved Austin and Alex.

They were cool guys. This was all so new and different. Balls and events like these were something I never imagined. When I meet Rose, I knew everything was going to change... and how right was I...

I was away from all my worries and demons, an abusive father, bullying... Rose was my god sent, my Angel. I don't know what I'd do without her and yet I'd know her for only a short while. I never thought I would be so in love with someone so fast. Today Andrea called me dad.

I was happy but when she called Rose mom, I was ecstatic. It made me think about our future.

I saw her making her way towards us with a girl about twenty may be twenty one.

Rose looked at me and smiled. When they reached me Rose kissed me and I wrapped an arm around her.

"Alice this is my beloved River." She turned to me. "River this is my daughter Alice." I nearly choked but smiled at her instead and she had returned a forced one. Andrea came to Rose and pulled her away to see something.

When Rose was gone Alice scowled at me.

"I know what you're doing." I frowned. I was so confused.

"You won't succeed. I'll expose you for what you are. A rogue." A what?

She stomped away. I was so confused right now so.....

.. Alice Adams..

I had to expose him. He was trying to steal her away from me. She was mine. Rose was more than a mother to me and no matter what I have to do she will belong to me.

When I got got word of a beloved, I knew...I knew that it was going to be a problem. I had to tie loose ends and I wasn't going to stop until I was sure that she was safely back into my palms.

I wasn't going to let that bastard take her from me. She was mine. And with that howls filled the air. My plan was slowly unraveling.

Chapter fourteen

..Rose Gold..

Howls filled the air. Everyone stopped and froze. My eyes widened at the familiar sound.

"Werewolves!!!" Someone screamed. All the vampires sprout their fangs and hissed. My very own elongated into a menacing sharp daggers.

I walked to the front line and started giving orders.

"Get the humans to safety. Get the blood bags and feed as much as possible. Get ready everyone." I commanded and I walked to the weapons room with everyone.

I noticed River and Andrea following in my wake.

"Go with Lisa and Emily, stay safe and stay were you are if you need anything scream my name." I placed my lips on his in a sweet yet quick kiss. He looked at me worriedly. Lisa and Emily took him and Andrea.

I got to the weapons room and changed.

I slipped daggers into any place available... in my long black coat, in my boots, in my sleeves. I had to be prepared.

Everyone was busy getting ready and was generally excited. Vampires like nothing more than a good fight but not when their beloveds are involved. That seemed to make them tense.

I was a bit calmer knowing River and Andrea were safe. Austin and Alex were at my side.

"Get the silver." I ordered.

About a hundred plus vampires were here and that means they were outnumbered. All the humans were in the safe room. We were all still getting ready when werewolves burst through the door.

The vampires got silver bullets and knives and started to kill the wolves. The wolves were going down fast. Too fast.

A wolf lunged at me. I pull out a dagger threw it at him. I lunged into action using the dagger and slicing through flesh.

But as much as they were coming to an end, there was more to it, there always is...

It was too easy. I heard crashing and screaming. It was coming from the safe room. We hurried to them. I saw Lisa and Emily fighting some wolves. I quickly ripped it's heart out. The other vampires joined.

There was a message written in blood.

BEWARE THE WAR HAS JUST BEGAN

My eyes turned red and my fangs came out. A few light bulbs exploded. My anger was getting the better of me. It consumed me like a curtain of red velvet drew my rage in.

"Get River!" I gritted through my teeth. He was the only one who could calm me down. Lisa and Emily were completely fine but went to get checked out since they were pregnant.

River came to me and took me in his arms. He pulled back to inspect any injuries. He sighed when he found nothing.

"Mommy!" Andrea ran to me with a smile. She had no idea what was happening... good...She deserved to be left with innocence. She was only a child.

"Hey sweetheart." I cooed and hugged her close to my chest and I then turned to my second in command Austin.

"Call the other ancients and all the vampires of my line. If war is what they want. War is what they shall get. Let's eradicate the disease of mutts." Everyone cheered and let out battle cries.

I had to change. I was cover in blood from the fighting. I handed Andrea who was asleep to River and went to change.

"Give me the report." I told Alex.

"Ten vampires injured but no casualties." He said.

"That's good. We need to plan an attack and start the training." I told Alex. I woke up and found River waiting for me with a sleeping Andrea.

We got home and River and I put Andrea to sleep.

"You should get some sleep. I'll be there just now." I said turning around. He caught my wrist and tugged me closer.

"I don't think that's a good idea. You need to get some rest."

"May I remind you my love. I'm an ancient vampire. The strongest and one of oldest in the world. I don't need sleep. I just use that time to mess with peoples minds."

"Mess with them ho...wait a second. Were you in my dreams the other day." His accused.

"I don't what your talking about." I lied.

"I'll get you back."

"And how will you do that?" I folded my arms and raised an eyebrow.

"I'll find a way." He grinned.

"Go to bed. I'll be here in a minute." I told him.

He finally listened to me. I walked to my office and phone the vampires I knew.

The thing about vampires is that everyone meaning vampires protect ancients. Because if an ancient died so does all the vampires in their sire line. Meaning the vampires they turned.

And since I did indeed turn a lot of them they are more than willing to protect me.

I stayed in my office the entire night that night.

It's been a week since the attack. Every single day I've been dealing with with everything which included training, hunting and planning. Which also means I've only seen River and Andrea a few time. It's been killing me all week.

I was pale, I mean I don't look my best. I haven't feed in a week and I'm hungry. I sat back and stared at my ceiling.

There was a soft knock at the door. "Come in." I said. The door opened to reveal Andrea peeping through it then walked in.

"Mom."

"Yes sweetheart." I woke up from my chair and went to her. I picked her and she clung to me and nestled her face in my neck.

"Are you mad at me momma." She asked.

"No sweetie." I swayed her in my arms and patted her head.

"Are you mad at dad?"

"No of course not honey. I've just been busy that's all sweetheart." I kissed her forehead.

"Come on let's get some food in you." She giggled.

We were in the kitchen and I put her on a chair with a couple of cushions in. River came in.

"Daddy!" Andrea exclaimed.

"Hey princess." He kissed her temples. He looked at me and his expression filled with worry. He came to me and cupped my neck and looked at me.

He was about to say something when Austin and Alex came in.

"Master." They bowed their Head in submission. They gave me letter. I looked at River apologetically.

I walked into my office and opened the letter. It was from ancient Nolan. He was second most powerful vampire. He was hosting a ball for the upcoming war to get it out.

I decided that I was going to spend time with River and Andrea. Since summer summer break was coming up in exactly three days I would take them with me. I set everything up. Austin was going to be in charge for the time being. I needed time with my family. I felt like my hunger for war was keeping me from smelling the roses and as much as I do in fact love killing werewolves, that was no excuse...

It was 09:00, River was probably asleep by now. I walked into our room and saw him asleep. I changed and then realization that he wasn't really asleep.

I crawled into bed and went next to him.

"River."

"Hmm."

"I'm sorry." He turned around to face me.

"Why are you sorry?" He placed his one arm over my waist.

"I've been so busy this week I haven't had time for you or Andrea. I'm a shitty girlfriend and beloved." I whispered to him as I was disappointed in myself.

"No no your an amazing girlfriend and beloved. Yes I've missed you but I understand."

"No your not supposed to have to understand. Your my priority."

"No love. Your mine. I'm suppose to be the one trying to make easier for you and I haven't." He sighed.

"I'm going to make it up to you though."

"You don't have to do anything love." He disagreed.

"No for you and Andrea. I mean Andrea thought I was mad at you and her." I frowned.

"Andrea loves you and I'm sure she just wanted to spend time with you. She spent her whole life not having a mother and now she has one. She just wants to spend time."

"Exactly. So for two weeks we are going away for summer break." I told him.

"Where?"

"Well we have to attend a ball in. Drum roll please..." He chuckled.

"... Paris." I smiled.

"Woah. I've never been."

"We leave in three days." He grinned.

"Oh and one more thing. I won't work the entire time so I'm going to concentrate on you and Andrea. A family vacation." He smiled.

"Are you sure? In the midst of war..." He asked.

"I'm sure, we have the werewolves backed into a corner."

( WARNING.Steamy part ahead.)

"Okay." He paced his lips on mine.

It was slow and gentle at first then turned heated and steamy. River turned us so he was hovering over me. He pushed his arousal on me and I couldn't suppress a moan from leaving my lips.

I hooked my legs around his hips and grinded against him and his core. I moaned in his mouth. His one hand pull my one leg high and he rubbed himself on me. He groaned as he consumed my lips.

He started to trail wet kisses on my neck, nibbling and biting. I moaned and he found my sweet spot and sucked on it.

"River." I moaned.

The door opened.

"Mom, dad." Thank God the lights were off. But why!

Always getting interrupted.

Damnation.

River got off me fast and I switched the light on.

"Yes honey." I was breathing heavily so was River. He took and pillow and put over his lap.

"I can't sleep momma."

"Come here sweetie." She came and laid next to me and snuggled into me.

"I need a cold shower." River mumbled and left to the bathroom. I muffled a laugh.

I woke up next to River and Andrea. It was a mission to get out of Andrea's grip. For a little girl she had a tight grip.

I went in the bathroom and gasped. On my neck a red mark claiming me. Why wasn't I healing?



Chapter fifteen

A haunting, savage light beamed through dark curtains that awoke me with a pain and sizzle against my skin.

My eyes opened at the painful sensation and I quickly moved into the shadowy darkness and gasped in relief. I had taken my ring out last night and fell into sweet slumber completely ignorant.

"Rose..." River awoke from his sleep.

"What's going on..." He asked as he noticed me flush against the wall hiding in the shadows.

"River get my ring!" I hissed as my flesh once again started to sizzle, a burning sensation took over with a consuming pain. He went into action and retrieved it from the bed side and ran to me, with fumbling hands he slid the ring into my finger.

I sighed in relief as the pain floated away like a cloud of horror.

He sighed and hugged me then drew the curtains and shielded my body with his.

We sat there in the corner of the room, his hands gently stroking and caressing my hair.

"Andrea was playing and must have moved the curtains." He murmured, which would make sense since River was very careful when it came to things like that. He was always the on to make sure the curtains were practical light proof and that the only thing that brought light in was a switch.

"It's okay." I reassured him as I knew he would be even more paranoid and careful.

"No its not, you almost died!" He hissed in anger.

"Andrea from now on won't be allowed in our room." He declared.

"Aren't you being a bit drastic. She's only but a child." I reasoned.

"End of discussion, will you come to school today." He changed the subject.

"No, I have to take care of some stuff." I lied.

"You're lying, you're so coming." He said practically daring me to go against him. This morning must have really pushed him.

"Fine." I huffed and gave in. I couldn't say no to him especially with him being so on edge.

Getting ready for school wasn't something I looked forward to. I slipped on a blue high waisted jeans accompanied with a baggy Black sweater and black heeled boots. I put a fossil watch and left my hair to its natural self.

Lucy came and took Andrea to school which left River and I. River drove us to school which was almost routine as I would watch from the drive way.

The song written in the stars by the girl and the dream catcher came on and I couldn't help but to sing along.

"I wonder if people will remember me." I said thinking out loud.

"It's working." He grinned and placed his hand on my thigh and rubbed circles.

"Just try to stay the day." He said to me.

"I'll try but I make no promises." I said playfully. He rolled his eyes and continued.

Chapter sixteen

We arrived in the school after the long drive. River was more confident than before.

"You are very at ease and you're more confident." I observed.

"I am but only with you." He grinned.

"I feel so special." I laughed.

"I love that sound." He pecked my lips and got out then opened my door for me.

People saw us and started to whisper. They all looked at me in disbelief and then looked back at River. The janitor will have a lot of jaws to scrape off the floor.

"Guys are staring at you and I don't like it. Maybe you should have stayed at home." River grumbled.

"River you sound like an over possessive werewolf." I deadpanned again. I raised an eyebrow at him.

"A werewolf. Really?" He grimaced.

"Yeah. I'm yours. Two days and we blow this joint." I reassured him.

I pecked his lips and pulled back but he wasn't having any of that. He grabbed my waist and pull me closer and consumed my lips. The bell rang and people scrambled.

I walked away from him and swayed my hips.

"You tease." He said.

I heard their whispers which weren't exactly whispers.

'Is that River the nerd and that hot chick Rose.'

'Woah how did he manage to get that?'

'You think he's paying her? Or do you think the broke her glasses.'

All these whispers were giving me a head ache even if they were whispering. My eye twitched with irritation.

In class River held my hand with one hand and took notes with the other while I was busy playing flappy bird. Then my phone rang.

"Hello."

"Master."

"Yes Leah." Leah was Andrea's secret guard.

"There's a man claiming to be Andrea's father and will not leave." It must be their abusive dumbass father. When I get ahold of him s**t gonna go down.

I stood up abruptly. River looked at me questionably.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"Nothing love. I have to go do something real quick." I lied not really wanting him to worry.

I kissed him and took Austin's car keys and raced to Andrea's school.

I arrived and saw Leah talking, okay more like arguing with a man. I instantly recognized him. The similarities between River and him were uncanny.

I walked with pride, with my head held high. You must never show you enemy sign of weakness.

"Miss Gold." Leah sighed in relief.

Andrea walked out of her class and saw me. She instantly ran into my awaiting arms and squealed "mommy!".

"What is the meaning of This. Why is my daughter calling you her mother." He growled. He stepped closer to us.

"This is a school. If you could keep your voice down would be much appreciated." I composed myself and brought Andrea closer and held her tighter.

"I don't care. I Want f*****g Answers!"

"What do you want?" I asked so calmly I scared myself.

"I want my daughter." He was about to grabbed her from my arms. I move away.

"Well to damn bad." I finally let a menacing growl out. He stepped back.

"I adopted Andrea and have legal rights to my daughter so you can't do shit." I calmed myself.

"You have abused both your son and daughter and you are damn lucky I didn't end you already." I said.

"Are you trying to threaten me." He scowled.

"No. Of course not. It's not a threat, it's a promise." His glare was strong. If only looks could kill but It can't so he should really stop looking at me like that before I rip out his eye balls and use them as earnings.

"I want my daughter." He tried to take her again. She saw him and clung to me tighter. I cradled her to my chest swaying her in my arms.

She had started to whimper and I heard her muffled cries. It broke my heart and I wanted nothing more than to see her contagious smile.

I kissed her temples and then used compulsion on the vile man in front of me.

"Leave and never come back. You will not try and take Andrea or river and will let them live in peace." I completed.

He looked in my eyes and turned around and left.

"Shhhh. Shhhh it's okay." I reassured her.

"Let's get some ice cream." I smiled and kissed her forehead.

We arrived at milky lane but Andrea remained quite. She was wasn't her normal self but with what just happened I really didn't expect her to be 100% okay.

"What's wrong Honey." I crouched in front of her.

"Am I going back to him?" She asked quietly. Tears welled up in her eyes.

"No honey. Your staying with River and I. I won't let him take you." I hugged her.

We were back home. Andrea and I were in the music room. I was playing the violin while she fell asleep. I don't now why but I this bad getting like bile that something was going happen here. I think it would be best to leave tomorrow.

I picked Andrea and went her room and tucked her in bed. I stars to pack her bags but is it really a good idea to leave tomorrow? We'll just have to see.

..River Fires..

Rose was gone to do something. I was sad without her. I missed her even though I saw her an hour ago.

I walked to my locker and saw a few jocks walking towards me.

"Yo River. How you doing man?" One of them asked. This was strange.

"Good." I answered cautiously. Austin and Alex appeared behind me.

"So Rose man? How did you get that." Of course that's why they are here. I am so glad we're leaving in two days. I cant wait to leave this hell hole with my Rose and Andrea.

I looked at Austin and Alex and they rolled their eyes.

"I have to go." I closed my locker and walked to the parking lot and drove home.

I saw Austin's car in the drive way. Rose must of taken his car.

I went inside and heard sound coming from Andrea's room. I went there and saw Rose packing in vampire speed.

"Honey?" I called to Rose. Andrea was sound asleep. She looked up and I saw something wasn't right.

"What's wrong?" I asked her.

"Why don't you go start packing. I'll be there in a minute." She said. I kissed her forehead and went to pack. If she was ready to tell me then she would. I'm not one of those guys who have insecurities about their relationships. I trust her. I started to pack up anything that I would need.

"River?" Rose called out to me.

"Here." I answered. She walked into the closest and sat in the chair in he middle of the room.

"What's wrong." I asked her. I set the clothes on the table and walked to her.

"We're leaving tomorrow." She sighed.

"I thought we leave in two days?" I asked.

"We were but I think it's better if we leave tomorrow. School won't be doing anything. I already checked." She said. I picked her up and set her on my lap. I kissed her neck.

"There's something Your not telling me." I said.

"Someone showed up at Andrea's school. Your father." I tensed and held her tighter.

"What happened?" I asked.

" He tried to take Andrea." She answered.

She leaned against me.

"I got there in time. It would have been worse but it wasn't. Andrea was just a little shaken up." Rage filled me. Rose kissed my cheek and that calmed me down.

"He didn't touch her." She reassured me.

"If her touched Andrea or you I don't know what I would've done." I said.

"Don't think about that." She kissed me and I held her in place so she wouldn't pull back. Our lips moved in sync.

"River go pack." She giggled.

"And what will you do?" I asked.

"The same." She answered and started to pack as well. She started to sing.

It killed me to see Rose with them. My Rose. She was mine. I wasn't going to let her go.

"You bloody idiot." I smacked him across his face.

"You bitch." He spat.

"Watch it mutt. I will not hesitate to cut you tongue out." I growled.

"They are leaving in two days. My plans need to be set in motion now." I back handed him. He few to the wall.

"But because of you we are set back."

You can't rely on anyone these days. Well except for her. My Rose. Mine. I guess if you want something done right you have to do it yourself.

I will have her. Even if I have to end everyone. I will do it.

Chapter seventeen

I awoke to another clear morning. I reached to River only to find the sheets empty and cold. How did I not notice him awaken?

"I feel so left out." I said playfully announcing my presence. River turned around and blushed. He was packing Andrea's toys, something I had forgotten to do.

"Why don't you sing more often?" I asked him as he then blushed harder.

"I...Um...Who's hungry?" His blush a bright red as if being upside down for to long.

I walk into the kitchen and check out a blood bag. River just happened to walk in at the same time. What are the odds... My devil purred.

"Rose told you if you were hungry just tell me." He placed luggage down.

"I don't like feeding from you. What if I lose control." I said with concern, there was a very big chance that I could. His blood was different, sweeter... The most exquisite I had ever tasted. I remember and relished in each drop and that was dangerous because I found it very hard to stop.

I relish in the warm blood filling my mouth.

River groaned and I let go of his neck. Blood Dripped from my mouth and my fangs were still out. River looked at me and he consumed my lips in one Swift movement.

He nibble on my lower lip tasting his blood on my lips and I moaned in his mouth. My hand traveled downwards as I palmed him through his pants.

"Mum, Dad, What are you doing?" I pulled back and white the leftover Blood from my mouth. The blood had also gotten onto River as well. He quickly removed it.

"Nothing sweetheart. Daddy and I were just hugging." Thank goodness River shielded us from her innocent eyes. He looked as flustered And breathless as I was.

"Mom. Why is your face red?" Andrea asked me.

"It's just really hot in here." I said really quickly. She looked at me confused.

"Okay let's get to the airport." River agreed with me and quickly got our things but the went upstairs to sort himself out.

We were getting settled into the plane, Andrea was engrossed in my tablet while River and I huddled together.

"I plan on picking up were we left off." He said in my ear and made me shudder.

"Just remember that." I whispered seductively. I smirked at the effect I had on him. He growled and bit my neck pulling on my skin. I bit my tongue to hold the moan.

We held each other until Andrea came to us and took nap in my arms. While she curled her little fingers in my hair.

I remember when Alice had done the same. She slept in my bed curling her little fingers in my hair till the day came when she wanted one of her own but still whenever she awoke she would crawl back into my blankets and mould herself to my silhouette.
