Jake took a deep breath and rang the Cambridge number of his first wife Heather. When he announced who the caller was, there was a moment’s awkward silence, then, “Oh, hello, Jake how are you? I read about your businessman of the year award, well done!”
“I’m well and thank you. What about you, Heather?”
“Stop me when you’re bored. We’re on a very exciting dig at Eddington on the outskirts of the city. Perhaps you’ve read about it? No? We have a 150-hectare site and it promises to be even bigger. Just last week we found a Roman villa. It’s thrilling when you start bringing to light mosaics that have been covered for two thousand years. But you know me, I could go on for ages about the coins, the various other artefacts and the buildings.”
