Chapter 01. HIS ENEMY

"Here!” “Woah. Saluhin mo.” “Wag yung salamin ko! Ibalik mo yan, Syren!” “What if I don’t feel that way? Pano na yan? Al!” Syren threw it away from the boy and Al caught it while laughing with his heart’s content. “Wala na syang makita, o.” dagdag pa ni Cleo. At sabay-sabay silang nagtawanan. As a student in Ford High Academy, you must know them. Or else, hindi ka pa namamatay, mararansasan mo na ang impyerno. Syren's group was really famous in everything. One of those? Making fun of others. They didn’t feel pity on them but the contrary, they enjoyed watching their sobs and begs. That was their way of having fun. Most especially, Syren. Most of the students were afraid of him. Well, just to inform you, he was just the school owner's grandson that's why he can do everything that he wanted in the campus. What he wants, he gets. With ALL MEANS, whether you like it or not, he didn’t care. If Ford High is a kingdom, then he is the rebel prince. “You like me, right?” he said smirking. He hated aggressive, over-confident girls. That’s why, he wanted to teach them a lesson they would never forget. “B-but—” “Do it. You had the courage to confess to me so I expect that you can also do that.” She bowed her head and became silent for a while. The girl was a member of Student Government Office (SGO) and the school's student president, Ma. Faye Leoncio. She's a daughter of one of the board members—comes from a wealthy family and an honor student, second in over-all. She's the kind of student you will never imagine could do such thing as confessing first towards a guy. “Kung doon ka masaya, then I’ll do it.” How foolish. He smirked at his sudden thought. She began to remove her necktie without breaking a gaze. He chuckled. Do not judge the book by its cover, they say. Who would have thought she could be so stupid? She was starting to unbutton her blouse. “Syren Bryant Ford, I like you,” she said. “And CUT!” Her eyes widened with so much shock when she discovered that they were not alone. Lumabas si Al while holding a camera. He’s one of Syren's companions, together with Cleo, on his every claptrap. “Nice expression. Well done, Miss President.” Cleo added, while playing the ball with his hands. He was the school basketball team's captain. “Did you film me??” Syren smirked when he saw her panicked. Naglakad siya papunta sa babae and leaned his face towards her ears. “Thank you. It was fun.” He looked at her and saw tears which were falling in her eyes. She was looking at him so madly na tinawanan lang niya. “Where’s the sweet gaze of yours, honey?” “Devil.” Yeah, that’s me. “See you around.” He glanced at her one last time sabay tingin sa dalawang kasama. “Let’s go.” “Aba ayos a? Nung nawala ka sa list, ang daming nangahas.” Al said while laughing. They were at the second floor of the other building at tanaw na tanaw ang mga mukha ng candidates for Mr. & Ms. Ford High. He wasn't really interested. May gusto lamang siyang makumpirma. “Stupid. Hindi na pwedeng sumali ang nanalo na. That’s a rule,” pambabara ni Cleo kay Al. You heard it right. He had already won last year. Not just here in the academy but in all-high school competition. That’s how he became the talk-of-the-town. He, himself, knows that he's a good looking guy. That's why he could not blame those girls confessing. He has the looks, the wealth and the reputation. At dahil din sa competition na 'yon, he gained popularity and many fashion magazines wanted him to be their model. That’s the start of his career in modeling but he didn’t take that seriously. Perfect na nga sana na maituturing kung hindi lamang siya isang bully. He considered being bad as one of his charms kaya wala kang makikitang 'awa' sa kanyang mukha because pity is not written in his dictionary. “Wow. So, sumali siya?” He chuckled and smirked after he found what he was looking for. “Is this her way of getting my enemy’s attention?” “Oo nga no?” Cleo also saw it at nakatingin na sila ngayon sa picture nya. Chelsie Jhade Kleiner “Ano nang plano mo ngayon?” Al asked and looked to him. He blew a sigh. “Nothing. At this moment. Since wala na siyang kwenta.” He crossed his arms and placed it on the railings while smiling. “So, I need something else, something more useful this time. Yung sobrang sakit pag tumama. Whatever ‘that’ is, I still don’t know.” Al turned his back leaning against the railings. “Madali na lang sana ‘to kung may gusto siyang babae.” “Exactly my point.” Syren sneered at Al’s idea. “All we need to do right now is to wait.” He stood up straight and walked away with a smirk thinking of grand ideas to plot. Perfect timing really is perfect. And I will stick on my last card. He thought wearing an evil smile. “Good evening po, Sir Syren. Nabisita po ka—” “Where’s Mom?” He asked ignoring the greeting. “Sa garden po. May bisita.” “Sino daw?” “Ang tita nyo po.” He suddenly smirked. So, he’s finally back, huh? “Syren, hijo!” napaharap siya sa tumawag and he just gave a half-smile. “Waa, you’re now a man!” Stef commented. She's his father's sister, her aunt. It’s been three years and he was on seventh grade back then simula nung umalis ang pamilya nila papuntang France due to business matters. “Well, same height na yata kayo ni Yusef ngayon.” His expression suddenly changed. “Maybe, he’s taller pero parang konti lang ang difference. You two are more handsome than before. Hindi na nga kayo bata.” He rolled his eyes hearing that. Here they are again. Comparing me and him. Seriously, what’s with them? “Son, napadalaw ka," mom said, surprised by his sudden visit. “Just getting some of my stuffs. Sige po. I’ll go na.” naglakad na siya at tinalikuran sila. “Ah, Syren?" He sighed exasperatedly and turned around. “Yes?” my aunt smiled. “If you’re looking for Yusef, he’s in the garden. Okay?” He smiled back. Thanks for reminding me. “By the way tita, welcome home.” he said trying to sound sweetly and smirked right after. “It’s good to be back.” Yusef said smilingly with his eyes closed. “It is.” Bumukas bigla ang mga mata niya nang marinig ang boses ni Syren. He insisted a smile and faced him. “Long time no see, cousin. I heard you're living alone. Kamusta?” “I’m perfectly fine. Gwapo pa rin.” He suddenly chuckled when Syren said that. “Same as before. Nothing’s change, I guess.” “So, you’re back. For good?” “Until graduation.” “Edi, ayos pala. Hindi ako mab-bored.” Yusef's mood suddenly changed after hearing those words from his cousin's mouth. Their gazes met and looked at each other impudently. He was aware of those lines. Syren was provoking him. Simula pa pagkabata ay mainit na ang dugo ng pinsan sa kanya. But this time, kailangan nang may sumuko. He was sure that he must, na walang patutunguhan ang lahat. That's why he just sighed afterwards and walked away. He was about to enter the mansion when Syren started to speak again. “Chelsie is joining the pageant.” bigla syang napahinto at gulat na hinarap ang kanyang pinsan. “Good for her, right? And thanks to you, she can now stand with the crowd. She gained self-confidence because of you. Waa...tsk tsk tsk. You’re really her knight in shining armor.” Syren said with full of sarcasm. “Akala ko ba tinigilan mo na sya?” Yusef’s tone suddenly changed as well na ikinatuwa lalo ni Syren. “Chill. Chill ka lang, okay?” He chuckled before continuing. “I did. I really stop bugging her. Sa tingin mo ba, makakasali siya dyan kung hindi ko pa siya tinitigilan? She’s now happy. She‘s having friends right now. And all thanks to you.” Yusef sighed. “Please lang, Syren. Stop this nonsense. I want my stay here in peace.” In peace, you say? Syren smirked. “Sorry insan.” He walked towards Yusef and patted his right shoulder. “But that’s the last thing I’ll do in my entire life. I’m just starting. Relax. Don’t worry. On your first day, I will do nothing. Hmm?” He patted Yusef's right shoulder again twice and walked away from him with an evil smile on his face. I’m just waiting for the right time. Makakaganti rin ako sayo... ...Insan.
