Ultimately, it didn’t matter—Thanatos had come here with a duty, and it was about time for him to fulfill it. Great wings held aloft, he swept through the castle doors, passing through stone and mortar like a ghost. It was getting later in the day, almost evening, and so Sisyphus was not found in the main chamber, entertaining any guests that had come that day. Instead, he was inside his private bedroom, a room deep within the castle, with dark curtains pulled in front of every window. He was sitting at the desk, writing something, and there was no one else nearby.
