Bella's eyes shook, she stood up quicker than lightning. At the garden's entrance was Matias, a man ,who looked like a doctor, and Lucaon, who was covered with bandages all over his body.
"It seems like I don't need to go out and find her." Lucaon whispered.
"What the hell are you talking about? Is the person you're looking for a girl- '' Matias glared at Lucaon but when he saw Lucaon's eyes fixed to a certain direction, he followed his gaze. "You... don't tell me. The one you are looking for is Bella?" Matias asked, but he was already too late because Lucaon started to run to where Bella was standing.
Lucaon ran to Bella like he was running for his life, while Bella was stunned and only stared at him. Bella realized that Lucaon was running full speed towards her and became scared. If Lucaon couldn't control his speed and balance, the both of them might fall over and Lucaon would crush Bella into a pancake.
"W-wai-" Bella tried to stop Lucaon but he was already in front of her.
Lucaon crouched and hugged her. Bella could feel her feet leaving the ground and Lucaon's arms wrapped tightly around her like he never wanted to let her go.
"Just why did you leave the cave? I almost lost my mind when I saw some blood at the cliff." Lucaon whispered, his voice was hard and it seemed like he was so angry that he was suppressing himself to shout at Bella.
Bella was panicking at Lucaon's sudden actions, but after she heard Lucaon's hard voice, for some unknown reason she calmed down and felt sorry. Her panicked eyes softened and raised her arms. Bella hugged Lucaon's neck, while Lucaon buried his head on her chest.
"I'm sorry. I'll explain everything to you, but first you need to take a rest. Your body is not in a good condition for you to move around. Also put me down, your wounds will open." Bella said to calm Lucaon down.
Lucaon obliged and put Bella down but he was still hugging her. Bella felt conscious of their height difference. She felt small in Lucaon's arms, no, she was truly small in his arms.
"Ahem!"
Bella's eyes widened at the sound of Matias faking a cough. She quickly tried to push away Lucaon but failed miserably, Lucaon didn't even budge an inch.
"Oh, you're actually ignoring me." Matias teased.
"Luca, let me go. It's embarrassing." Bella whispered to Lucaon.
Bella was red from embarrassment when Lucaon still didn't listen to her and caused Matias to clear his throat once again. In the end, Bella hid her face to Lucaon's big body.
"Hey, you bastard! Let her go already! You will crush her at this rate!" Matias punched Lucaon's shoulder and Bella felt the force from the punch.
"Master, don't punch him! His wounds will open again!" The doctor shouted.
The shoulder Matias punch was wrapped in bandages. It was still clean before Matias punched it but a red spot quickly spread after the punch. And with that event, everyone in the garden started to panic. Lucaon was taken to one of the rooms.
***
Lucaon was resting in the room next to Bella's. He fell asleep earlier after tiring himself out from asking Bella if she's okay and checking if she is hurt. Bella told Lucaon about what happened to her, how Lyca helped her and how she ended up in the Emmett tribe.
He fell asleep even before Bella could finish telling him what happened. He was holding Bella's hands when he fell asleep. It had been three hours and he still hadn't let go of her hand nor did his grip loosened.
In the end, Bella decided to stay with Lucaon. She remembered how Matias looked at her teasingly with a smile on his face.
Bella also remembered how Matias and Lucaon argued with each other earlier and Bella's assumption that Matias was the one chasing Lucaon became a distant thought.
Without noticing, Bella fell asleep beside the bed. An hour later, Lucaon woke up and saw Bella sleeping with her head resting on the bed. He let go of Bell's hand, carried her and laid her on the bed before going out of the room.
He walked around like he owned the place but that was only because he knew every secret door in this house. He went to the kitchen and pulled a knife. A rattling sound occurred for a few seconds before it was gone like it was never heard.
Lucaon then walked near the cabinet in the kitchen. There was a door enough for two men to fit. He walked inside and closed the door before he went down the stairs. There was a secret room in the kitchen. It was especially made for Matias, the leader of the Emmett tribe. There is also an entrance in Matias' room but Lucaon entered through a different door because he didn't want to deal with the traps in Matias' room.
Matias had his back to Lucaon, however, he felt his presence and spoke.
"You're here. What do you want to talk about?" Matias decided to go straight to the point. He knew that Lucaon wouldn't meet him secretly if there was nothing he wanted to talk about.
It took Lucaon a while before he spoke.
"The leader of the Jai tribe." Lucaon said.
Matias still had his back to Lucaon so he didn't see the frown that appeared when he said those words. Matias sighed and stopped what he was doing. He faced Lucaon and stared at him for a while, observing his expressions.
"So, he was the one who ordered to hunt you after all. But, how did you know that it was him?"
Lucaon stared at the ground and the frown on his forehead deepened. His eyes were so serious that if gazes could cause an explosion, the floor would have exploded a long time ago.
"While I was fighting with Wyatt's underlings, I saw one of his men spying on us. Although, I don't get why the spy didn't take the opportunity to capture me while I was exhausted from my previous fight." Lucaon was in deep thought.
Matais' brows furrowed at what Lucaon said. 'That really is strange. After fighting with Wyatt's underlings who were considered as Dillon tribe's greatest warriors, I am sure that Lucaon was past his limits and was exhausted, not to mention his injuries that he got from the fight. The spy could easily have caught him if he did, but decided not to. Why?' He thought.
They were in deep thought trying to find the answer of the question 'why didn't the spy let Lucaon go and not catch him?'.
In the end, Matias sighed. He couldn't think of any answer at all. And although the thought of the spy following Lucaon inside the Emmett tribe's land crossed his mind, he shook it right away. The Emmett tribe's warriors were the strongest warriors in all of the tribes on the island. So, if the spy wanted to die then he would've followed Lucaon here.
"For now, I will try and investigate this matter. You go and catch up with your girl." Matias shooed Lucaon with his hands and was about to turn around but Lucaon spoke.
"She's not my girl!" Lucaon said as a reflex.
Matias saw Lucaon's shocked face after hearing his serious tone. Matias suddenly burst out laughing at Lucaon's denial.
"Yeah, yeah. Just go." Matias said in between his snickers. Lucaon just glared at him and left. He went back to where he left Bella asleep.
Bella woke up and saw Lucaon watching her in her sleep. She blushed at the thought of him watching her for hours. Bella also noticed that she was lying on the bed.
"Did you carry me?" Bella asked.
"Yes." Lucaon answered. He stared at her for a few moments before standing up and reaching his hand to Bella.
Bella stared at Lucaon's hand in front of her. She was confused as to what was Lucaon's motive for reaching his hand to her. She switched her gaze from Lucaon's hand to Lucaon's face.
"Let's go outside. I'll show you around the village." Lucaon noticed Bella's confusion, so he explained.
Bella's face brightened after hearing what Lucaon said. Lucaon chuckled at Bella's reaction. She placed her hand in Lucaon's own, she noticed the size difference of their hands. It looked like an adult holding a baby's hand.
Bella unconsciously flushed and they both went out off the estate. Lucaon first took Bella to the shops in the village. Bella was so amazed as they both walked at the sides. She could feel the stares of the people on the two of them. She has no idea if it was because she was unlike anyone who looked like a normal person to them or if Lucaon is just getting too much than he intended to have.
"This village was one of the oldest villages in the island and also the most undeveloped one but ever since one of the outsiders came here he changed the village into what it is now." Lucaon was telling Bella the history of the Emmett tribe since he started touring her and the last thing he said caught Bella's attention.
"Did you just say outsider?" Bella asked. She thought that the outsider that Lucaon was talking about was someone who came from the other islands or country or continent just like her.
"Yes." Lucaon simply said but he was startled when Bella suddenly grabbed his arm.
"Where is that outsider? Is he still here or did the outsider already go home? How was he able to leave if he did?" Bella poured the question to Lucaon.
Lucaon stared at Bella and noticed the desperation in her eyes. He felt his chest tightening just from the thought of Bella leaving the island, leaving him behind. He frowned but immediately replaced it with a blank expression.
"He is still on this island. He went back to be exact." Lucaon said.
'He went back in here?!' Bella was flabbergasted. She couldn't believe that the outsider was able to escape the Dillon tribe's eyes thrice. She started to question herself if the outsider was still alive.
"How was he able to leave the island?" Bella asked cautiously.
Lucaon stared at her for a few moments before walking away from her and answering.
"I don't know." He said.
"Then, do you know where that man is? Is he here?" Bella asked, trying to catch up and match Lucaon's long strides.
"No, I don't." Lucaon's answer were short and final. It sounded like he doesn't want to talk about the outsider anymore so Bella didn't push the topic any longer. However, Bella couldn't shake away the thought that Lucaon was hiding something from her.
The rest of the day went smoothly and the sun was already setting when they went back to the estate. Bella was already going inside the big house but Lucaon grasped her wrist and led her to somewhere behind the estate.
"Where are we going?" Bella asked as she looked at Lucaon's wide back. He looked back at her and smiled.
"To my favorite place in this village." He let go of Bella's wrist and ran forward towards the tall fence.
"Wait! Why are you running towards the fence? It's dangerous!" Bella panicked as she watched how Lucaon ran towards the tall fence. For a moment, Lucaon looked like he was going to crash at the fence, however, contrary to what Bella thought, Lucaon jumped and easily landed on top of the fence.
Bella looked at him with a frown on her face. She was displeased because she felt like people kept worrying her for the last few hours.
Lucaon stretched his arms out. He smiled when he saw Bella's expression. He reached for Bella but she only stared at his hands. She glared at it before switching her eyes to Lucaon.
"Come on, I will help you up." Lucaon said.
"I don't want to." Bella was about to turn around and go back to the big house.
"You wouldn't want to miss this incredible view." Lucaon said, which made Bella look back at him. Only then did Bella realize the sunlight that was hitting Lucaon's face.
It was sunset.
