(Nisha) I woke with a start. I rubbed my eyes and knew that sleep would evade me. I felt my prickle of stary power surface. I knew sleep would continue to evade me, so I slipped outside as I had done so many times before. I wandered barefoot through the cool grass, and the moon hung overhead so close I reached up, believing for a moment that I could touch it. I wondered what it felt like. Velvet perhaps. I settled into the edge of the forest and tucked my knees in, looking up at the clear night sky. I didn’t feel like there was an overwhelming need to use my powers just to exist outside.
