Star's POV
I remain frozen and allow Zola to take all her anger out of me. I can't begin to imagine what she is feeling right now. Seeing her own mother dead is something no child should ever have to witness, especially like this. She wasn't just dead, she was murdered.
Andrew pulls Zola away from me and tries to calm her a bit, but with no luck. She manages to escape his hold and continues to punch and kick me.
"STAR! SAY SOMETHING!" Andrew yells, clearly pissed that I'm simply allowing myself to get injured from Zola. I'll heal, so I'm not concerned about it.
After exhausting herself from all the swinging and kicking, she falls to the floor and begins to cry. There we go. That's what I was waiting for. I slowly kneel beside Zola, and Andrew kneels on the other side of the heartbroken young lady. Placing my hand on her shoulder, "Zola. I am so sorry for your loss. I promise to find out who did this and they will be punished." At my words, she lifts her head and looks at me with such anger and sadness.
"Shut up. I know you did this and you will pay for what you've done." My heart aches and my wolf growls from being accused of such a thing. "Don't pretend you didn't want my mom dead in order to become the mood goddess sooner. " She looks at Andrew, "I'm not stupid. I know you heard me slip up and call Selene my mom the other day and I'm sure you went ahead and told your girlfriend here."
"I should be the next in line to be moon goddess, not you!" She now is standing and growling at me. My wolf feels threatened and in begging to come to the surface, but I hold her back. Violence won't solve anything with Zola.
"I'm sure your mother had her reasons, but I assure you, I am not your enemy. I loved your mother as my own." By now, all the guards and maids are in the doorway, gasping and crying.
Grabbing Zola's hand, I stand up tall. "One, if not more than one of you, killed Selene and I will find out. As of now, not a single person is allowed to leave this house. The three of us will talk with you one by one. Line up at the office. We will be there shortly."
Andrew shuts the bedroom door as soon as they begin to head down to my new office.
"You're hiding something." Zola states as she stares at me and my mate.
"On our way to talk with your mom, we bumped into one of the maids int he hallway. She was holding a bag that smelled like blood." I can practically see the steam boiling from her ears. "Who was it?" She asks through gritted teeth and hands clenched into a fist.
"Rachel." Andrew answers her question immediately.
I pull Zola's wrist gently as she started to head to the door. "Not so fast young lady. We need proof before we go ahead and execute someone. Let's question everyone first. It will be easy to tell who the liar is. Okay?"
Letting out a deep sigh, she agrees. I watch as she walks over to her mother's body and kisses her forehead before covering her body with a blanket. "I'm so sorry mom. " She whispers softly as new tears begin to shed.
