Jake’s introspective character dominated his next two days. Deep down, he knew that he could trust Freya, so he no longer worried about the demon. He should have been concerned over what to do about the ring. Instead, because of the anxious side to his nature, his mind that hadn’t picked up on Freya’s decision at the time, now ruminated over it, obsessively rendering him fretful. The goddess, or rather seraph, had told him to wait two days before contacting Alice. But what did those words that had passed almost unnoticed mean? ‘As a reward for your adoration of me, I will visit your earthly beloved and fill her head with desire for you. Of course, I’ll need to make one or two other adjustments to her. Fear not, she will not see me as I’ll be invisible.’
