" Did you hear, there's a rumour that we are getting a substitute professor " my course mate Sally whispered to me in class the next morning
" do you know who it is?" I asked
"Am not sure, some say he's a great business man from China. They say he's only stationary here for a month"
"A month? They got rid of Mr Griffin for someone who would only teach for a month?"
Sally shrugged
" you don't know, might be a genius"
" Like Einstein?"
" Yeah like Einstein "
I rolled my eyes at Sally's grin.
Whatever. I didn't really care as long as I got a chance to submit my essay.
I focused my attention back on the English professor and continued scribbling down notes.
Suddenly there was a female student who came into the hall and walked towards the English professor whispering something to her.
I didn't pay much attention to it and focused on my notes,that was until my name was called
" Jennifer Wilson?"
Every attention in class turned to me
" yes ma'am?"
"The headmaster would like to see you"
Immediate worry filled me, Did I do something wrong? great, he probably found out about us sneaking to a night party
Nonetheless, I made my way out of the hall and down the hallways towards the headmaster's office which thankfully wasn't too far from this department
On finally making it to the door, I knocked on it. There was a small " come in" from the inside and I pushed the door open.
" good morning sir " I greeted the large bulky man of a headmaster.
" morning. come have a sit dear" he said motioning to the free chair opposite his desk
I did as he asked of me and took a seat opposite him. Mr Jefferson wiped his forehead with a handkerchief which wasn't necessary since the air condition in his office prevented him from sweating.
" you must be wondering why I have called you here Miss Wilson " Mr Jefferson asked
" you must have your reasons sir"I replied humbly
Mr Jefferson smiled satisfied " Correct there you are. But I'll tell you right away. I am sure you heard of the coming of our new professor "
"Yes sir"
" Good, now listen well, this professor is a well achieved business man, even in China he is very esteemed. Although he is very young he is the CEO of one of the biggest law institutions in China. He has come to New York for some business but fortunately for us he has volunteered to teach in our academy for the time of his stay. Mr Shen is really Influential and that is why I will take my time to warn you not to do anything that will anger him or make him change his mind"
I was a bit lost at that
" I don't understand sir, how does any of this involve me? I've never met him before so how can I possibly do anything that will annoy him?"
Mr Jefferson nodded his head once more . "you see my dear, you have been personally selected on behalf of the school to go welcome Mr Shen"
" personally selected by who?"
I was an average student so why in the entire school pick me?
" Even I am not sure. But this request comes from the higher ups, so you will go and prepare yourself well and tonight you shall be escorted to his residence"
" did you say night? Why do I..."
" that's enough" I was rudely cut short in my sentence. Mr Jefferson didn't seem like the patient type. " You may go and prepare "
" yes sir "
Still confused on the entirety of the meeting, I stalked my way out of the office. Truth was I didn't even know what to think
' did my step father set this up?'
No, he would have picked Kylie if it were so. He would never waste even a slightly good opportunity on me
' whatever, I'll just go along with it and see as it goes.
