CHAPTER 2: Meeting him

Lea's POV

I waited for awhile but didn't feel any pain, instead I heard a gasp. I opened my eyes to see the beast himself holding the guard's hand. When our eyes met a shiver ran down my spine. I got a headache and felt a bit dizzy.

"Don't you dare touch her." My heart skipped a beat when I heard his voice.

I was speechless. Everyone was. I looked around me and all the villagers were looking at me. I turned back my attention to Caleb, the beggar and took him away from the scene. After I left him, my sister came running towards me.

"Holy s**t Lea!"

"Not now Elli please." We started walking until a rough hand stopped me. I look to see who it is. Of course, the ugly guard. I looked at him annoyed.

"Sir-"

"Come with me." He barked. Rude much!

"Where to?"

"CAN YOU FOLLOW ME WITHOUT ASKING QUESTIONS? The prince wants to see you."

"Elli go home and tell mom and dad I'll be back soon. Don't tell them that I am at the royal palace. Tell them I'm at Nolan's house okay?"

"Okay." She hesitantly left me and headed home.

Once we arrived to the castle I was led to the dungeons. What the hell. He said the prince wanted to see me what happened to that? The smell of fresh blood was so strong. I felt nauseous.

"I was shoved inside a cell where there was blood on the floor and walls.

"P-please I didn't do anything! I o-only helped a friend." I cried.

"Shut up" He yelled at me.

After awhile the cell was opened and a guard held me by my hand and led me to a door. I tried to take as much breath as I can to bet rid of the awful smell and the nauseous feeling. The guard knocked on the door and seconds later we heard a rough voice telling us to enter.

"Your highness here's the girl."

"You may leave." The beast said calmly.

"Yes your majesty." The guard bowed and left me alone with beast.

"What is your name?" I looked at him hesitantly. "ARE YOU DEAF? I asked you what's your f*****g name? Answer me."

"L-Lea. My name is Lea Carter." I said looking at the floor.

"Look at me." My head shot up looking at him.

I studied him. He was tall and very muscular. His chocolate eyes could drown you and pull you. Although they were void of any emotion. They were cold just like his personality. He was sitting on his chair making his muscles bulge and he looked intimidating. It's a shame that such beauty is a beast.

I came back to reality when I saw him getting up and approaching me. I tensed waiting for his reaction.

"I'm not sorry about w-what happened he was shoved on the ground and I needed to help him I-"

"Marry me." He said coldly.

"W-what?" I was shocked by what he said.

"I will become king after my father. I need a wife as soon as possible an you will be the perfect wife."

"And if I refuse?" I challenged him. I know it's wrong but is he sane? I believe in true love. I believe that a marriage should be based on love. What he's asking from me is wrong.

"If you refuse I'll kill you." He shrugged like he was talking about the weather.

"Your majesty I believe that a marriage should be based on love." He tensed and glared at me.

"Love? What do you know about love? You're a naive girl." He was raging. What is wrong with him?

"Sir I-"

"Don't speak nonsense about love anymore!" He yelled.

"I'm sorry." I screamed. His eyes had some kind of pain in them.

"Guards." He yelled and two guards came rushing into the office.

"Yes sir?"

"Take her back to the village." He spat venomously.

"Come." The blonde one said dragging me outside.

I followed them keeping my mouth shut. That was strange. I was shaking from fear. I may be a tough girl and strong but the beast can kill me with his bare hands and he wouldn't feel anything about it. I'm not ready to die. Once I was outside the castle's gates I started running. Running from the beast. I was scared and hungry. Does he expect that I will marry him with this attitude?

"Lea dear are you okay?" Mrs Garfield asked me but I heard her voice like I'm under the water and she's speaking to me. I felt my lungs close up. This can't be happening.

"Lea! Someone help her!" I heard someone yell until I fell into the arms of a man I couldn't see his face clearly.

"Breath Lea and look at me." He said. I knew this voice.

"N-Nolan?" I whispered.

"Yes sweetheart take a deep breath everything will be okay."

After a couple of minutes I was able to breath again. I looked around me to see everyone was looking at me worriedly.

"Aren't you with your mom?"

"She's better now. She caught a flue. Elli told me what happened and I was heading to the castle to see you. What happened?"

"Nothing." I whispered. He didn't look convinced but let me calm down.

"Come on let's sit down near the fountain." He helped me stand up and held both my hands and led me towards the fountain. We sat down and I leaned to his chest breathing fresh air.

"I'm grateful to have you as a best friend you know? I'm so happy that Elli told you. I think I might've died ." He tensed.

"Don't say that Lea." He scolded me.

"I'm sorry." I said.

"I must go home Nolan. My parents must be waiting for me and Elli is surely worried so much."

"Yes she was crying and shaking the whole time." He told me. I nodded and left him and headed home.

While walking I thought about what I was going to do. How my life was turned upside down. If I accept am I going to be able to live with a beast or will he kill me in the end? And if I refuse I will sure be killed. Can he be anymore ruthless? What does he want from me? Any noble woman would die to marry him.

"Lea!"

"Mr Milton? Are you okay?"

"I should be asking you that. Anyway I know you don't want to talk about what happened but here's the book. You dropped it when they took you." He gave me the book 'Dracula' back.

"Thank you so much." I smiled brightly at him. Dracula does change my mood.

I knocked on our house's door and waited for someone to open the door. After 2 minutes, my sister opened the door. She jumped on me and hugged me tight.

"Thank god I was so afraid. I didn't know what to do so I went to Nolan to help me. I'm sorry if you didn't want to tell him but I was so afraid and-"

"Elli it's okay. It was good that you told him."

"Oh thank god. Come inside dinner is ready." She pulled me with him.

"Lea good you're on time." Mom said hugging me and kissing my cheek.

"Eliza I'm hungry." We heard my dad's voice.

"5 more minutes Vincent." Mom yelled back.

"Okay sweetheart I'm waiting! Love you." He yelled back.

"Love you too." Mom had a big smile on her face as we set the table.

Elli and I shared a look and smiled secretly until I remembered the prince's words. I sat down and tried to swallow my tears. Tomorrow I will tell my parents but tonight I want to enjoy it with them. I love my parents to death. Ever since my accident they were so close to me. Nolan too was the best friend and brother I could have ever asked for. My sister Elli was a b***h but we loved each other to death. She was my secret keeper. She was there for me always never leaving my side and never judging me. I was so grateful for the little family I had. I'm so grateful I'm living in a loving home and with loving friends. Not only I have Nolan, but I have 3 more friends that were there for me at my lowest.

"Vincent honey dinner is ready." Mom yelled and my dad came running inside the kitchen.

"Oh my favourite girls are here. I'm so lucky." He laughed and kissed us all on the forehead.

"We love you dad." We said and my cheek started hurting from how hard I was smiling.

"I love you too my beautiful girls." He replied and we heard a knock on the door.

"Royal message." Someone said and I tensed. s**t!
