As soon as I saw Tate, it felt like the whole world became quiet until all I could hear was my own rapid breathing and the dull thudding of his heart. Feeling like my head was underwater, I slowly lifted my head and tore my gaze away from the sight of him lying in a pool of blood, trying to see if all of this was real.
