"No, no, no!" I jerked away from Kento when he reached out to me. I marched the short distance over the blackened chasm that used to be my home. I slammed my palm against Reed's shoulder. Jasper couldn't be gone - dead - like my mom, like my dad, like anyone who got too close to me, anyone I cared about. "He's not dead, did you hear me? H-He can't be. I don't believe it."
