Chapter : 7. Thinking about her..

1625 Words
Jake's point of view:- -------------------- My first date with Kizie, was not that bad. I was slightly embarrassed with her dressing sense, but her laugh made my day. She looks so dorky all the time, but her smile is something else. How her eyes shine when she laughed is mesmerizing. If she doesn't wear her glasses, she will probably look good. She should often smile also. “Wait, why am I thinking about this stuff?” “Jake get a grip on yourself. It's just a stupid bet. When it ends, I would be far away from her. And besides, she's not my type of girl.” I told myself. Right now I am in my car, heading for school and talking this kind of rubbish to myself. I have It forget everything and have to make sure she comes to that party. It's a matter of my reputation. “Hi girls.” Both girls were getting inside the school when I saw them and called out for them. “Hi, lover boy,” Sammy replied playfully while Kizie's face just turned red with shyness. “So, Kizie. I was wondering, our last date went so well that I wanted to go on another one with you. So… Would you like to go on a lunch date with me today?” I asked her. “Woo… Looks like someone doesn't want to leave his girlfriend alone.” Sammy started to mock me. “Will you shut up Sammy!” Both I and Kizie told her in unison, and she stopped talking. “Yeah Jake, I would like to go on another date with you.” I'm happy to see that she's falling for my trap. “Great. See you at lunchtime then. And bye miss smarty-pants. See you later.” I tease Sammy by calling her that and get to my classes. At lunchtime, I took Kizie to McDonald's and ordered burgers with fries, and Coke for both of us. “So, would you mind if I ask something about you?” I asked her. “No. Go on. What do you want to know?” “The first thing I would like to ask is, why do you have a curfew? And why you didn't let me pick you up or drop you at your house?” She looked a little startled by my question and I can feel that she's hesitating to answer. This girl is really weird. “It's just, my dad doesn't like me to hang out with boys till late at night. He's just trying to protect me with these rules.” She replied after a moment. “How stupid of me, I should have guessed. It's obvious that your dad would try to protect you. That's how parents are...” I noticed that her face fell hearing my comments. What is going on with her? Well, why should I care? At this moment, I should care about the bet. “Do you want to ask me something?” I told her to avoid the topic. “Hmm… I don't know what to ask. Let's start with your favorite things.” I then told her all about my favorites and asked about hers. She likes most of the normal kinds of stuff common people like in their lives. It seems like she doesn't have any big dreams at all. “By the way, you're coming to the party right?” I ask her again. “Yes, I already told you. I'm going.” I got relieved after hearing that. After we talked a little more and finished eating, we get to school. I promised her to meet tomorrow again. Don't know why, but I like spending my time with her now. The next day after the first two classes I was going to my next class when I hear someone shouting and cursing in the hallway. When I went that way, I saw Cristy shouting at Kizie while her head is bowed down to the ground. My blood started to boil from the view and I shout out. “Hey, what's going on here?” Hearing my voice both of their heads turned towards me. “Cristy, what are you doing with her?” I got near them and asked her. “Nothing Jake. This b***h was getting into my way, so I was just teaching her a lesson…” she lied to me with her slutty voice trying to convince me. I love her body but sometimes I really hate her behavior. I then ask her if she was telling the truth with a mocking tone, she started fidgeting. But when I pushed her a little she completely lost it. “Jake, are trying to tell me that you don't believe me, but you believe this w***e?” She said angrily. That made me lose control. How dare is she to call Kizie a w***e, when she is the real one. “Cristy, I am giving you the last warning. If I see you bullying her again, I swear, I'll make sure that you won't come to this school anymore.” I warn her seriously. “Fine! I don't care. You and your f*****g slut can go to hell.” With that, she stormed out of here. Then I turned to Kizie and ask her to follow me. “But I have classes right now…” I told her that I don't care about classes and started to drag her by hand. I took her to a park and sat there. I'm getting frustrated now. Why is she affecting me so much? Why do I care whatever happens to her? What's going on with me? I cupped my face while asking all these questions to myself. “Kizie, what is wrong with you?” I ask her why she's behaving this way. She got silent by my question making me angrier. “Why aren't you speaking up. Say something goddammit!” I screamed at her and she got startled. “Because I can't…” this was her only reply. What does she mean by 'she can't'? When I asked her about it again she told me all of it. How her guardians torchers her and why she's so scared to fight for herself. I heard everything silently. Now I know why she acts so weird all the time. I can't believe anyone could go through all of this alive. I really feel sorry for her. Not only that, but I think it would be better if I leave her alone after the party... Today's my birthday but the only thing going through my mind is Kizie. I can't get her thoughts out of my head, from the moment I woke up in the morning. I can't imagine how all of that's going in her life. That's why Sammy protects her all the time. “Good morning son.” I was so deep into my thoughts that I didn't notice when my mom came inside my room and greeted me. “Jake, honey!” She shook my shoulder and then I noticed her. “Hey mom, good morning.” “Happy birthday honey.” She hugged me. “When did you come? I didn't notice you.” I asked her breaking the hug. “I just came. Everything alright?” She asked me after seeing my whimsical mind. “Yes, mom everything's fine. I was just thinking about if I have invited all my friends to the party or not.” I lied to her. “Oh ok. I can't believe how fast my little boy turned into a man. It's time for you to take over the family business now, you remember right?” “Yes mom, I remember. But I haven't graduated yet. I want to complete my graduation before taking over dad's work.” “I know son, you have time till then. But after that, you have to commit to your responsibility. But for today you go and enjoy your birthday however you want…” “Thank you, mom. See you later. Bye.” With that, I get out of the house and went to celebrate my birthday with friends. It's 8 pm already, and I'm in the club where we are having this party. My eyes are looking towards the entry for Kizie all the time. She is not here yet. “Hey, Jake, where is your girlfriend?” One of my friends asked me to make fun of me and started laughing. Why isn't she here yet? What if she's not coming? No, I can't lose this bet to my friends today. It'll leave a huge scar on my reputation. Quickly grabbing my phone I called her. “Hello, where are you guys? You're coming to my party tonight right?” “What party? Oh! It's tonight? I completely forgot…” Kizie replied making me go through a shock. “Are you kidding me? You forgot about the party?” I started shouting in anger. But on the other side, I hear them laughing their breaths out. What's going on? “Relax Jake we're just joking. How can I forget about your birthday party when the birthday boy kept asking me himself every day!” “Thank god. You just gave me a heart attack… Where are you guys?” “We're in the car. Sammy's saying that we will be there in 5 minutes. Don't worry.. “Okay then, I'll be waiting for you.” with that I cut the call. I took a long breath in relaxation and told my friends that they are nearly here, and got busy talking with my friends.
