Chapter 03

Eliza’s POV:

“Since you weren’t able to enjoy the welcome party last night, I’ve arranged for us a second chance. We can try again this afternoon by the pool. How cool is that?” The enthusiasm dripped from Anna’s words. She was waiting for me while I stood in the changing room to get changed. We had already collected the necessary shopping bags, and this was the last store.

“You just needed a reason to party, didn’t you?” I playfully responded.

I was trying a bikini, a deep red color with golden embellishments. The closure was at the front. The bikini had a matching Brazilian bottom, which was easy to adjust with the strings on the side.

“What do you think of this? Is this something for your party?” I opened the curtain of the changing room and showed my bikini to Anna.

“Oh girl, it looks great on you! I’d still add that cover-up to go with it. You know, just to leave something to the imagination.” With a wink, she walked away to get the sarong. After shopping, we drove back to the pack house.

Auntie Su had prepared all the snacks and drinks and placed them at the pool bar.

“Auntie Su, you are the best! Thank you so much for all the tasty snacks and getting the sunbeds ready.” Anna gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek. When we walked back in through the back door to get our bags from the living room, Jason was standing there looking at the bags.

“Anna, tell me this isn’t all yours?” he pointed his hand at all the bags.

“No, silly, Liz’s bags are there too.”

“Okay, now go upstairs to clean it up and get you ready. Ben will be there shortly.”

“Anna, are you sure this is suitable?” I felt a little insecure. I didn’t want to become a lust object at the pool party.

“Girl, it looks great on you! Tie that sarong, I grabbed, around your hips so we could go down.” We ran into Jason in the hallway.

“Ladies, you look fantastic! The towels are already by the pool.” For a second, I thought Jason’s eyes were drifting to my body, but before I could say or do anything, Anna pulled me toward the stairs. “Let’s go!”

Once we arrived at the pool, there were beach beds ready for us. Anna took me there.

“These are our beds. If you need anything, let me know and I’ll arrange it for you. For now, I’m going to say hello to some warriors,” and with a grin and a wink on her face, she walked away. I was just about to lie down on the bed to enjoy the sun when someone was standing next to me.

“Hi, how are you?” A voice behind me asked.

“Uh, hi, good,” I did not know who it was.

“I’m Ben. We met last night, but I don’t know if you remember. Shortly after, you passed out.”

“No, sorry, I don’t remember anything from last night. Nice to meet you. My name is Eliza, but I think you already know that. You’re the Beta, right?”

“Yes, that’s right. Would you like something to drink? I can get you something.”

“Thank you, but you don’t have to. Anna is saying hi to some warriors, and I wanted to enjoy the sun for a while.”

“Okay, enjoy the sun and I’ll see you later,” and with that, Ben walked away.

I lay down. Oh, how wonderful it is in the sun.

“Liz? Liz, wake up!”

“Hmm, what?”

“Hey sleeping beauty, wake up. Would you like something to drink?” Anna stood at my feet, a cocktail in her hands. I nodded at her glass and said, “That looks nice. Can I have the same?”

“Yes, of course! Jason made this for me. I’ll ask him to make one for you, too. Come into the pool in a minute. The water is delicious!”

I sat up so I could get a better view of the pool. By now there was some music playing and I saw Jason at the bar pouring some drinks. Oh, how good that man looked. Jason saw me looking and a big smile appeared on his face. He immediately came over to me with a cocktail in his hands.

“Hello beautiful, here’s your cocktail. You look like you could use some ”

“Thanks!” was all I could say.

An Alpha flirting, that’s nothing, but a seventeen-year-old she-wolf flirting with the Alpha. That wasn’t right. I took a few sips of my cocktail and took a refreshing dip in the water. Maybe that could cool me down. From the edge of the pool, I dove into the water. I did a few laps, then hung out at the edge of the pool. From here, I could look out at all the other guests who were also at the party.

“Liz, I’d like to introduce you to some of our warriors. These are James, Jack and Tom. They trained your Alpha and brother when they were here on their training journey. Guys, this is my best friend and sister from soon to be Beta Alex.”

“Hi guys,”

“Hello there, so you’re Beta Alex’s little sister. How are you? Are you having a good time here at The Red Moon pack?”

Before I could answer, Beta Ben walked up to me.

“Were you talking about Beta Alex?” I didn’t know what to make of Ben. None of the warriors answered, instead they all bowed their necks to the Beta as a sign of respect.

“Yes, Anna just introduced these three warriors to me. Anna told me they trained with my brother and the upcoming Alpha.”

“Well, you mentioned it. I hadn’t made the connection yet, but of course you are Beta’s daughter. You must be glad your brother is good friends with the Alpha.”

I frowned at his remark.

“Ben, that’s enough. James, Jack and Tom grab a beer. I have them ready for you at the bar,” Jason said in a slightly irritated tone.

“Did I do or say something wrong?” I asked Anna. I saw Anna exchange glances with Jason.

“It is nothing. Ben just introduced himself, isn’t it Ben?” With those words, Jason walked back to the warriors, and sat at the bar enjoying himself.

“Anna, am I unwanted here? I thought our packs were friends.” I was worrying now.

“Don’t worry Liz, you’re my best friend and as long as Jason’s okay with you being here, don’t worry about ” With that, Anna waved all my questions away.

The rest of the afternoon, we all enjoyed the lovely weather, the pool, the snacks, drinks and the music.

“Anna, I’m going to go rinse myself. Be right. ” Anna gave me another wave before I turned the corner and got into the shower. The water was wonderfully warm. I was standing face to face with the stream of water when a hand slid down my mouth and another hand grabbed my breast abruptly and roughly.

“Hello gorgeous, we’re going to have some fun together. These lovely t**s and that nice ass of yours make me so horny. Feel that? Oh, baby, we’re going to have so much fun!”

I panicked. Whoever it was, he was about to rape me. I heard a loud growl behind me. Someone snatched away the hands that were holding me. It ripped my bikini top off my body for it. I didn’t dare turn around, afraid of what might come next.

Judging by the sounds, two wolves were fighting in the back. A lot of grunts, some whining, followed by the sound of a loud bang. I sank to the ground, trembling. My legs pulled up and my arms over my head. As a last form of protection. Fear gripped me, and I didn’t have any idea what to do next. My father had always taught me never to run away. Wolves love the hunt. It’s their instinct, so never run away. There was silence. I heard nothing more. I did not dare to look at what had just happened behind me.

That’s when I heard footsteps. “Eliza, it’s me, Jason. You’re safe. Did that rogue hurt you?”

I didn’t dare to move. I just shook no.

“Eliza, do you trust me?”

Do I trust Jason? I asked myself. I had only known him for a day. How can you get to know someone in one day, let alone trust them? And yet, after all the stories and my time with Anna, it was like I already knew Jason. So, I nodded yes.

I want to give you this t-shirt. Let me cover you with it, okay? Once again, I nodded in approval.

Jason reassured me, “It’s my shirt, so it’s big enough. I promise you I won’t look.”

I was grateful for the way Jason treated me. He took his time and made sure that it didn’t make me feel any more uncomfortable than the whole situation already was.

Jason crouched behind me and gently lowered my arms so he could put the shirt over my head. I held my arms against my breasts and the shirt slid down my arms. His hands stayed behind my back, making sure I knew he was still with me. To assure me I was not alone and that nothing more could happen to me.

“I’m going to pick you up now. Is that okay? I’ll take you to Anna. Nothing can happen to you, Eliza, I promise you!” Carefully, he came from behind to my side. His one hand was still on my back and his other hand slowly moving towards the back of my knee. He lifted me up without effort and held me close. I felt safe and closed my eyes. A sigh of relief came over me. I rested my head against his chest and the sound of his heartbeat calmed me again.
