I felt utterly spent as I trudged back up to my room. Isla and Isabella followed silently behind.
I shut the door behind me and fought the urge to sink to the floor. Testing my powers in a new way, the weight of the realizations I shared, the relief I felt...It was exhausting.
I f.orced myself to the bathroom and washed my body with the shower head. I wrapped myself in a fluffy towel, my eyes already shutting. When I headed to bed, the bathroom light shone on Cameron’s bare back lying on the bed. “Sorry,” he said, “habit going back here.” He sat up, and the sheets pooled around him right below his deep v-line in the golden glow behind me.
“It’s fine, I can-” I started.
“I’ll go-” Cameron said at the same time.
“You can stay,” I said, but I wasn’t sure if that meant that I
