Chapter 6

Breathe. Marilyn thought as she tried to hold herself together. There was no possible way. It was to insane. A relatively normal girl just so happens to be a princess? It sounds like one of those romantic novels she read. All that was missing was the male lead busting in. She thought to herself. Suddenly the large doors to the throne room opened. "Lord Damien" Marilyn said as Damien walked into the throne room as if he owned the place. "This is a private matter Duke James and I did not allow you permission to enter" the king said, obviously annoyed as Damien put his arm around Marilyn. "I apologize your majesty but as this matter whatever it may be has to do with my fiance and you gave me no notice of such an event I thought it best I come and pick her up from your capable hands myself" Damien said with a smile. "Fiance" Marilyn questioned in a whisper. "Shh" he replied "ah how perfect you have already met my dear granddaughter then" the king said almost as if challenging Damien. Damien turned to Marilyn for a moment. Before looking back at the king. "If I could your majesty, unlike my brother, I do not wish to become a royal," she told the king. "And why not?" The king questioned. "I am not fond of attention my king far from it if truth be told," she replied. "I see" he said. "We shall continue to delve into this matter at a later date then you have all been dismissed" the king said. "Thank you your majesty" Marilyn and Damien said with a bow before leaving the throne room. "Put lady Victoria in a comfortable room until the count arrives" they heard the king say as her brother Simon followed behind them. "We should talk" Damien said. "Marilyn" Simon said as the doors closed behind them. "Not here" Marilyn told Damien before shooting her brother a glare. "I shall lead you to your room princess" the butler said and Marilyn Damien and Simon followed. "Marilyn I beg you please listen" Simon said as she continued to ignore him. "Here you are," the butler said as he opened the door to her new room. "Thank you" Marilyn said before the butler walked away. "Marilyn" Simon said again and Marilyn turned to Damien. "Would you mind waiting outside for just a moment Damien?" Marilyn asked and with a slight nod of his head He went into the hall and closed the door behind him. "How dare you," Marilyn said, turning to her brother. "I did this for you," Simon told her. "You did this for you," Marilyn said. "3 years of no contact and I had lost hope that my brother was still alive. Is this how you treat your family?" She asked him. "Marilyn I beg of you" Simon attempted to plead. "There is no need to plead with me Simon for I no longer hold any trust in you" she told him, turning away from him. "You have thrown mother and I into the tiger's den and at what cost I ask you?" She said turning to him again with a pitiful look on her face. "Marilyn in these last 3 years you my sister are the only one I thought for not even our own cold hearted mother, with you here with your gift we could benefit the kingdom beyond the belief of reality" he told her. Her eyes went wide as she registered there the words he had just said. "You knew?" She asked him. "What?" He Questioned. "You knew of my gift and you told him didn't you?" Marilyn asked, taking a step forward her face looked as if she had been betrayed. "Marilyn, I thought it best," he said. "Get out," she told him. "Mari please," he said. "I SAID GET OUT" She yelled. He stood there for a moment just staring at her before turning and leaving the room. Damien who was still waiting in the hall now stood in the doorway. "May I enter?" he asked and with a slight nod of her head he entered the room and closed the door behind him. "So it seems you truly ate more than just a common girl" he said in hopes of lightening her mood. "So it seems" Marilyn repeated. "What are you doing here anyway Damien I had hoped the way we parted scared you away from me" she told him. "I thought you were intimidated by the thought of war?" He Questioned. "It would be unfortunate but after much thought I understand why you thought it the only way" she replied. "In reality it's not as if it's something that will never happen whether it's you who starts it or not" she told him. "You don't have to decide right away, you know there is still much time," he told her. "Considering you called me your fiance I had thought the choice was taken from me" she said as she looked him in his eyes. "I said that because I thought you were in danger," he told her. "Though if you did wish to agree to marriage I would not say no" he told her. "What is it you truly wish from me Damien, what is it that you believe I can achieve?" She asked him. "It's as I already said" he said walking towards her door. "I believe you are the only one who can bring together the natural and unnatural world, I believe you are the key to it Marilyn Sinclair, you and your special ability to see the dead" he said before leaving Marilyn alone in the room. He walked only a few feet down the hall before noticing Simon standing in his path. "I greet your highness the second prince" Damien said with a quick bow. "What is it you want from my sister duke of Crescent" Simon asked. "What is it you want from her second prince who has only just appeared?" Damien retorted. "Stay away from her," Simon said, pushing past her. "I'm not the one she wishes to avoid Simon... you are" Damien said without turning to Simon. "You know nothing," Simon said as he continued to walk. TO BE CONTINUED
