CHRIS
"I present you Deborah, Deborah Christopher my youngest brother." He said.
"Nice to meet you Christoph." She shook my hand, it took me all not to roll my eyes I hate when the call me Christoph sounds like I'm old.
"May I know who is she?" I asked.
"Oh sorry, Deborah is the most brilliant intern this company have, she is the only daughter of Diana our closest partner." He had this proud smile on his face, she must be really good.
"Did he pass the test Sir?" She asked
"Yeah he did, shocking right? None of the teenage intern that applied in this company pasted the test, except you and him." He said, I saw pure surprise and jealousy written on her face.
"Oh, but none of your siblings past the test, it was either hard or boring." She said.
"He is a phenomenon." Fred shrugged.
There was a soft knock on the door.
"Come in." She said.
Garry walk in with an ID giving it to Fred who thanked him before he left.
"Here, is yours," he handed me my ID, now I know why I had to go through that process.
"Pretty fast." I reach for it admiring it.
"Yeah, things are fast here," he said before turning to face Deborah, "we need to talk." She followed him out of the room.
I took the rare opportunity to look around, there is three desk with chairs and a big glass window, everywhere is neatly arranged.
I stood in my spot not moving an inch, I wanted to touch things but that is disrespectful you don't just touch peoples stuff without permission, I learn that the hard way believe me.
She walk in with Fred, who stare at me.
"Have a nice first day in office, I'm in my office if you need me" he said before disappearing in the hall.
Deborah shut the door, "sit!" She pointed to the second free desk, I hate been commanded but I promise Fred I won't get in trouble so I swallow my pride and did what she instructed.
"You pass that test huh?" She glared at me.
"Yeah."
"You cheated right?"
"No I didn't." I said.
"Whatever just sit and shut up!" She pulled her seat returning back to typing.
I stay silent for minutes, I was getting bored I didn't have my phone I forgot it in Fred's office, and the sound of her typing is annoying!
"Go pee." She said all of a sudden.
"I don't feel like." I simply reply.
"Go pee I said!" She glared at me pointing at the door like some strict mother scolding her child, this is It! she's crossed the line!
"I hate bossy people." I said.
"So?" She stood up.
"I hate people giving me commands Im not a f*****g child!" I equally stood up.
"Oh shut it, you're thirteen and I was asked to babysit you." She crossed her arms.
I rolled my eyes. "If I was just a baby how did I pass that test?"
She glared hard at me, "you cheated Smalley, that's the only logic explanation, and for your information I'm going to your brother's office to report of how bad you've been." She turn to leave.
"Go ahead, I bet you're jealous that I'm here and I past the test, scared to loss your tittle," I said, she turn around stomping to me.
"You! That's a big lie!" She yelled.
"Oh really prove it." I opened my arms wide.
"What of a challenge, if I win I'm the boss, you do whatever I say whenever I want!"
"But if I win I get to be the boss forever!" I smirk at the expression on her face. "are you scared?" I teased.
"No, no! scared of you?" She chuckled, I rolled my eyes.
The door was flip opened and a guy in black suit with brown hair walked in.
"Debi! I never knew you have a younger brother." He said.
"He is not my brother! But Frederick's." She said.
"Oh sorry, just that you look alike." He said.
We both scoff, "we don't!"
"He is stubborn and bratty!"
"She is rude and bossy." I said nonchalantly.
The man chuckled.
"So Tom why are you here?" She asked.
"Oh I brought some files you need to go through before stamping." He dropped the well arranged box of files on the desk.
"Oh thanks. Do you have any important thing to do?"
"No except seating lazily in my office waiting for an important document, what can I do for you?"
"Good, I want you to be our judge, this kid over here wants a challenge." She said.
"I don't understand." Tom replied.
"Well he pass the test imagine."
"Huh?" Tom stare at me blinking, "is he not um... Too young?"
"Yes! He actually cheated!"
"What?" Tom gasp, I rolled my eyes.
"I didn't cheat, and I can prove it."
"Well that's what we shall see," she opened the box. "The person with more stamp files is the winner, but mind you there must be no error!"
"Deal!" I crossed my arms while she glared.
"I guess I'm the judge." Tom grinned. "You can start."
I grabbed as many files as my grasp could hold walking back to my desk, I drop them picking my first file, from the corner of my eyes I saw her watching so I pretend to be confuse.
It went that way, each time she glance at me I pretend to be confuse so she is less worried and let her guards down, all my stamp files were hidden at the corner of my desk so she couldn't see the numbers of my complete work, we did this for hours.
"I'm done!" She dropped her last file on her desk, they are really many.
I quickly stamp my last file, I reach for my completed files on the floor, bringing them on my desk, her eyes widen and she blink.
"Woah that's a great work." Tom complimented.
She scoff, "I bet there are lots of error!" She crossed her arms.
Tom went through our files and counted them.
"Deborah 50 files- error free, and the kid 51 files- error free." Tom said.
"What the-" her jaw dropped.
I stood in front of her with my arms crossed, "I win, I'm the boss." I said softly.
"Fine, a deal is a deal." She said. I was expecting a dumb excuse but this, I think she is a girl with principles.
"You're so smart, may I know your name?" Tom said.
"Christopher Benjamin Jackson." I simply said.
"Chris then," he shook my hand. "Well I think I'll be heading home."
"Home but we just started." Deborah said.
"No, you were so engross on your competition that you didn't notice the time, is 6:00 pm."
We both gasp, "woah." I said.
"I think I'll be leaving now, mum must be waiting." She said before exiting the room.
I wave Tom goodbye before I walk to Fred's office.
I knocked before going in, I plop on the sofa, Fred was no where to be seen.
I opened the mini refrigerator, reaching for the plastic bottle of water, today was just amazing! I'll be coming here more often.
The door flew open and Fred walk in, when he spotted me he sigh, "I was looking for you."
"Why?"
"Is time to go home, grab your stuff." He said while packing his files in his briefcase.
I grabbed my backpack where I dropped it, and we left for the car.
"How was it?" He asked while driving.
"Oh it was great." I smile when I recall the expression on Deborah's face when I won.
"How do you see Deborah?"
"Very Bossy and crabby!" I frowned.
He cleared his throat looking at me sternly threw the rear mirror, "Did anything happen between you two?"
"No, but did you ask her to babysit me?"
"No I didn't, I told her to look after you and help you out if you really need help, why?"
"She said you ask her to babysit me, do I look like a child? But no worries I gave her an a*s whooping." I mumbled the last part.
"What?"
"I mean I love the organization."
"You enjoyed your punishment right?"
"No! Absolutely no! It was boring." I tried to sound convincing.
"Stop lying, I'll just think of another punishment, maybe some chores!"
My heart skipped, "i-i enjoy doing chores too." I need to play smart.
"Maybe grounding."
"I enjoy all my punishments." I smirk.
"Oh really? Then I'll s***k you again." He simply said.
"Please no! It hurt so bad, and I was pretty good today, please anything but s******g!" I blurted out.
He chuckled, "yeah, you were pretty good today, maybe I repeat maybe I won't punish you."
I sigh in relief, "thank you."
"Fred?" I called out after some minutes of silence.
"Yeah?"
"Uh... Do you like me?"
He chuckled, "of course!"
"Why?"
"Because you're my brother and you're special." He replied.
"About m-mother you know is not my fault, right?" I asked softly.
"What are these questions? You're innocent, you didn't kill mother!"
"Kay.." I mumbled.
"Tell me." He said gently.
"What?"
"Have the boys ever told you that you killed her? Have they been mean to you?"
"No." I replied, he sigh quietly.
"You almost scared me." He said.
Now I'm certain that Fred is not like them, I can't tell him about what they've been doing, I don't know why, but deep down I don't want it like that.
