“What the hell is that?” May cried, backing up along with me as what looked like a devil with human eyes crawled out from the dirt at our feet.
I glanced around, this time really paying attention to the small mounds lined in rows within the great warehouse. They were the size of human bodies. I touched the spot on my arm where I’d been injected with vampire blood, remembering Ivy’s words.
“This cannot be happening,” I breathed.
“What?” May cried as she produced fire in her palms to probably use against the beast who had completely risen from the dirt now.
“They’re going to turn us into vampires.”
Her head snapped my direction, mouth open. The initial shock at my words turned to anger. “Hell to the no. I will not become undead.”
